Sorry for the onslaught of posts, I'm playing catch up. I revisited Madame Delia, for the first time in roughly 2 years. I wanted to show the division of elements in her costuming for my upcoming color class at ReaperCon 2023- along with developing a palette that was less monochromatic. This is my all-time favorite mini from Reaper, followed by ReaperCon Sophie 100mm, the Brinewind Doxies, and Elsabeth, Necropolis Captain. Basically, I just like painting sassy ladies ; )11 points

Earlier this year, my wife & I was going to stay over in Boise after a Old Dominion concert, the hotel I had booked (which I booked in the past with no problems) told us after we were 90% checked in that "Oh we don't service local people. Local in this case meant 70 miles radius from Boise's lonely zipcode. Which puts my town & anther that is even further "local". I just looked at her, grabbed my card & said "Yah, thanks for nothing." I ended up calling Booking . com to tell them the situation + so I wouldn't get charged no matter what for the "stay" I had with them. I ended up just booking with a hotel I stayed at numerous times for ReaperCon, across the street. It was plain & dull & a bit more then the other, one but at least they wanted my business. Yes, plenty! Mostly they were the old space & medieval sets, with a bit of the builder style Lego sets. I didn't have any generic clicking blocks sets. Absolutely loved playing with them. No brand name stuff like Star Wara or Marvel or whatever. They were perfect! I still do like them & even the branded stuff is pretty cool as well, but it'll never compare to what I had as a kid. Nah, same ole, same ole. I need to use today as a major day to knock out RCon maps, finish my entry & such. With the cool down coming, I'm gonna enjoy being out in the garage the next few days.7 points

I vaguely recall having a few when we were very young. They weren't a big deal back then, but were still pricey, as kids toys go, so we didn't have a lot of them, or for very long. I'm supposed to be running a game this morning. After a week of haggling over acceptable start times so that someone could get to the pre-season sportsball game this evening, two of our players called out this morning for other reasons, leaving us below quorum. We're home and trying to take care of various household needs before the heat wave settles in and fries us. Supposed to be 100-100+ the next 6-7 days. I've got to start collecting stuff for Reapercon and making a pile. Started reading Elizabeth Moon's series' again, I'll dig around for the next one in our collection and probably settle down with that later today and tomorrow.6 points

I plan on dreading going back to work on Monday after having a week off.6 points

No plans for anything different. The usual, d'uh! Slightly more specifically, there will be grocery shopping and lunch with Pa Strawhat. Some chores, some family drama, some dreading of Monday's inevitability, etc. Same Chaoswolf-time, same Chaoswolf-channel!6 points

There's a Farmers Market on Sunday to go to, but other than that I'm just doing the usual, a bit of grocery shopping and mowing the lawn.6 points

Saturday is our monthly board game club at the library. I mean to put in an appearance, even made orange ricotta cake. Do not plan to stay the whole time, as there is still too much reapercon prep and one friend will have three grandkids there, and while the preteen girl shouldn't be too annoying, the 15 month old is not an age I like to deal with. It's too young to have any logic or reasoning, but probably very mobile. Otherwise, pick up meds, paint, and make cookie dough for the con cookies. (Some people will have ribbons. I'll have chocolate chips.) So nothing particularly different. It's Fred Astaire and Barbara Stanwyck day on tcm Saturday and Sunday, respectively, and I don't much care about her movies (I am not watching Executive Suite again) and have seen his so many times I can happily skip this round.6 points

Different from what? Another questionable question I am not sure I understand. I am not really much of a planner. A) Try to wake up among the living. (Always a good plan.) B) Order some groceries, collect them from the porch if Wallyworld feels like delivering. Usually they do. C) Virtual internet church Sunday morning. (My cousin’s church started streaming a service over the internet back during the lockdowns and have not stopped. Sometimes I get a glimpse of my relatives if they are part of the choir. They rotate people.) D) Telly: TV is a bust this weekend. All reruns and pledge drives. Maybe I can catch up on Strange New Worlds. …it really isn’t much of a plan is it? I am not really much of a planner.6 points

