  1. I've had it happen with the mahogany and walnut browns. Only thing I did differently was using an enamel for primer. When I went over that with MSP primer and repainted both colours behaved normally. May be nothing but thought it was mentioning.
  2. Not at all impressed with the cat or the log on the first one. The chicks alright, not what I expected from a line called Master Series though. The sci-fi one is quite neat at least, nice dynamic scene. I hope the next lot are more inspiring though.
  3. It sounds like they are pretty much already there. Aren't there a number of triads that are great for various NMM colours?
  4. It was like that in one of the small country towns I spent a couple of years at in Australia too. A lot of people moving away looking for work, I don't know how they all went with that venture of course but I didn't have trouble getting a job there and I was an 'out of towner'. Perhaps I've been lucky, I dunno, but even moving countries didn't hamper my ability to get the first job I applied for. Perhaps I'm just super employable! LOL
  5. While I'm sure that a good education is important in findin some positions I honestly believe that your attitude and willingness to learn on the job has more to do with getting the position you want than a piece of paper does. I've gotten every job I every went for, only worked in retail as a check out chick for 2 months when I was 17 and didn't finish highschool let alone go to Uni. I now work in IT as the manager of our Helpdesk, Training and Documentation departments for a locally owned globally renowned company. If you want it bad enough you have to work for it. You can't just sit at school and then Uni for so many years, walk out and expect a job to land in your lap just because you have a piece of paper that says you can do it. Most employers are more interested in actual experience and ability than they are in paper. How do you get experience without having been in that position before? By working up to it. Start in a call centre, prove you can do that, move into another area of the same company, prove you can do that job. Get noticed by the people who matter. Make it known that you're interested in a particular position and work hard to get there. Good things come to those who work for them, not those who sit back and wait for them.
  6. Looks like I'm going to have to get me a set of these! My birthday is right around the corner, maybe I still have time to drop some hints! LOL
  7. Of course I still like them K! They look even better in real life than in these pics. They have pride of place on my shelf with several other minis that I've bought/been given over the last 2 years.
  8. Wow, who knew this old thread was still hanging around...
  9. Thanks for the comments guys. I don't think it's a klocke sculpt, but I could be wrong.
  10. Great work on the skin and NMM, love the goggles too, very cool.
  11. It's been quite a while since I posted anything here, especially in this section, but I thought it was about time I got back into it. This is my latest complete piece. Comments and critique are appreciated.
  12. I've seen the cracking problem, just recently too. In this case I believe it was because I'd used an enamel primer (for the first time). I've never had problems over acrylic primers but two triads (I can't remember which ones now but they were all browns) had massive cracking issues over the enamel. I agree that it's not the paints themselves that had the problem cause I've used them for months (nearly a year) and have never seen that behaviour in any of the triads until now.
  13. Or he simply doesn't want to post here anymore. It happens.
  14. I'd run a virus checker, I surfed around the site for a while and had nothing attempt to access anything it shouldn't (including the A: drive), I'd say you've picked something up somewhere along the lines.
  15. Cause we all knew everything there was to know about the internet and computers when we first started out. Questions are good, better than having them try to guess something themselves and loosing data, or worse yet, breaking something.
  16. Want a reply from them? Send them 250 emails in one night, after 6 months of calling and emailing New Wave I did just that and got a phone call that very next morning. Still didn't get my product or money back though. I order through CMoN all the time and have never had a problem with them, it's just New Wave.
  17. What about the Golden Skin triad, that ones quite nice.
  18. Looks nice, smooth and even to me. How much did you thin it?
  19. Haven't tried it through the airbrush yet, should have a chance to do that over the weekend though, I'm too lazy to get it out for just one mini so I'll clean up a couple and get then ready. The consistency is a little different to the paints themselves, it's hard to explain but it 'feels' different, thinning it for the airbrush should be the same as for the rest of the line though. I'd be interested in hearing other peoples findings with their own airbrush testing too. Just wanted to add quickly that I have two new fav colours too (well new fav triads) the breonne blue and the bruise purple triads are my current hot favs. I can't get enough of them!
  20. I just wanted to congratulate Anne on a fantastic primer. I finally got to test it out over the weekend and I love it. I've totally fallen in love with the rest of the line as it is but this primer has to be the best brush on I've ever used, and I've tried a lot of brush on primers (both as brush ons and through my airbrush). Thanks heaps for such a great product.
  21. Just got back from the first round of Golden Demon. Here's the break down of how we both went. Paul (Monkey) made it through to the regionals in 2 out of the 5 entries he put in being, 40k Squad (Grey Knights in NMM) and Fantasy Single (Skaven). I made it through to the regionals in 4 out of my 5 entries. Squadron (6 x Pleasure Seekers), Duel (Lelith vs the Tyranid), 40 Single (Witch Hunter), 40K Large (Saint Celestine). My Wood Elf Spellsinger didn't make it (unsuprisingly, she was pretty boring). Her category was taken out by Paul and two of our mates so it doesn't sting too much! *wink* For those of you who don't already know how the Aussie/Kiwi GD works this year I'll explain a little. We have three rounds held approximatly two weeks apart this year. Round one was today and was held in local stores with a maximum of three entries from each category making it through to the Regionals held in 2 weeks. For us Kiwis the Regionals are country wide (cause we're a little country) but I believe that Aussie has it state by state. Then the top three scorers (as long as they meet a minimum score requirment for the first two rounds) in the regionals make it through to the final round which is being held in Sydney Australia towards the end of november. We're rather restricted with our entries too. No scenic or display bases, all models must be mounted on the game legal slotta base. No Open section, and all duels must be on either a 50x50mm square or 60mm round base. Standard movement trays can be used for units but no display boards. So it's all been rather intersting and just a little bit (OK a whole great big huge bit) nerve racking. My hands were shaking so much while I unpacked my Pleasure Seekers that I droped two of them. Luckily they just landed back in their padded box!! So who else on the boards entered and how did you go?
  22. Up until yesterday I was using a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LC43 digital, yesterday I bought a Nikon D50 DSLR, the difference is amazing. I don't even have to remove the yellow cast caused by the lights I was using from images anymore becasue there is none. I also bought a 12" Ez Cube and two photography lamps, wont be here for a few more days but I truly look forward to it.
  23. Yeah, they are set at an insane price but there are still going to be a number of people who by them simply because they are GW, just like there will be people who will always by something new from Reaper or Rackham no matter how silly the price just because it's from their favourite range. It's life, it's Gucci versions K-Mart brand.
