  1. Brad brought me this as a ReaperCon gift last year. It’s huge-category, size wise.

  3. Gamer "morality" question time. I have some modern MDF buildings from Atomic Laser Designs for my game table. During our last game of Stargrave, there was a situation where player A moved a couple of their figures into a building, and because it was so dark inside, his opponent Player J lost track of the figure inside, and as a result, got "ambushed" by the forgotten figures inside the building. We made fun of Player J for not clearing doorways as a result. While I was wiring up the lights on my T-Trak module (see picture in my previous post), a joke was made that I should put lights in the buildings. Since I have a ton of extra tiny LEDs and CR2032 coin batteries, I decided "Why the heck not?" I also have a bunch of magnetic read switches I'm going to use to turn the LEDs in the buildings ON/OFF, so no fumbling around with opening buildings up and turning switches on. And now to my "morality" question: Would I be wrong to hide the reed switches and embed my minis with magnets, so that the lights only turn on when my forces approach the buildings?

  4. thanks. Single track, but I glued in some styrene as a center filler between the two sets. I still have a bunch of details I want to add, but it's ready enough for the show. One of those details is a fence between the two sets of rails, similar to something I've seen at some commuter rail stations that share right away with freight lines. I want the fence right in front of the platform to be a fancy "cast iron" fence with the station name in it. Ya know, cause Rhylan City is all about the flash. So anyway, that's why I put the filler in between the rails, so the fence would be more prominent. @OneBoot Oh no! Get well soon.

  7. This guy was apparently hiding during the Blood Wars, however now that I'm at the bottom of my Bones I and I Outsiders bag, he's finally come to light, I did a large amount of the skin tone using the airbrush and am fairly happy with how it turned out. I wanted him over something other than lava on the base and since I'm so enamoured with my Vallejo Yellow Green I though I'd go for that. I think the he purple highlight complement it nicely , even if it is the Joker palette. Hang on . . . I think it needs something else. Big porcine bruiser, purple mohawk, green goo on the ground . . . I know !

  8. This was a Kickstarter Excusive mini I got as part of the 28mm Fantasy Dwarven Miniature Collection II Kickstarter. Solid matt Black basecoat with heavy outlining using Reaper Copper Verdigris paint. Looks rather menacing in hand, and I am happy with how it turned out.

  9. Little Red Riding Hood dwarf (SKU 77072) was part of my Christmas 2023 Painting binge. She might get some grass or flowers on her base sometime. I actually painted her before, back in 2015:

  11. Pizza is like sex, even when it’s bad, it’s still pretty good. I’ll got NY style. There was a NY pizza spot in my college town that rallied me after many a hangover. Could get a slice and a soda for $4.50, which was about my budget for a meal back then.

  13. Well there is always that one guy...... The most epic cross over event ever. I don't think even Lucas, could screw that... then again he would. Snowed again today, not much but enough to make it a pain in the butt. I went to bed around 1 & woke up around 7, but didn't feel like getting up (heard the college football championship going on), so I just rolled back over & slept till I had to come to work tonight. Eh, I usually do this every once in awhile. I guess the days of just getting 3 to 4 hrs pet sleep catches up with me. @OneBoot gaaaah! Hopefully everything is smooth in your recovery!

  14. But...but... Fine. Since a couple others have mentioned my favorite sci-fi series, I'll pull out the stops and say Babylon 4. While not quite as glamorous as the Death Star, B4 was the largest of the Babylon stations, instrumental in the Shadow War (about a thousand years before it was built), and it was mobile.

  15. I finished paining this last spring, but didnt get good pictures until now. I didnt consciously paint it as a snowy owlbear because of the D&D movie, but had seen the trailer so that is portably why I choose that color scheme. Very happy with how it came out.

  17. Let's see - we have the head IT tech for a school district, a senior tech for hospital medical machines, a lawyer & myself. Nope, no tech savvy players. The lawyer is also a long time gamer like myself, and while he may not be super tech savvy, he does have minis that are magnetized for weapons swaps, so I'm sure he'd think of the magnets sooner, rather than later. I've going to be 3d Printing some "normal" rooftop equipment/features, like HVAC units that are modified to hold a magnet in them. That way they'll still look like part of the terrain.

  18. My 3rd and final of the set. I used Dr. Faust's 'dead flesh' recipe and think it worked out pretty well. Khaki, Hexed Lichen, and beige red, and buff. I also thought the hair blue/black was a fun touch too. Still struggling with the NMM I did on all 3 of these models, but I enjoy failing more at NMM than I do at really failing at true metallic.

