  2. I disagree with playing ahead. The game doesn't slow down that much. We have played 10k or more per side and have never bogged down. Maybe with beginners, but my group has been playing less then 6 months and we are already capable of pushing a force that size. With the ranges in this game, you better be dang sure that someone isn't going to effect an active player before you flip a card. I just think that the game is fast enough without having to speed it up. One of the things we do is to use like colored dice for attacker and defender. The dice colors are nominated for wea
  3. Reminder***Reminder***Reminder***Reminder Brawler6 (Mil-Net name) and I will be running several CAV events at Barracks Battles, a local convention, this weekend. (St. Louis, MO) The convention is Friday through Sunday March 12-14th. It is in South St. Louis County at Jefferson Barracks Park. It will be held in the Grant Shelter. The convention is put on by the BMHGA (Big Muddy Historical Gaming Alliance), which is actually a historical gaming group, but that doesn't stop plenty of fantasy and sci-fi gaming from taking place. We are running three scenarios starting on Friday

    28mm CAV

Has anyone heard anything on the new CAV based 28mm Skirmish game from Reaper? Can you confirm this? What are the clues on it and when can it be expected? Gunslinger
  5. WOW, don't you think they ought to answer thos questions officially? I mean it can really make a difference. If you play 4 people on a 4x6', how do you equalize the deployment areas? Limit everyone to 4'?

  7. What size playing surface is utilized in the tournament? Do they use hex or plain terrain? I just want to know what I will be in for and want to practice in similar situations. Gunslinger
  8. I paint the canopy black and then midnight blue. After that I drybrush a light sky blue over the dark blue, leaving the bottom of the canopy darker. Then I drybrush white over the center m ost portion of the canopy. After that I spray the whole model with a matte sealer coat. Then I go back and brush on a satin gloss coat, sometimes two. (depends on how glossy you want them) This really helps the canopy stand out from the rest of teh matte sprayed model. Good luck.
  9. How many participants are usually in the tournamnet overall? How many competed last year?
  10. Question about Origins Warmaster Tourney... There are 5 Qualifying rounds for the Tourney. If you go to the Origins website and click on one of the qualifying rounds event number it says there are 4 available seats for the event. Should this lead us to believe that there are only 20 expected participants for this tourney? In the event description it says you can play in as many Qualifying rounds as you like and submit your best score. The top 16 scores advance after the 5th Qualifying round. How could there only be room for 20 participants then? If you signed up for each Qualifyin
  11. Yeah I know what you mean Kamut, I hunt them down with my Wild Weasel aircraft as fast as possible. But I picture the "Prowler" Hedgehog as being snoop and poop support for the Mortars. I realize they can only carry one stand so on the attack I only use two stands and two HHs in a section. But on the defense or if they can start deployed on the table I will use the 3 stands and one super HH organisation.
  12. Hey Leech, I checked with Reaper directly about the Hedgehog and their reply was that if you pay the points you can have both an ECCM Pod and a Chain Lock Pod. If you want I can forward you the e-mail. This is great news as my Scout and move FO for my Heavy Mortars is becomming a reality. Actually I tried it out in a game yesterday and it worked great. The HH ended up costing 295 points (added ECCM, Chain Lock, Improved TL [+4 20 Points] Elite/Elite & Improved Armor). It survived the whole game w/only one pip on it but was able to sneak around the battlefield using its ECCM Pod to
  13. Just to clarify, I wasn't saying that anyone should use Elite infantry with only G11s. I was merely stating that the cost per stand with ONLY G11s was 150-points! Emphasizing the fact that they are limited in their ability for the cost. I will give them a shot though. Do you recomend them getting two AT-23s a stand or just one?
  14. You can only have 1 elite upgrade per 2 veteran upgrades and only 1 ace upgrade per 2 elite upgrades. Therefore one model with an Ace/Ace crew requires at least 4 elite upgrades and 8 veteran upgrades. (JOR-2 pg. 105 Updated Rules, The Few, the Proud.) So yes there is a pyramid structure for crew experience levels. (2 Ace per 4 Elite per 8 Veteran) As for your definition of Equipment, while their elite status does increase their modifiers to their ECM and ARM rolls, their actual Armor and ECM stats are purchased for 38 points when you buy the stand to begin with. Again I think it was a
  15. You know on second thought I have to disagree with you. If equipment is how well they use their equipment then what the heck is training? I think it is just a game mechanic that is equally important for CAVs, vehicles, and aircraft, but is unequally applied to Infantry. Given the scope and capabilities of Infantry in the game, the costs are extremely prohibitive as they are designed. First off they should change the terms to "Leadership" and "Training." Leadership would represent just that, how well they are led and directed on the battlefield. Training obviously would reflect the
