  1. I've been keeping my eyes peeled too. Nothing in the store, no word on the facebook side of things either. The suspense continues, and we await answers to our burning questions... were there actually swag bags left over? Will we be able to buy them or will we miss out?? Will I be at lunch when they're posted?!

Nice to meet a fellow VL.

Not so nice to see that after the initial flurry of posts on the day of the announcement, the KS has gone back to radio silence...

I'm getting the impression we're going to be spending some quality forum time together on another forum on another Paizo-related topic, heh. Maybe Paizo was just not the best company for Ninja Division to model their communications after.

I cannot like this enough....it is like you came into my head and are able to articulate my thoughts.  I am reasonably invested in their Organised Play program (I am a VL), but I get so frustrated with their organisational skills.

Thanks. Ironically enough, I'm a VL too, so I'm in the same boat... at least for the moment.

  4. The more I interact with Paizo, the more my operational expectations for them are lowered--they're not going to communicate well (most of the time), they're not going to be organized about how they approach a problem, they're probably not the people you want vetting another company to make sure it's "real."

But they do feel bad when they screw up, they're pissed off when customers are pissed off, and when you say bad things about them they take it personally because they really care. And while it's not enough to make me believe that they've thoroughly vetted Archon and Archon is going to deliver on the Kickstarter, it's a lot better than nothing. And when you do get one of their releases in hand, they mostly do good work. (I haven't finished reading through the PF2 rules yet so I'm reserving judgment there. Looks like they fixed a lot of nagging issues we had from the playtest though.)

Regardless, I'm kind of impressed they found anyone willing to take this dumpster fire on.

  5. The rollers from Green Stuff World are pretty good. The bag o' base o' crap was an excellent investment whenever I've gotten one, although my first one had an unusually large number of miscast turrets.(Not a standalone piece--just the top of a tank, without the tank.) It's really something that's better off purchased if you've got a few mini-painting friends who're willing to dig through what you don't want.

    Order #87890

    2017 Core Set ($100)
    x2200.00
    Dreadmere Expansion ($50)
    x150.00

I know there's at least one shipped order where the shipping information didn't end up on the pledge manager--because ours didn't, but we got our bones just fine.

It doesn't seem like it's very widespread, though. We got our order shipped as part of the test batch so it would make sense that some sort of API didn't feel like talking at that point.

  7. Another interesting detail is that in the Paizo post they note that Ninja Division retains a license for unpainted miniatures. Ninja Division has been selling prepaints as well to try to make some money to keep the operation afloat--makes me wonder what the status of those will be going forward.

I rember ordering that dragon...do you think the wizkids miniatures will be all new minis or will they reuse the few Kickstarter minis that where released...hopefully Reaper makes some genaric orcs, elves, troll, etc in space type figures

In my estimation, definitely all-new minis. The companies have different manufacturers, use different materials, are packaged in completely different ways... compared to the molds used for plastic production, sculpts are pretty cheap (from what I understand) so the advantages of repurposing the sculpts would be pretty small. But I don't know if we've seen anything official on that.

Apparently the Kraken that was available painted previously will now also become available unpainted. Fingers crossed the ship will go the same way (and get a lot cheaper in the process).

Hopefully the ship will become much much cheaper.

This. Doesn't have to be a thousand times this cheaper, but I just can't justify it at the current price point either, no matter how awesome it is.

I'm pretty sure I'm going to try migrating the Roc to a clear flight pole, but I suspect I'll need something substantial and rigid. Ideally clear, still. Anyone got any particular suggestions?

I would think any sort of acrylic rod... you might be able to get an acrylic straw for cheap with a good diameter that could support a good weight.

Alternately, if you really want to make sure that roc has all the support it needs, you could repurpose one of the "plain" base rollers from GreenStuffWorld... wouldn't get you a lot of loft, but that bird could be made out of lead and the "flight stand" wouldn't care.

i'm the opposite. I got the coreset when I should have just gotten the bits of it I wanted, i don't know what i was thinking. I'm not going to use a lot of the minis in the core set, and not going to enjoy painting them, so i'm not going to get as much enjoyment from them as i would those movie tickets.

what i enjoy are the big things. I like to paint them, i hate painting humanoids and tiny figures. I only do them because the hubby uses them for gaming, except even he didn't need the entire core set. I wish i knew what i was thinking 2 years ago when i pledged for it, hindsight is always 20/20

the value of the core set is amazing, but it doesn't do much when the figures sit unpainted in a box for years because we don't need them and selling on ebay is a horrible pain in the butt that i don't want to deal with, so they sit there waiting to be chopped up for conversion parts.

namely what i'm saying is that not all people get the enjoyment out of it as everyone else, we're all different

Same here, which is why I have avoided any of the sets and only went for add ons. (I cheat and try to buy characters from DnDs Icons of the Realms and Pathfinder Battles as they are usually only $2-$6 each, not a ton more than bones)

We've got some definite Bones Fatigue here. We weren't going to get Core and we were only going to go in on the really exciting expansions. But then we priced it out and with the bits of Core we wanted we were at $98 or something, but for significantly fewer minis... and we ended up wanting a bunch of the extras. Knowing what I know now, I probably wouldn't have gotten Lost Valley, but that's about it.

