Reaper Bones 3: US Zone Complete

It will arrive when it does. It's not as if I've painted all of Bones 1 and 2 yet.

The Walking Dead: All Out War

Sorry I haven't replied earlier, hate it when real life gets in the way of fun Anyway. My main experience of Z games is the board games Zombies and Last Night on Earth. Z's simplistic game play is ideal for one offs, and is adaptable to many different settings (we even did a Space hulk style variant once). LNOE has more character depth, but still plays out very much like a board game. TWD does play more as a story, in fact it felt more like a wargame than a board game if you see what I mean. The play felt tense and in keeping with the source material. It's not blasting hordes of Zs, there are plenty of great games like that. It does do the small group of survivors very well, and that, plus my love for the IP means I'm all in. the expansions give you the chance to play through the story. They sound a little like the old GW LotR books; each following a section of the story and presenting it in game terms. This update https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1744629938/the-walking-dead-all-out-war-miniatures-game/posts/1501229gives more of an idea than I could. TLDR If you want a game that follows a group of survivors in a tense series of encounters then take a look (especially if you like the source material). If you want a mass combat game with hordes of Zombies, it might not be what you are looking for.

The Walking Dead: All Out War

I've had a chance to try the rules now, both solo and two player. The rules really give the feel of creeping around and trying to avoid the walkers, and the threat level mechanic helps. I have written a bit more on my blog (link below).

The playtest rules have been released now, should answer a lot of questions.

The Walking Dead: All Out War

Mantic are pushing this idea of some product being retail only, there were a couple of bits in both KoW and DS IIRC.

The Walking Dead: All Out War

Looking at the image of the boxed game I wonder if there are plans for model vehicles, buildings (like the Mars Attacks ones) and better quality counters. The booster sets may also go some way to filling the spend gap, but seeing Mantic's other Kickstarters I have no worries that the end will be well worth the price point. But, if they don't do Daryl......

The Walking Dead: All Out War

They have looked long and hard at how their kickstarters have been delivered, and made substantial changes especially regarding add-ons (details in the latest newsletter). Hopefully this will help this Kickstarter run smoothly.

The Walking Dead: All Out War

The Mantic blog has some pictures of what is presumably the game on the short video. Also some of the minis. I can't tell what they are made of, but Coral (sorry Carl) looks good.

The Walking Dead: All Out War

Its very much about groups of survivors battling it out over limited resources, the walkers are treated as a hazard rather than a player option. Viable tactics include attracting the walkers to your opponents.

    Dungeon Saga Undead

The zombies should give me what I need for the first quest. These are the normal zombies The two on the right are armoured zombies, and are a nice undead version of Mantic's Bassileans.

    Dungeon Saga Undead

My copy of Dungeon Saga and associated extras arrived at the weekend and i have just started on some of the skeletons Here they are washed and ready to paint. They did need a bit of hot water treatment to bend them back into shape; some of them looked like skeleton limbo dancers, and they needed a foot glueing in place. I like the delicate look of the bones, and the skeleton with scythe reminds me of the old Heroquest classic.

    Dungeon Saga Undead

Yes I could give them a wash before clean up. Thanks for the suggestion. I had thought to try without undercoat on one of the figures in response to a previous request. That's one vote for the zombies. There are also the 'specials (ghosts, revenants or skeletal dwarves, and the famous zombies trolls, plus the bosses; undead dwarf king, zombie troll shaman, banshee and the necromancer.
  23. Looking forward to seeing more of this. I like the Basic D&D vibe, where all elves could fight and use magic.

    Dungeon Saga Undead

Finished!! Unless of course I can't resist going back and messing with them (and no doubt ruining them). I finished off the metalwork with chainmail on the buckles and broaches. Rust patches were added with GW Dark Flesh in patches, then slightly smaller patches of GW Foundation Macharius Solar Orange. Then all the metal work was given another wash of sepia. The bases were given a base coat of Vallejo Model Colour German Grey, then a wash of black. I then took various greys and browns and picked out individual stones, finally tying them all together with a drybrush of Bone White. I am quite pleased with the end result, all fine for board game pieces. I wish I had taken the time to properly clean up the mould lines, but i could hardly see them on the bare plastic; I think they are quite obvious now. Next up either the six zombies or the heroes. What does anybody want to see, and shall I post my progress on here?

    The Tiefling Ten

You never know, leaving them out might help the sale. A good friend of mine once sold his house and included a large 15mm Medieval army in the price.