What really concerns me is, this one killed Bob...b-u-t...caribou can eat it and if you drink something you wouldn't normally even think of drinking (after the caribou is "through" with it), I can see God. Seriously, HOW does that happen? I mean, that ain't an accident...You don't reach for the coffee but get a nice cup of the caribou "stuff" instead and just decide to chug it on down. That's a conscious decision. *shudder*6 points

Not really, except this is the last weekend before the fall semester starts. I have to get back in front of a classroom on Monday, so I need to do a bit more preparation for that. Other than that bit of work, I'm hoping to finish a couple of ReaperCon MSP entries. And of course there are all the miscellaneous things that need to get done every weekend.5 points

19: Ironically, no. I’ve been trapped in my bedroom all week, dealing with my first bout of COVID. Even with paxlovid and a late variant, it’s still given me a major butt kicking. Mick was right, it’s a drag getting old. My family is squeamish about horror, so I’ve taken advantage of my isolation and started binge watching the Walking Dead. It’s about the only thing other than sleep that I’ve done for the last two days. I guess I’ll stick with it for a bit longer… 20: I may get a bundle of paintbrushes and partially complete RC entries left next to my door by the ghosts that care for me. I think I’ll get in trouble if I spill any paint on the bed, however.5 points

We're going on a little vacation upcoming Monday for a few days. A nice place in the Northern part of the Netherlands. Kraggenburg. So, we're preparing for that. Besides that, a littel bit of reading/gaming/cooking/watching TV.5 points

I would like to be on the card please! I go by Danilion (Dani) and here is the picture that I will use if possible. Honestly, I am not sure if that one will work because it was what I had that would fit the forum limitations, but if not I can use a different one. This is a better picture if the other one doesn’t work.5 points

Arghhh! I'm in a groove on map assembly & I've ran out of craft glue! Figures....... At least the temps are starting to go down as it's clouding up outside & there is a nice breeze blowing through the garage door.4 points

Some news reports are saying he will visit on Monday. But, he can always delay, and stage, in Tahoe for a couple of days if Maui needs more time. I would send a pair of helicopter carriers from Pearl if I was POTUS. They and their flight decks and aircrews would be way more useful than a plane load of Politicos and second plane full of reporters.4 points

I've never thought it's a good idea for politicians to be rushing to disaster sites, for basically a photo op, when there is nothing they can do to aid the local efforts. A flyover with an aide to answer questions so they get a comprehensive overview is appropriate IMNSHO, but shiny shoes on the ground just takes scarce resources from the real recovery efforts. Do the flyover and figure out what is needed and get that aid moving, then have a press conference. GEM4 points

Usually twice, to the point where I'll stop and wait for the second one, then grumble if it doesn't come. Usually it winds up waiting about 20-25 seconds then says hi... I did until my parents decided to give it all to someone else, despite the fact I'd been regularly using it! And then they wonder why I have trust issues with them... ones that were reinforced two visits ago, when I literally had one rule, and only one rule for mom "don't mess with my kitchen layout". Dad and I go out for parts, she rearrange my kitchen layout, and I find out when I'm cooking something somewhat complicated and have friends over that things aren't where they're supposed to be, and wind up burning food. Mom is now banned from my kitchen, and not allowed to be left alone in my place. You don't rearrange someone else's kitchen to YOUR tastes when it isn't your kitchen! I've considered the acquisition of some new kits as an adult, but don't really have anywhere to put them. Well, switching schedules seems like a different plan... I'm temporarily (possibly permanently after a test phase) in the warehouse at work due to shenanigans from boss (that could get him into serious trouble due to violating several ckmpany policies and labour laws doing this, but we won't get into that), and if it turns out the later shifts work better for me I'll be discussing a position change with work (I'm a night owl, this whole getting up at 04:30 thing is really draining on me) The usual. Come up with grandiose plans about painting, fixing and cleaning, and we shall see what gets done 😛4 points