I can totally see why the roc isn't appealing for display. I'm just excited to have it for tabletop--I need one. Actually, I need at least three... but I got three, so I'm set, right?

Any chance of getting the reapermini.com/bones4 page back? With everyone just starting to go through their Bones, it was a really important page and it's even time-sensitive.

When you change one search facet, it clears all of the facets below it. Seems... unintentional at best? It would be nice to get a lot of the old tags back, too, like the Pathfinder Adventure Path tags, "child" for miniatures of kids, and so on.

All in all, though, it's a nice improvement! I'm a big fan.

The idea is that it only returns valid combos based on the choices above, like the old figure finder. You can still free form search with the search bar at the top of every page.

When the dust settles, I'll add the Bones 4 page back.

    Aha! I stand corrected. Thanks!

You have my apologies for some unsolicited advice: you might want to usability test the new figure finder, if you haven't already. The functionality may be similar to the old figure finder, but it's not at all what I or my wife were expecting based on the "Search Filters" header or the overall design of the feature. I suspect you'd get similar reactions from other users.

I'll definitely be looking forward to the Bones4 page's return. I need to finish my inventory! :). I already imported my account on the beta site just for kicks, and it looks like it's transferred over here no problem. The only thing missing are my old orders, but it sounds like that's expected and they're not coming back, and I'm okay with that.

Thanks again for all your hard work on this. It's a really kick-broccoli site, and a big improvement!

I see absolutely no way of attaching the Efreeti's head. Mine has both arms attached - looks to me like her right arm was molded separately and glued on at the factory. And the head and hair look like they can only be attached prior to the arm being attached? Actually, even if the arm were removed, it isn't clear to me that it would be possible to fit the pieces together.

@terminalmancer were both arms already solidly attached to her body on yours?

Yeah, 99% sure they were. When I get home I'll see if I can demo the assembly in a picture or three--it took some bending of the materials and more force than I was comfortable applying to the new Bonesium models. I was a little concerned I was going to rip the post off when I removed the head afterward.

  14. I agree, it's usually much easier to keep ahold of things and get inspired if you assemble them ahead of time.

After having assembled most of Bones 1 and 2 ahead of time I've started keeping things in baggies and those in plastic tubs because I simply don't have enough space to have all these minis running around pre-assembled, though. If you're going to assemble something look at it as though you were painting it and see what sorts of awful nooks and crannies assembling it would create.

Sometimes you can assemble things part-way to turn the thousands of tiny bits into a few larger bits that still grant you access but are less prone to being dropped and lost in the carpeting.

Or perhaps like Kaladrax there was a miscommunication.....

Shame that this miscommunication was not in the customers' favor...

Well, there were two parts of the Kaladrax mishap. The first was that Kaladrax was too big, which worked out in favor of those who ordered Kaladrax. The other is that Nethyrmaul had to be shrunk to save on materials costs, so Nethyrmaul ended up far too small compared to what was originally planned. They put out a "full-sized, as intended" Nethyrmaul resin a few years back and it's freaking massive.

I don't exactly blame Reaper, though. They've still got to pay for materials and Kickstarters aren't exactly huge profit engines.

  16. Hey @Crowley, thank you for linking your Bones spreadsheet!

I started doing a detailed inventory last night. I've finished... about two and a third expansions so far. No add-ons done, and I haven't even cracked open the core set yet. So far I've found extra bits for two miniatures and I'm missing a base on that crazy zombie thing that everyone's missing the base from. Haven't gotten to the bits that I know are broken yet, of course. We'll have some of that.

The detail is really amazing and it's a lot easier to see than the pure white stuff. So far I'm pretty excited.

Losing a third of a dragon hurt though. ;(

  17. Oof. It gets better and worse! Reaper was more on top of our order than we were. We both wanted a cobra, but only ordered one. And Fire Elemental, lovely spouse that she is, didn't put in her order for wraiths like she wanted. Hmmm. What does that mean?

Did we mean to only get one cobra? Whose was it? We could fight over it, or we could just give it to the first person to paint it... which is the probable outcome.

    ^^ 100% this.

Yeah, agreed. A lot of the assembly doesn't look like it went well. Will have to take a closer look at things tomorrow.
