  1. I'm looking for a standalone version of the bear on the back of this mini or something similar: http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/yoon/sku-down/60200
  2. It means I'm happy and actually get stuff on the table instead of endlessly re-doing the same mini. Doesn't mean I won't try new techniques, but for example if my attempt at shading TMM doesn't have as much contrast as I like, as long as the thing still reads like a sword I'll move on to the next one. It's not like I don't have 2.8 kickstarters more minis to try things on or anything?
  3. > 1. Aim low, and meet your expectations. The only other painter I compare myself to are prepainted minis.
  4. Crocodiles! Normal sized, Giant sized (https://www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/crocodile/latest/03422), tiny, whatever!
  5. Well yes... but I didn't know how black/brown. And now I do.
  6. I saw someone else tried to make a mini in an hour... I decided to see how far I could get with a base coat. So so here is poor harsk. I think I got pretty far. Got most everything but the bedroll and quiver (and gloves. And half the crossbow) And here err he is finished. Or at least basecoated. I had already done a zenithal prime, and picked out the colors and paints before I started the timer too.
  7. I was confused as to the difference between agrax earthshade and nuln oil. I don’t deal in GW stuff too much. So I took some zenithal primed mummies and put it on. Left is nuln, right earthshade. I think the left one is pretty much good. I’ll probably take the bunch and dry brush some linen white on them and give them red eyes.
  8. @Rigel, what colors did you use for all the different colored leathers and book covers? they look very impressive.
  9. I used their purple/green color shift paint on the orb on the staff, and the butts of the spiders: https://imgur.com/a/hxh3lBU
  10. I also find myself staring at my paints thinking... "I need a reddish brown"... or a greyish brown, or a bluish brown... Colors are weird.
  11. Yeah, I found that glazing medium worked to stop the chalkyness a bit.
  12. I'm having a real hard time remembering which off whites and off blacks are off in which direction (blueish/reddish/cyanish/etc). Do these happen to be listed anywhere?
  13. Human Scale Mechanical Persons Half-dragons (dragonborn) Gnomes. (there are maybe 7-10 gnomes in the bones line) Halflings (somehow there are even fewer halflings) More heroes holding things other than swords/weapons I sorted my bones into hero categories, and "humanoid with sword(s)" was by far the largest bag.
  14. I'm aware of the "the craft" page, but I'm sure there's a lot more pdfs of printed resources that I'm missing.
  15. Someone linked to https://www.reapermini.com/pdf/CW18_PaintLikeMaster.pdf earlier today, and I was wondering if there was an index of all the documents like that on the reaper site. There was also a swatches document someone posted from the /misc/ folder as well.
  16. That document answers SO MANY questions I asked this week. thanks. Why isn't this linked from the paints page on the store?
  17. I guess I should have started with this, but this is the current checklist spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/154DbjQtCR6u-g-_w-zMf8g_BwuaZpk2ObwT72SqHEF8/edit?usp=sharing
  18. Yeah, that's what I realized... hence blotting from the middle if I was loading a wet/semi-wet brush already. As to whether to keep fighting the reaper skintones (now that I seem to have a handle on them) or to switch to scale 75 or something... I still have to decide.
  19. I do now it it seems overloaded... and I usually blot from the middle of the bristles. (if I had wet the brush before the paint). My methods have been in flux for a bit.
  20. Usually a 0, though I tend to try to put as little paint on them as possible to avoid it spilling everywhere. Like I said, it'll probably sort itself out as I get better at thinning.
  21. Pacific northwest, but somehow I have a drying problem sometimes too. Mostly due to insufficient thinning I think. But trying to do eyes, sometimes the I'll go from the palette to the model and it will be dry by the time I get there.
  22. @cyradis I tried airbrush thinner instead of water, and that ended up chalky as well. I don't have thinner medium specifically.
  23. What is the intended purpose for the six clear colors (09094 - 09099)? The couple times I tried them they weren't very transparent afterwards. I tried them over metallics and they completely occluded the reflection. Maybe they need more thinning, but then how are they different than other colors?
  24. I don't know what your budget is, but I like my > Brightech LightView PRO LED Magnifying Lamp - Full Spectrum Daylight Bright Magnifier Glass Lighted Lens - Adjustable Swivel Arm Utility Clamp Light for Desk Table Task Craft or Work Bench - White It takes up about 4 sq in of desk space on a corner and I can swing it between 2 desks. Also I've been trying to match the color temperature of all the lights in the room to the 5000-6000K range. Mostly for when I was streaming before, but it probably helps with painting too.