MMF finally has brought on one of their big sales. Easy this time around SUMMER23 for up to 50% all makers. Discount is shown with the maker. Comes at a good time as I've started to plan my Halloween adventure for my FLGS. Cometlord Headless Horseman for the win!!4 points

I have a gut level feeling the Credit Card Processor is going to have an automatic response of "NO, not just No but Hell NO!" There's nothing in it for the CCP except extra work with the potential of causing even more work down the road, and the potential downside should it be some sort of hacker trying out exploits is tremendous. It's too much work to try to accommodate somebody who is already a problem customer attempting to keep "worn out" equipment functioning long past the normal and reasonable lifecycle for such equipment. It's the equivalent of trying to communicate by Morse Code in a world where Text Messaging is the normal and accepted method for printed communication.4 points

Had food poisoning from chicken aboard ship so many times I couldn't even look at a picture of fried chicken for a couple of years without my stomach turning over. To this day there are times when chicken will trigger a queasy stomach. This after growing up with KFC [he colonel was still alive], a grandmother who did Maryland Style Fried Chicken for Extended Family Sunday Dinner a couple times a month, a mother who used Grandma's recipe for fried chicken, and the occasional Chicken Dinner from Knott's Berry Farm when Walter and Cordelia were still running the business. Food Poisoning can really mess people up. GEM4 points

Currently 92, but there are clouds in the area & the temps are gonna take a nosedive this weekend & most of next week. Blame it all on the hurricane south of the coast of California. Looking at the path, looks like we'll get the storm path after it goes through the SW as well. I don't mind, I guess gives me a short relief before heading to Dallas aka "Hell" the following week. Also currently there is a fire burning near Baker City OR (about an hour NW of here) so yah the skies are also hazy & smokey right now. Gotta love summers these days living in the West.4 points

Succotash contains corn and beans, not sure about okra. A succotash field is an old joke in our family, dad got mom to believe in it for a short time when they were dating. It's a soybean field that's been planted where there previously had been corn, and many self seeded corn plants are growing amongst the beans. That's why you can't tell it's a succotash field early in the season, you have to wait for the corn to get visible.4 points

You are assuming I stopped owning LEGOs. I had them as a kid (3 years old); teenager; young adult; and now early 50s middle-aged man. So yeah, I like them. How could I not, it's minis!4 points

And this is why POTUS has (sensibly, so far) not rushed to Maui to commiserate with and support the people. What’s happening near Lake Tahoe—That’s exactly what would or will happen if he did. All hands on deck would end up safeguarding TLoTFW instead of looking for the missing. Sifting through the rubble needs to take priority.3 points

Went to Reno yesterday afternoon for an outing {Reno Dog Club show and judging] and was hearing on the radio Air Force One due to land at the Reno Airport at 7:30 so the Biden's can visit Lake Tahoe. Had dinner at our favorite Hole In The Wall Italian Joint and drove home. The route from Reno to Carson City is the same route the Biden Motorcade would have to take to get to the Lake via US 50. Looked like every single badged officer and all of the N-DOT employees were on duty with every access point to the highway and all of the crossover points having either a cruiser or N-DOT vehicle, including all the plow trucks, guarding every access point. My brain couldn't help but speculate on all of the overtime involved. GEM3 points

I am glad you liked them. I bought them as a sort of joke encounter for the D&D game I run for my friends kids. I have some halflings riding pig miniatures and I wanted to say “ “ “As you crest the hill you see a group of halflings riding pigs” and place those miniatures on the table. The say “Oops I read that wrong It’s pigs riding Halflings” and swap them for the Piggybacks. I am pretty sure they would have lost their minds.3 points

Hello! I'm in. I should also be at the Artist Alley if folks want to find me there. I'll be there all 4 days. I go by "Cara" or "Cara Curley" on the discord/forum/facebook group. You can use the beanie baby (which is discord/forum) or the pic below which I use on Facebook, which is where I'm more well known.3 points

