  1. Interesting. I wonder if this is a shift that took a while to appear once large numbers of Bones became available, because I clearly remember Bryan saying character figs were still most popular in Bones a while ago. This is more a matter or curiousity than anything else, since my own internal logic in the beginning suggested that metal for characters and Bones for monsters was the sweet-spot intersection of both. That monsters generally need Big 'Uns or Hordes, but people being attached to their tiny avatars might make them want a little something special for those. Mind you, my internal logic may not always match reality. Personally, as a player I like my character mini to be in metal. I like the heft of the mini when I'm using it. But as a DM, metal is way too expensive to have all the bad guys and monsters in. Bones is absolutely perfect for me for this.
  2. I noticed that as well. I wonder how many paint sets there will be. Most likely will be. There were 2 paints sets in the last one. I like how they added it as a double goal though. Last time was kind of a let down to wait 100k and then get a paint add on.
  3. Think that's the $1 million mark? Probably, or at least a multiple of 250. Counting out in 30ks, it looks like it'll fall around 500k Goals start getting further and further apart for freebies. Paid goals bight be close to $30k for a while, but free ones are going to need to go up by more than that. I think even a million for that final goal is wishful thinking. We hit 26 goals by the time the of the million mark in bones 2. There are only 19 up until that last monster on bones 3. It won't be over a million.
  4. It wasn't that long but when I put in my pledge, there were only 7 people pledged and I was #491 by the time it was done.
  5. You can't expect Reaper to eat the cost of international shipping. It'd be one thing if it was at all close to the cost of U.S. shipping but it is not.
  6. http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/62777-bones-kickstarter-3-random-discussion-thread/ Here you go. I put it in the same forum so people would be able to see it easily. Why was this deleted? Can you guys create a separate post so we can have somewhere to chat like this one? but in the same forum so people know where it is? Call it the unofficial thread for chatter?
  7. We are still not done. We have 26 more pages to get this one to 200 pages before it opens.....
  8. well, we're talking about going out to breakfast and dealing with it later... as soon as it goes up, it will be live. there is no preview period. Ok thanks. I figured as much but was wishful thinking lol.
  9. So is the kickstarter site going to go live at precisely 10 am or before then? I know it starts at 10 but will it go up a little sooner so we can at least browse it? :)
  10. Hopefully the site comes up before 10 am tomorrow.
  11. This looks really cool. I could be wrong but I don't see a link to the kickstarter anywhere in the post or if it's not active, what date it's going to start.
  12. More huge figures of any kind would be great. There are tons of them in the monster manual/beastiaries but very small number of actual minis.
  13. Are we there yet? Are we there yet? Are we there yet?
  14. I would love way more monsters out of the pathfinder bestiaries. If some how they could just work their way through them that'd be great.
  15. A surprising number of Bones are multipart, though. Skeletons, goblins, orcs, etc. Most of the time it's hard to notice, so the glue usually works. I'd prefer unglued as well, particularly given the occassional sketchy glue job I see, but once I figured out how many "one piece" are actually multipart I began to see Reaper's reasoning as to why it's better to do it. In 9/10 cases it's the overall better option to save end-user hassle. It's one thing when I look at my sketchy eye beast with severe dental issues, and another when I consider multiplying the glue workload by 100 models I thought were one piece but aren't. It's a tricky balance, but overall it's probably the least overall hassle to fix the occassional mutant on my end than to stop gluing at factory. of course not having to pay the factory for assembly might lower the prices to us a bit :) Legendary Encounters will need to be glued to fulfill their mission, so I guess if that taxes the factory resources too much then more Bones may come unassembled. Hard to say, but judging by what impact Bones Kickstarter production has, a big run of LE stuff might push production limits. I have no idea, of course. Just wild guesses. So I missed something somewhere... Is there going to be a Legendary Encounters kickstarter as well? I wish there was an options to have the mini's come prepainted, like with the dwarven forge kickstarter. I actually don't enjoy painting them and would pay extra for this option :)
  16. Our incentive to add funds During instead of after is That funds After never lock additional goals. For one reason or another, at the End of Bones I we had only 1 additional Stretch Goal ready to show, although we probably could have at that time developed a few more, like the Hill giants, or something, given the popularity of the Giants at that time. Knowing the amount eh Pledge Manager brought it, I am confident that had we received all of those funds, we would have been able to announce the Khanjira goal (which we instead saved for Bones II) and been scrambling to produce the art for some of our goal ideas. At the End of Bones II we were guilty of underplanning. We predicted a graph of likely end results, and actually ran out of goals that were realistic* - although with the additional funds from the Pledge Manager, given much much earlier, we could probably have developed art assets for more character figures, having little prepped in the way of large beasties this time around. For Bones III, We are preparing up to 3 million worth of goals ready to reveal rapidly (our goal is to have these assets ready for launch day), with the ability to generate up to 4 million in assets if the rate of funding appears to warrant it. There's a fine line there, because any changes made on day 4, for example, mean all assets pre-generated need to be error checked and adjusted to account for the change, but not having the assets ready is a recipe for disaster. *Basically, any other goals we might have posted would never have been reached so we had never developed the art assets necessary to post them. There was no reason to make them or show new ones, because while we were still climbing, we weren't ever going to get enough for any new goals. As it was Cadirith was funded only because of Pledge Manager funds, and we made it so as not to disappoint. Showing more would have been counter productive. Thanks for answering. I want to say you guys do an awesome job and the last 2 kickstarters have been great. It just felt like at the end it was like wow, we really didn't expect to get this high this time so no more goals were announced. Because the second to last goal was 2.85 and the final one was 3 million and then we reached 3.169, it felt like there should have been ones at 3.175 (which we could have easily hit since it was only 6k more) or 3.2 which we could probably have done if one was announced.
