Ladies and Gentlemen! It's a big game tonight and Motty the Goblin is now live right from the stadium! I found this guy in the box during the last round of the Box of Goodwill. As then kindly pointed out by @alchemist, he is Motty the Goblin Commentator by Impact Miniatures. He is a parody/tribute to a well known British football (soccer) commentator John Motson. As I didn't know who John Motson was and what he looked like, I decided to look him up online. Yup, the decision for color palette was obvious then 🙂 On a separate and final note, this was my first time painting metal. Prep was a little different. But other than that, I would say it's pretty much the same as painting plastic. And here is John Motson IRL 🙂16 points

Today is a day of mixed feelings Oldest Vixen will move out today, her appartment she bought is ( finally) ready and today is the day. It's a happy day for her, we like for her to start her adult life on her own and yet I also feel sad. She will live at a 7 minutes walking distance and it still feels like the other side of the World. Oh well, her boyfriend and Youngest VIxen and her boyfriend will arrive soon, then the moving will start. First...Lunch!13 points

Sure Why not? I've probably done it somewhere along the line. Milk, eggs, other stuff. It's like really good kids cereal.8 points

My answer is like most on here, why? Only for us to kill it off again? 4th: Yup, I do it all the time. I tend to not group certain foods to be eat at certain times of day. Thou my schedule my breakfast & your breakfast might be at different times. 5th: No pics but I just had a bowl of Kellogg's Corn Pops. Nothing fancy here.8 points

160 years ago, today, February 3.1863, in Carson City, Nevada. the pen name "Mark Twain" was used for the first time by the young tale spinner and newspaper man Samuel Langhorn Clemens. There's a big celebration planned for mid April, and both the Railroad Museum and the Virginia and Truckee tourist railroad have events scheduled as part of the festivities. Here's a link to the event: https://visitcarsoncity.com/mark-twain-days/?utm_id=newsletter We have a "local personality", who is an author and local newspaperman named Macavoy Lane who does impressions of "The Ghost of Mark Twain" on a regular basis who will be a key part of the festivities. He's quite good and has been doing this for so long he easily slips between his Mark Twain Persona and his regular Macavoy Lane personality. In the meantime, at the end of the month the Railroad Museum will be having a special Steam Up Event for the State Legislature and their staff's to present the Museum to the people responsible for signing the checks that pay most of the bills. I'll be participating in my regular job as a brakeman for the operating department. In Nevada the Legislature is a part time affair, meeting every other year. This event will be at the very start of the "Legislative Season" so we will have everything shined up, oiled up, and putting our best face forward. GEM Addendum: There's a 30 second video promoting the event that features mostly railroad equipment of the Nevada State Railroad Museum. Most of this equipment has appeared in multiple Hollywood Feature Film and TV Productions. It's all original Virginia and Truckee Railroad original equipment, much of it dating to before the turn of the 20th Century.8 points

Eldar Scrolls? If somebody managed to create good RPG rules for a WH40K/Skyrim crossover, I'd definitely buy them, lol. In other news, due to the upcoming low temps, Jack has dropped around $50 to put ten gallons of diesel into his furnace in order to start it up and keep it going over the weekend... Jack is warm, without basically having to hold a space heater in his lap like a small child, lol. This is a strange feeling.8 points

Probably? My eating habits in college were particularly weird and included a lot of ice cream. Not necessarily good or bad. I generally don't wake up in time to call it breakfast. By 1130am- 2pm it's lunch.7 points
-
Yup, when I was back in High School, and Yes, we did have ice cream back then...7 points

No, I don't think I've ever done that. As to whether or not it's a good idea, I don't know. That's up to everyone to decide for themselves.7 points

Anyone out there a fan of thread necros? I finished up this Sophie this week (after reworking most things - I've gotten better since I last worked on her), and had forgotten about this WIP thread until Google reminded me while I was searching for which Sophie this was. Protip: don't wait 10 years to finish your minis!7 points

I never have done it, but it sounds like a WONDERFUL idea...I am admittedly a Carvel addict.7 points

I think I have done this. If smoothies or shakes count. Pretty sure I once tried some blended breakfast concoction that had ice cream in there. I don’t think I ever had a basic bowl of scooped ice cream for breakfast though.7 points

