Which kind were you trying to make?

Um, from scratch?  The power went out shortly after my bread machine finished making the dough.  I've got some chilling in my garage, I'll try cooking one in a smaller pan on a trivet inside the cast iron Dutch oven tommorow.  Currently debating having some water in the bottom, but I'm worried it will make them too soft.

  2. So I burned the cinnamon rolls badly on the bottom.  Couldn't use the trivet idea on the first batch because the rolls rose in the pan, but I have a good sized pan and metal trivet to try with the second half.  I might try one at a time, just so I have more test subjects.  :;):  The arterial road nearest us is closed for a stretch and there's pretty widespread outages.  We're going to be stuck with no school for another day or two, I think.

  3. In today's food experiment, baking cinnamon rolls with just a cast iron pot and gas stove top.  (Oven requires electricity to regulate temps.) I think this can be done, but I'm going to have to be careful not to burn the bottom.

Power loss no bueno  in this weather, but could you at least keep it on your side of the pass please?

If I could control the snow it wouldn't still be snowing here!

@Thoramel, if I could like your post multiple times, I would. That was such a lovely thing you did for your old dog. Hope your back feels better soon!

So much this!  You did a Good Thing @Thoramel and I hope your back feels better soon!

    Snow ...

and we have to take the cats to the vet. Most of the cats, anyway, they're due their checkup. The complaining will be epic.

Tons of snow here, fortunately I braved the insane lines at the grocery store yesterday so I'm fine staying home for the week if need be.  I really hope that the kids get at least a few days of school this week, though...

Oooh! Should I give Mooch points in Gather Information and/or Knowledge (Local)? Make him worth playing when I send him out!

Only with crows and ravens, but they are NOSY! ::D:

Maybe a dumb as a stump Sorcerer, so eventually my crow is smarter than I am!

I had fun recently levelling up my paladin because her mount got to level up as well.  Her mount had previously taken the Alertness feat, so this time I added Blind fighting.  Combined with the standard warhorse scent ability and her mount is going to be better than most of the party at noticing and fighting hidden or invisible foes.  This amuses me to no end.

  6. It is snowing.  I was not emotionally prepared for this.  Last year's snow was nicknamed "snowpocalypse" by all the local kids, which about summed up how it felt to have school closed for TWO WEEKS due to snow.  They had to cram all those hours into the remaining days, which meant everyone was exhausted and cranky for the remaining months.  Even the hint of snow in the forecast had everyone twitchy last week.  <_<

Maybe if I hustle I can sneak in 20 minutes of painting before my appointments start...  I'm going to need painting therapy this week, apparently.

Welp... I have an appointment at the clinic. On Thursday. Until then we'll see if I magically get better. Otherwise I'll have some explaining to do when I get back to work.

At least going to the clinic will enable me to bring in a doctor's note. I feel like I'll need the "bronchitis is serious business" note

Yay for getting an appointment, hope you're feeling better soon regardless of whether it's awkward to explain at work.

A little bit of good news--my wife still isn't better, but at least we have an idea of what's wrong. The Doctor says she's got erosive gastritis. Not exactly what I wanted to hear, but at least now we've finally got a treatment plan going forward. Assuming the medicine works, she'll be feeling better in 2-6 weeks. I'm obviously hoping for 2, but I'll be happy with what I can get.

I'm glad to hear she's got a diagnosis.  Hopefully there's at least some improvement sooner rather than later.  Personally I found giving up coffee helped more than any single other change, tea is gentler on my stomach.  Doubtless they've already told her that she isn't allowed to eat anything delicious.  :zombie:

Failed a series of rolls over the weekend during an encounter with a vicious attack tricycle. Perception check... nope.  Dex? Nope.  Superhero landing? Noooo......  Hitting concrete face first is not as funny in real life as it is in the movies.  Fortunately, nothing broken, just bruises.

I'm starting to think that perhaps there are more mimics hiding as vehicles than previously thought.  They're just stealthy about attacking us.  Hope your face heals quickly.

  9. As much as I'm not looking forward to Monday...  I am looking forward to having some productive time to myself.  My priority was going to be start painting but since I managed to knock off and break my glasses with the rear hatch of my minivan yesterday, getting new glasses quickly became my top priority.  There's no knowing how long my epoxy repair job will hold.

Fortunately my face only felt smashed, I must have just grazed my nose enough to hurt for a few hours.  Honestly it hasn't been the greatest start to the new decade, things could improve any day now.

Been there, done that, wore out the T-shirt.

Was there some lame homework assignment, specifically designed* to ruin the vacation, too?

    * The teacher would, of course, deny that corrupt goal, but we all know about teachers. :poke:

Only "incomplete work", which all three daughters had, therefore I suspect they overloaded them deliberately.  And naturally the one with the most work left undone accomplished the least over break, probably partly due to the sinus infection/broken elbow/medication change situation.  High school can be a real grind.

Questions for January 4, 2020 dedicated today to @LittleBluberry

What was your favorite Mom [or Dad] memory?

And for January 5, 2020 dedicated to @Zink

What have you caught yourself saying, that made you go "I've just become my Dad [or Mom]?"

#1 - My favorite memory is for both parents, from our trip to Norway.  We drove there from Denmark, met up with my uncle's and stayed in a cabin near a tiny town.  I got to watch my parents act like people, not just parents, which was a new thing for me.  My dad was teasing his brothers, my mom was keen to go see all the Viking churches, it was great fun.

#2 - I can hear my mother's voice every time I tell one of my kids to put on a sweater or a jacket.  Doesn't stop me from saying it, though, it feels like the right mom thing to say.  :upside:

I donate blood once, it's fine. Thank you for your donation have a nice day.

I donate blood twice, the ominous music starts.

Now I'm on every phone list of every Red Cross in 3 states. I don't want a t-shirt! I give blood at work because they give me 4 hours off! Need can't be so critical that you're willing to take my bacteria laden blood! At least wait until nobody in my house is too sick to get out of bed :zombie:

My son is the same way.  Blood type O+, so they call and ask often.  His iron dropped, so now he's taking a hiatus but those vampires keep regularly phoning...