  17. They're called "Stretch Goals". Didn't all the stretch goals get unlocked for Bones II? I believe they had more that weren't shown. We were passing stretch goals at a crazy quick pace, but the next one that would've been after "thank you" would've been too high to hit in the time allotted. I guess but the last stretch goal wasn't anything and they never posted another one with like an hour left if I remember correctly. I thought we could have hit another one if they would have posted it. Better to post something and not hit it and get the extra pledges, than to post nothing.
  18. So I have VERY GOOD NEWS for you. We're changing the system now so that you don't really Lock In an order, you Save it. We'll explain it better in an Update, but the Nuts & bolts are this: During the project, it's all in Pledge Calculator Mode. You can make changes all day every day and nothing is permanent. It remembers your selections, but they can be changed at your heart's content. After the project (about 3-4 weeks, if memory serves) we go into Pledge Manager Mode. Everything you chose from calculator mode is still remembered, but now you have the option to Save your selections. At that point, if you spent more than you pledged, you can pay additional funds for the additional rewards. Any Saved items, now paid for, are Locked. Tthis works like before, but with one major difference! Note that you MIGHT choose to Save your rewards while you still have an outstanding balance (maybe you pledge $150 but accidentally selected only $120 in rewards). In the past you'd have been up a creek, but now you can simply go to the next bullet point If at any time you want to ADD MORE rewards, you may do so. Simply make a second, third, or nth payment (as appropriate) to cover the cost of the additional rewards (and shipping if any) and we'll add those to what's already saved. When we ship, we'll ship all of your different Saved orders as one order, combining them for your convenience. Edit to add: At some point, probably right about the time the boat hits the water, we'll make an announcement that no more additions can be made. At that point, all backers are on equal footing, whether you saved all of your selections on Day 1 or Manager Mode, or on day 300) Edit to ALSO ADD: Be aware that Saved Selections cannot be removed. We'll try to be accommodating to reasonable requests, but to remove an item from your rewards we would have to directly enter the database and manipulate the data by hand - not a thing that is always safe or reasonable. It helps if you think of Saves as permanent. You can always add, but subtraction just isn't practical except in extreme cases. Yes, money added in Pledge Manager Mode does not count towards unlocking new goals, and if every backer added only $1 and then decided to add their funds afterwards, in Bones II we'd have only raised $14,000 and not have even met minimum funding. Obviously this would have not been as good of a bargain in that case. Please balance this knowledge with what is financially responsible for you and your family. We would rather have you not pledge than pledge and endure significant hardship for our product. Ok that is pretty awesome. Thanks for the great news.
  19. Yes the downside, is that added money later does not count towards stretch goals.
  20. I am running an evil drow underdark campaign in pathfinder and they just happen to run across a huge underground cavern that was a miniature version of the surface. It was full of dinosaurs. They ate it up. I actually looked for some dino's in bones but sadly they don't really have any.... yet.
  21. Frost Giants are large but there are other giants who are huge but that is only the base game. You can easily have huge frost giants in the base system, it just ups their CR is all.
  22. Like the giants, massive worm, and eldritch horror in the pics above? :) Yes several different giant types would be nice and I wasn't sure from the pictures if they were confirmed to be in the kickstarter. I was just kind of skimming through though.
  23. I would really like to see some huge figures that are not dragons. Don't get me wrong, I love dragons but it'd be nice to have some other huge figures as well.
  24. They said they had a quick meeting and then would update.
  25. I am sure Sophie will get added in a stretch goal. Maybe 2 million.