The nearest distributor techs to him are several states away, and neither has techs who know the old stuff. Which basically leaves **me**. I've flat out told him I'm not visiting his sites unless it's to install new equipment. The service manager and I have repeatedly asked the CEO of the company to send out a letter that declares an end of life date past which we will not support these units or at least charge a higher service rate. CEO won't do that- we've even written the letters for him, and all we get is an "I'll think about it." Best I can do is tell them we're running out of parts and that we won't be ordering any more. We're literally down to five parts left for the machine, but four of those are still used by other equipment, so we'll never run out of those. The other part is a unique keypad, and is one of the most frequent wear items. When those run out, he's done. We actually have like 30 of those keypads left, and he's the biggest user of them - at the current rate of consumption on them, we've probably got 4-6 years worth of stock left. But since that's really my only ace card, I've been telling him we have way less than that. This last time, he bought 6 spares, thinking we had only around a dozen left. As soon as I think he's forgotten what I said a couple months ago, I'll warn him we're down to less than a dozen again. The service manager has been reaching out to the few sites they still have left with these machines and doing the same thing. We're hoping to run out the stock, knowing that the CEO will not authorize another parts run for them, since the minimum order would end up being at least two decades worth at current consumption. Because I want to be absolutely sure every one of his tellers at every one of his sites is damaged enough that he won't even be able to make one of them work again? LOL! I haven't actually thought about arson, but I will admit to considering hiring some gang to do some drive by shootings on his equipment. In my head, the conversation goes something like this: Me: I wanna hire you to shoot something. Gang Member: You mean someone. Me: No, something. I don't want anyone hurt. Gang Member: OK, it's your money. Me: Here's the picture of the equipment. You need to make sure that you shoot at it from the back, and that at least 2-3 bullets penetrate the stainless steel cabinet in these zones. Gang Member: Wait, you want us to shoot at a car wash? Me: Yes. Gang Member: Dude, that's brocolli'd up. But whatever - my guys will enjoy the shooting practice. Of course, I have no clue how I would get in touch with some gang member in his area (and no, I'm not asking how).3 points

I sneeze just enough to stop sneezing. I had some generic legos, but it wasn't very kit/end product oriented back in the 70s, so I didn't really have a particular fondness for them. I like them enough now, and I bought more than my fair share for my kid, but they've never really lit me up.3 points

Tethru showdown in the field of obelisks! These are a handful of Tethru from Crocodile Games I've had forever and finally got around to painting. I really want to buy the army set for these guys--so rewarding to paint. I was worried they would look too much like the undead, so I left that general on the desk as a reference of what NOT to do while painting. I left him here as a comparison. Boy, do I like purple! Unlike her nemesis, this tethru has a lot of lilac in her robes as a highlight. Her scale mail is a play off the orange in her beak, and I wanted something different from the standard scheme on the undead. It is Citadel Balthazar Gold-->flesh shade-->Gehenna Gold-->Hatshut Copper. The blue cloth is Caledor Sky-->Tyran Blue wash-->Teclis Blue--> Lothern Blue. Finally, the green accents are: Lupercal Green-->Kabalite Green-->Sybarite Green-->Gauss Blaster Green. Okay, I lied about the monuments. I didn't marble them. I just thought it would be too busy. They came as a set from a 3D print seller. They are for the cards, where "Obelisk" is one of the red herrings/objectives. That's why there are 2 in my standard rival colours. The purple one came with the set. The tethru seem pretty keen on it. The pillar of wailing skulls is another 3D print. It's not a nice one, too many lines and not enough definition in the heads. Good thing it only cost a few loonies. It got a super quick wash and drybrush with some yellow ink on top. Finally, Torruk the Hellbound barbarian. I think that's his name. He's a Reaper mini, and a fun one at that. I'll admit, I didn't know what to do with his horns. I finally painted them grey and gave them a wash with the new Citadel Targor Rageshade, which is a sort of brown-purple. His flesh was an experiment, I like it, but not at all the outcome I was hoping for! That scheme is from the Warhammer Community Seraphon paint schemes post. He has been languishing on the desk for quite a while, so it's nice to see him done. He will be fulfilling the role of a end quest villain in Rangers of Shadow Deep, and will probably make a few cameos elsewhere.3 points
