  1. Will the plastic bases be available for purchase separately any time soon? I'd love to get some more before next summer. Sorry, just saw that this was just asked.
  2. I'm currently doing a castle out of Hirst Arts. I'm using pink foam as the core of the thicker walls to reduce weight and cost.
  3. I'm seeing Stephen Tyler in a top hat. Note that that is not a bad thing. Very nice work.
  4. This was my very first thought upon hearing about the idea.
  5. The first one is totally playing air guitar! Can't wait to get mine.
  6. You might want to rethink the setting. A game based on schools with shooting seems like a non-starter in today's world.
  7. Funny you should mention that, cause I just finished the last of my arrrrrrrrrrrgh! (thud)
  8. I got a fever, and the only prescription... You read it first here folks! Brian has promised us a Cowbell Bones mini! Begin speculation on whether this will be a sentient cowbell golem, a scale cowbell that can be hung around the necks of the Bones Herd of Cattle that was obviously strongly implied by his post or a half cow/half bell cyborg.
  9. This is amazing! For what it's worth, I'd say keep the live eye on the side with the live jaw.
  10. There used to be a vendor at the Minnesota state fair who sold pewter minis that were obviously RPG minis, but buffed smooth, blackened a bit for highlights and usually had a rhinestone or two on them. I'm guessing they are either the same thing or very similar. The buffing they did to them removed a lot of fine detail from them from what I remember.
  11. My goblins are all green... (hangs head in shame)
  12. ... and now he has a name. Thanks for all the feedback!
  13. Not my best work ever, but I'm pretty proud of the central eye.
  14. Please, Reaper, you HAVE to make a set of not Stanley and Helen Roper minis! My group is all over 40 and would actually get the joke if I sent them up against the Ropers some night.
  15. The bases are about 28-29mm. Just right for these guys if the feet are near the corners. I'd need at least a 40mm to put them square on the base and have it look right. As for time, I'm painting all six of my vampire set of orcs at one time. The others are all mostly done, but still have a little work to do. I have put a good 10-12 hours at least into the whole gang and expect it will be another 4-5 minimum before I'm done. I'll continue to tweak this guy along with the others until I am ready to set them upon some unsuspecting villagers.
  16. I use thin precut wood squares from the craft store and add Sculpy to them. The wood and sculpy bake together just fine. It's easier to get consistant sizes with the wood base.
  17. Thanks, I used Americana Avocado Dip as a base, Reaper Forest green for shading and a mix of Avocado Dip and Reaper Pale Green for highlights
  18. Here's the first of my Orc band. Nothing fancy. Pretty much the classic colors.
  19. Chin up Gibbergeist. If I'm brutally honest I didn't see anything new or exciting in the models you had on Indiegogo. Clearly you've got bags of talent, I just think you should turn your efforts towards something a little less vanilla, then try again and you can add the orcs as a stretch goal/add ons etc. I have to agree with Beagle. I was very close to backing you. I'm speaking just for myself, but as a big fan of orcs and goblins, I prefer them with a little character rather than just as generic savages. Consider adding a little bit of whimsey to them? I'm not saying you need to do the silly orcs some folks have, just find a way to add a little fun to the sculpts.
  20. I've been looking at this set for a while. Very nice painting! I'll be cursing your name in the near future as I order a set.
  21. I love what you've done with it's gravitational orientation! Looks like nice work!
  22. I loved this till I saw the logo. Though extremely well executed, it paints the figure (pun intended) as an uninformed cheese-eating dolt who doesn't have the good sense to move one state to the west and support a team that all right thinking people should be behind. Disclaimer: I am a Minnesotan who feel obligated to deride the Packers and their fan base at every opportunity, yet I've had Aaron Rodgers and a changing rotation of his wide receivers as the anchor of my fantasy football team since his first year as a starter. I'm a total Hypocrite.
  23. Thanks for the feedback everyone. I do think they are tacky in that the colors and presentation are an assault on the eyes, but I like quite a few of the sculpts and wanted to see if I could make one look respectable. They run between $9 and $17. I've seen this one on the high end before, but got him at $12 regular price with a 40% coupon. The price seems to vary between different Michael's outlets, which seems strange. I'm definitely going to try a few more in the future.
  24. OK, so back when I was waiting for my Bones, I got this idea. Michael's craft store carries the Safari dragons. They are tacky and horrid in every way. But I had a 40% off coupon and they had one that seemed like it could be redeemed. So, I bought one of these in all of it's glitter-covered glory. I decided green wasn't his color. I wanted a shadow dragon anyhow, so he became my candidate. I washed him well, but did not strip the existing paint. Here's the final product. The white spots on the base are reflections from the water effect, not bare plaster. So, did I redeem him, or have I gone ever the line by even considering these dragons?
