Bones You'd Like to See, thread #4

Better female representation across classes, and please no more white-beard wizards. There were 6 in the last KS, in addition to the ones already made. That's probably 4 too many. But I'll second corpse tokens. There's 2 in pewter from Warlord, and they're expensive to just buy, but Bones is the perfect place for low-price dead folks that can be used for dungeon dressing, game tokens, base decoration, dioramas, etc. We definitely have need of these figures.

I named my Eldar craftworld Arkushan, back when I played 40K in high school...
  3. We need better female hero representation. Last KS there were very few female minis, and we got a half-dozen beardy wizards, which was about 4 too many, really. Hoping for better gender and fantasy race diversity in non-monster minis, TBH.

And we continue to ignore history, thereby being doomed to repeat it...

Getting to Know You July 2019

Going on vacation starting Wednesday. Driving down to the USA's junk in Florida to visit my in-laws, probably hitting up Legoland and Disney World. Given the problems I've had with my feet lately, I'm somewhat dreading it...

    Pathfinder Rules for Batman

I was thinking something similar. The Vigilante is clearly inspired by Batman, and should have an unarmed combat variant already available...

I don't have Save Dr. Lucky. Just Paizo's deluxe KDL box. Never played SDL, TBH.

Pathfinder (1.0), mostly. For the games that came with minis, like The Others or Rising Sun, then I play those games with those minis, too. Oh, and we use my minis to play Kill Doctor Lucky rather than those boring game tokens.

03867: Aletheia Edair, Duelist: Not a ReaperCon 2019 entry

I really like the look of this mini in blonde. Very nicely done colour work there.

    Dwarves: Kings and Legends

I don't care about having lots of dwarves, as they don't get much play in my Pathfinder games, but that one with the rifle is super tempting... Edit - I'm in for the Early Bird, but we'll see how funds sit when the KS gets to its end and how stretch goals have worked out.

    Bones IV Maggotcrown Bonesack

Very nicely done. My personal plan is to modify a Taoh Tieh into an undead instead of a construct and use its swallow ability with this beastie.

Getting to Know You July 2019

Having studied abroad in Kyoto for an academic year, I was in several. Most of them, I just woke up in the middle of the night, thought to myself "I hope this isn't serious," and then went back to sleep.

Not just invaders. They were Nazi Soviet invaders.

Guys, we really need to talk about Simo Hayha. (mostly copy/pasted from Cracked.com, edited to remove language.) Simo Hayha had a fairly boring life in Finland. He served his one mandatory year in the military, and then became a farmer. But when the Soviet Union invaded his homeland in 1939, he decided he wanted to help his country. Since the majority of fighting took place in the forest, he figured the best way to stop the invasion was to grab his trusty rifle, a couple of cans of food and hide in a tree all day shooting Russians. In six feet of snow. And 20-40 degrees below zero. Can you spot Hayha? Neither could the Russians. Of course when the Russians heard that dozens of their men were going down and that it was all one dude with a rifle, they got [freaking] scared. He became known as "The White Death" because of his white camouflage outfit, and they actually mounted whole missions just to kill that one guy. They started by sending out a task force to find Hayha and take him out. He killed them all. Then they tried getting together a team of counter-snipers (which are basically snipers that kill snipers) and sent them in to eliminate Hayha. He killed all of them, too. Over the course of 100 days, Hayha killed 542 people with his rifle. He took out another 150 or so with his SMG, sending his credited kill-count up to 705. Since everyone they had was either too dead or too scared to go anywhere near him, the Russians just carpet-bombed everywhere they thought he might be. Supposedly, they had the location right, and he actually got hit by a cloud of shrapnel that tore his coat up, but didn't actually hurt him, because he's the [freaking] White Death, [darn] it. Finally on March 6th, 1940, some lucky [so-and-so] shot Hayha in the head with an exploding bullet. When some other soldiers found him and brought him back to base, he "had half his head missing." The White Death had finally been stopped... ...for about a week. In spite of having come down with a nasty case of shot-in-the-face syndrome, he was still very much alive, and regained consciousness on March 13, the very day the war ended.

Generic honey nut cheerios with milk and juice. It's boring, but reasonably effective at keeping me fed. I'd rather have breakfast at Hardee's/Carl's Jr every day, but they aren't anywhere near me.

    Pinning HeroForge Brass

I've been very dubious of their brass minis, but I've been pleasantly surprised with the results on their cheap material, myself. As for the drill, yeesh... I'd probably just glue it down directly, rather than fretting about a pin at this point.

Krylon Matt finish trashed my model

I've been steering clear of spray on varnishes since they started turning tacky on Bones, but paint on matte varnish works just fine. I use bog standard Liquitex paint-on matte varnish and never really have issues with it, if that helps. Edit: Forgot to say, sorry your mini was impacted so negatively.

    .5" Bases?

I've used 0.5" washers and 0.75" washers for small creatures in the past. Here's some pics of 1" and .5" washers with a sculpy topper... FWIW, I hadn't realized I'd bought the smaller 0.5" washers until after I'd already started basing minis. It's not bad for halflings and such, unless they have a really wide stance, TBH. I'm just not thrilled at the lack of consistency.
