  1. Sigh. So, I upped my pledge this morning on the theory that money may be a good deal tighter in 2021 if I’ve retired. One ship and a Dark Depths plus a core have been added, and there’s room for one more expansion. Nautical 5e campaign at my house in October 2021...
  2. It’s all practice...and with Bones 5 you can get plenty of it. (And magnifiers if you are of a certain age, as I am...)
  3. Yes, that wasn't a particularly well formed question. The implied question, given that Oathsworn is using some presumably consistent resin formulation for figures of a certain size, is whether my badger likely to shatter when it gets knocked off my three foot tall wargaming table onto my hardwood floor. Unfortunately, that points out several more variables that would need definition... As an engineer by training, I'd just do an experiment, but I only have two right now, and don't want to have to replace one.
  4. So, please accept this question understanding that I am already all-in, but as an old-schooler I am not very familiar with resin. I am particularly curious about what happens if you drop it. Chipping is one thing; shattering another.
  5. Ok, I’m all in as well...time to get my all-Landsknecht band together...
  6. So what time of the day is this due to go live?
  7. They are lovely pieces, and I might be persuaded to try one at retail. However, taking up a display painting hobby would put a serious crimp in my gaming with painted miniatures hobby...
  8. I am guessing that it’s probably a historical, but even there, there isn’t anything inherent in the base design to give a clue. I’m pretty familiar with the Prince August molds, though, and it isn’t one of them...
  9. That’s what I thought, until I started painting some of them. I find them to be very relaxing to paint.
  10. I wouldn’t want to jinx October’s remaining work by setting up November goals this early... But it will probably be “more of the same” when I’m ready.
  11. Thanks! I’d order a few more, but they are currently out of stock...
  12. This morning I finished off a few 1/72 scale Caesar figures, from their fantasy adventurers and 13th century knights boxes, plus a Bones saproling as a 1/72 tree-thing...
  13. There is that... so I just noticed that the rest of the wall is implied by the fact that the upper half of the portcullis is not modeled.
  14. Nice looking as a diorama; I’m not sure about the gate piece as a tabletop item with more walls to go with it.
  15. So, I’m liking the 3-headed troll; I have the old Ral Partha Three Stooges one around, but there haven’t been many. Any four-headed troll models ever? Core is starting to look too good to pass up...
  16. I ended up with a nearly mint copy of RuneQuest 3rd edition (1984) on Tuesday. Whether this will translate into minis painting, or a game, remains to be seen...I had this BITD, and looks like the buzz on RQ editions is that it’s still among the preferred versions.
  17. So, here at the mid-month check-in, the 1/72 spearmen are finally done, and I finished the Romano-British, so that’s good. The Middle Earth batch has had a little paint added, but didn’t get touched this past long weekend, and French Revolution is a guilt trip...
  18. I’ve been finishing up miscellaneous projects off my bench lately. Here is the first of the late Roman (or Romano-British successor kingdoms) infantry: The actual castings are a bit rough; everyone is made from Prince August or Dutkins Lil Army molds, and most of the figures are assembled from multiple pieces. I’d be interested sometime to know who thought that it would be a good idea to cast small 25s with separate heads and weapons...
  19. I finally finished the last 4 spearmen for these two stands of 1/72 scale Vikings (the Cold Islanders in my miniatures campaign). On to the orcish army...
  20. Happily, my day is off to a better start... Finished these 1/72 Vikings so I can finally base a unit of 16. These have been stalled for months.
  21. I’ll have a look. I tried flipping the phone for a picture, but that one posted upside down. Editing them and rotating them cleared whatever locked orientation was there. I didn’t have that problem uploading to Blogger, fwiw.
  22. It was a nice quiet day today, and starting to feel autumnal. I decided that my main project for the day was going to be to bake some bread, but I also got a solo Dragon Rampant game in, part of my slowly progressing solo campaign.
  23. And a little solo 1/72 scale Dragon Rampant game while the bread is rising...
  24. Ok, I didn’t take it sideways... Second rise; honey/oat/whole wheat bread.
  25. My fantasy games have generally been pre-gunpowder, but I guess I can make an exception for this one... All the Stonehaven long gun wielders can go into the crew.