Probably not. I don't think it's a bad idea, but humanity would find some way of wiping them out again, it's what we do.7 points

Sounds like it's time for the Dispatcher to start giving the Credit Card spiel. Will save time all around, and maybe, just maybe, the guy will get the message. GEM7 points

And I'm still with my December snow. Wife said that the news mentioned that it's the longest the snow has stuck around since 2012. I think I remember that year. Snowed in November, melted in April.7 points

Yup That is why shut-down-and-wait is the more cost effective solution as opposed to having enough de-icing equipment to do a whole county and its roads.7 points

Late night reruns for me. METV currently claims Saturday afternoon for the show. Now I've got that song stuck in my head.6 points

Yes, I've have a Dairy Queen blizzard for breakfast because I needed food and I hate the greasy breakfast foods that all the other places serve until 11 a.m. .6 points
-
Oddly enough, did that this morning. Had my normal breakfast while watching a show and realized I was still hungry, so grabbed an ice cream on a stick out of the freezer. I'm not sure I've ever eaten a bowl of ice cream for breakfast, but I have certainly eaten giant cookie ice cream sandwich thingies for breakfast on the way to the track. Lots of fuel for a busy day. Pics of breakfast are unlikely. My normal breakfast is pretty boring. Toast or cereal and a piece of fruit.6 points

I wonder how many people are old enough to get the tv reference... So, it's hitting -6F (-21C) this morning (it's colder in the morning and during the day than it was last night), but Sunday afternoon it's going to be 45F, on Monday 52F, and by Wednesday it'll be 55F before dropping to 41F by the weekend. Meanwhile, Mt. Washington in NH is supposed to have hit -46F (-43.3C), with 135 mph windspeeds. God I love New England.6 points

I’m fine with it, but only if they first restore enough habitat for any new strains to be self sustaining in the wild. I have no interest in seeing live specimens restored for some version of a zoo. FWIW, as a scientist, it raises the hackles on my neck when people talk about what SCIENCE can do. Science is just an approach to studying things…6 points

No, but our prairie dogs here have predicted that Spring will start on March 20th, and they're eerily accurate all the time. Also, we don't need to disturb their sleep by dragging them out of their burrow to ask them questions.6 points

That requires a baseball bat. Broken sections of pallets though, are very easy to acquire, and occasionally have rusty nails too...6 points
-
Not I. Historically I am useless with a baseball bat. But speaking of sites: whatever happened with the Canada guy who refused to troubleshoot with you, had some kind of hitch with a printer(?), was not realizing you were all the way in Iowa, was looking at having to order bucket ton$$$ of new parts if he didn’t troubleshoot?6 points

Two things of note, lately: I just found a 2-pack of seasons 1 and 2 of Stargate: Atlantis at Big Lots for $10... (Not that I really needed to be spending extra money right now, but $10...) And I just put 10 gallons of diesel in my furnace today because of the upcoming cold weather this weekend to keep the pipes from freezing - which means that Jack has heat and hot water (at least for the next day or so) for the first time since November...6 points

the only oriental dragon I have is a small one from Grenadier its probably 30 years old and not very interesting. i really like the one from Bones 5, just not enough to buy the whole expansion. So in the mean time I picked up this one from Dungeons and Lasers that my LGS had. he been sitting in his boxes at least a year now. the image on the box had wings so I planed on doing a minor conversion and taking them off. Eastern dragons don't have wings. It turns out the wings are optional, and attach without any sockets. wonderful now I have testing areas for primer and scale patterns - maybe ill kit bash them on something else eventually. I am going to go with a gold & red pattern. I found a traditional picture with a good pallet. I have assembled it so far with Tamyla thin plastic cement. Leaving off its face and one leg so I can read some difficult areas. putting it togeather was not as hard as I had feared, just some minor gapfill on the seams. wings are primed with a GW black primer , I might try zental priming with a white - I guess O shod test the idea on the other wing....5 points

Touchups and the red arm piece done on the remaining 3. So that leaves the freehand markings.....sigh. We'll see how that goes. I may start working on the Deathtroopers while I work on the markings on these. I can only do so many attempts at a straight line before it gets hopeless, so having something to switch too will be helpful. Oh, and can't forget to get the bases done....5 points