  19. You could always do what I do. Start a WIP thread, work at it diligently for a week or two, then lose interest and start working on something else.

  20. Some speed painted bones minis: 1. Reaper Bones 77723 Harrowgate Shrines - Angel with Scythe Painted this with Army painters speed paint, with just some light touch ups. 2. Bones 5 Pirate Shrine to Meriwyn Painted this by base coating with different colors, then drybrushing light gray.

  21. Gotta be the Millennium Falcon. I don't give a rat's broccoli if it's fantasy or sf, it's one of my favorite fictional vehicles of all time. As for something different, how about the Gunstar from Last Starfighter Always did like that one, especially with the doors open in "Death Blossom" mode. I think a modern remake might help with the effects, but overall I think I'll keep the classic.

  22. 6th: Spider-Man's long forgotten Spider-Mobile, a dune buggy you can drive up walls. Not sure why Spider-Man needs a car, but being able to park it on the side of a building would solve a lot of parking issues. And good luck writing me a ticket. 7th: We've got a big GMC Sierra 1500 4WD truck at work that I drive on a regular basis. I've driven through landslides and rivers, over fallen logs, down old mining roads that are more a suggestion of a road than the actual thing. I've nearly flipped it and had it underwater several times. I've had it in mud deep enough to lose an intern in and used it to pull and/or push lesser vehicles out of spots this thing just plows right though. Despite my best efforts I've yet to get that thing stuck. It is extremely fun to drive. Last time I had my boss in it he said he was going to start making my interns sign a liability waiver to go out in the field with me. It's just that enjoyable. My favorite spaceships are the massive ones that arguably fall into the fantasy genre. Star Destroyers, Rama, and planet killers of all kinds are pretty great. But I think my favorite is the Heighliner from the Dune books. But that may be because I recently watched the new Dune movie.

  25. @OneBoot praying for you guys here. Looks really nice. An especially nice job on the ballasting. Did you use the dual Unitrack or each line single?

  26. NOOOO!!! This is probably redundant, but, stay off your feet, and let Mr. Boot do whatever is necessary for a couple/few weeks. Sounds like this might be a good time to think about getting "caught up" [if that's even possible] on mini painting as a distraction from that pranged ankle. Here's hoping you heal fast and have an easy convalescence.

  27. A few hours ago, they decided to have an early release day for school in anticipation of the snow storm we're supposed to get today. Have to go pick my kid up in an hour - but tbh, I think they might have over reacted - it still hasn't started snowing yet, and I don't think we're going to get enough accumulation in the next three hours to warrant the early release day. In other news, I got another T-Trak module completed enough for our big club show this weekend: No gaming minis on this one.

  28. Mostly used speed paint on this, had to redo the roof, since the blue didnt work for the speed paint, so that is blue undercoat with Army painted blue shade instead. Before I painted it, the mini had already fallen to the floor twice and I had had to re-glue the broken bits. Figured now that it has paint, I will be more careful with it.

  32. I'm not sure I've ever had a proper deep dish pizza, but I much prefer my pizza crust thin and unstuffed. Let the toppings do the talking! A hot soup or stew with fresh bread. We're awaiting a winter storm tonight though and I'll be stuffing a loaf of sourdough with cheese (cream cheese, old cheddar, mozza, onions, garlic and some beer) and dipping veggies and bread in it. A spaceship, fighter sized from Star Wars. Not really particular on which one, but zipping around space seems confusingly fun... until I fly into something that is...

  35. Depending on how they're using them, might they only be a Tripod? hmm, Lots of cold rain yesterday but nothing freezing. Forcast is only calling for just cold weather here this week, no precip until Monday morning, and I suspect it'll just be a light dusting this time around.

  36. & of course it was snowing when I come at 5 this morning. Suppose to do this later today & tomorrow as well. Pretty sure this is the snow that stays for the season, unless of course we get a odd winter heatwave (which could happen...) I should go shovel the driveway, but lately if I do, then it just melt off later in the day. We shall see how motivated I am.

  39. But I don't wanna share the "tech" I really should have put the question in purple. Meant to, but got called away, and hit submit reply without thinking about it. My real plan is to make a piece of small rooftop scatter terrain with an embedded magnet that can be set on the roofs to turn on the lights below. Another possibility that occurred to me just now are that both player's A & J usually borrow some of my minis - I should just rig those minis they borrow to trip the lights on, while mine and the other player P's would not.
