  1. It's been awhile but I'm back. I think I had painter's block or something. I just could not get in the groove for paining. Now I am better. Here is the hill giant Krug. Hope you all like.
  2. Keep in mind that this is a year long contest. This gives people a lot of time. Even for people that are very busy. This way it gives people time to change it up a little. Try things they might not normally do. Push their own limits. I like the fact that time is on our sides. For me I like the larger figures but that is not to say I would not get into this if it was for the smaller ones too. I like the ideal of an adventuring party/squad but why not have it your party/squad acting out a scene of what they are fighting. Maybe they ran in to something large and in charge or maybe they ran into another party looking for the same treasure. Either way it will be fun again to start the year long contest. Here is my 2 cents: What Came Through The Portal - Create a scene with a portal of some type and what you think would of came out. Your Adventuring Party/Squad's Best Moment - Create a diorama that would define your party/squad's best moment. Maybe it was when you where fighting a green dragon for his/hers treasure or when your squad crushed the opposed faction. Mainly just a small group of 4 (or more) acting out a scene. Large Figure - 40mm + (This could be put it to bigger sizes) This could go for Reaper only figures as well as non Reaper.
  3. Thanks. I was trying to go for that glazed over eye look. Thanks. :) Thanks. The base came from a milk cap. It was the only thing I had at that moment...lol
  4. It's been a while, but got back the paint bug. Here is my take on the flesh golem. I was looking for the walking dead style but without the blood and gore (for the kids).
  5. This looks epic :)
  6. That would be so much fun. I just might do it. ;) Thanks. I am glad I did buy this. It was a very fun paint. This mini is done to the point of show off but I am going to build a diorama with the worm being the main focus point with just a bit more added to the base. The build will be in the near future because I just got my box of KS2. So I will be busy with those for a while...lol
  7. Wave 10 here and just got my big box of mini's. Dang, going to be busy for years....lol
  8. Here is another great monster in the D&D world. These type mini's are so much fun to paint. I can't wait to put this down on the map in our d&d adventure game night. Hope you all like. Here is the WIP thread - http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/59921-dd-collectors-series-purple-worm-wip/
  9. Finally got this thing done. Here are last of the WIP pics that I have. There are some pics that I did not post but you will see it in the show off thread. This was very fun to paint. I really like the look of the sculpt. Now I can focus on the big box of KS2 that just showed up today. Here is the show off thread - http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/forum/4-show-off/
  10. I used to use the primer I could get at the local auto parts store. For me it dried too tacky. I would put very thin layers on but still seemed to tacky. Maybe it was just me as I see some of you are having no problems. I went round and round with some other primers until I bought Vallejo. It goes on smooth with my airbrush and does not dry tacky. So far (for me) no problems with this primer. Some times I thin it down a little, some times I don't. It depends on the model. They do sell them in different colors. Just depends on what color base primer you want to go with. Not always do I use the same color.
  11. Looks really good so far. I will be keeping an eye on this build.
  12. Thanks. Here is an up date. You can see from the pictures there was a big gap on the belly side and a smaller one on the top side. I had to fill them with some putty. I tried my best to follow the armor plates on the belly into the putty. The putty is easy to work with. Hopefully it blends and does not look too bad. I used vallejo primer and started to put some base paint down. The paint did dry a little shiny but I will fix that after the wash and highlights. The teeth will be the last things I paint. So far so good. This mini is very fun and looks killer. More to come soon.
  13. Agree. The eyes turned out excellent. The color blend is flawless. I can't wait to see when this is done.
  14. These little rats are just down right KILLER. Great jobs on them. Can I borrow them for an upcoming d&d adventure I have brewing...lol With these little things, those adventurers don't stand a chance.
  15. Wow. That color combo just pops out so much. Looks awesome.
  16. Looks really good so far. Great job on the color blend for the base. Going to have to keep an eye on this build.
  17. Thanks. I thought I would go a different route and use grass. I was going to go dungeon floor brick but changed my mind. Thought the outside look might be different. The beholder was very fun but a pain. I had the hardest time with the eyes. I must of painted them 5 times...lol Finally I said this will work. I bought this some time ago when they had it at a really good price on amazon. I did order it from GF9 but the shipping wait time was killing me. So I ordered it from amazon and gave the other one (when it got here) to a very good friend of mine. He already painted his...lol
  18. I thought I should get off my butt on this one and get it done before my box of KS2 shows up. I know that once that box shows up that I will be really busy. Hope you all like. Here is the start of the base.
  19. Thanks all. This took me way longer then it should have. I was going to use this for the year long contest last year but did not finish it until now. I had a heck of the a time with the eyes. That was the hard part. The picture does make it look really pink (even though no pink was used...lol). I will have to use this in my next adventure and maybe they will die of laughter from the big pink beholder instead of his eye rays. LOL I just started the purple worm tonight. I will post picture of the WIP soon.
  20. I'm wave 10 so waiting another week or so does not bother me. I live in Michigan so I know how the roads can get when the snow/temp falls. Keep those reaper folks safe. My box will so up when it gets here.
  21. One of the most powerful and terrifying monsters ever to be put in a d&d adventure. Battle with one of these and you might live long enough to tell the tale. BEHOLD THE "EYE TYRANT"
  22. Sorry for not being able to finish this project in time. I had too many things going on that held me up to putting my full effort into this. I wanted this to be a really nice conversation piece. I will still be working on this. More so when I can finish building my work space again in the basement (that flooded). I still will keep this updated as much as I can but it will be slow. I want to thank all who took the time to comment and follow this project. Thanks
  23. Thanks for all the kind words about my basement. It's been rough so I had to take a break from painting for a while so I don't get burned out. I'm back and have some updates. I hope I can finish this the way that I wanted to. I have the base almost 100% done. I just need to add some finishing up. The beholder itself is coming along really good. I did some highlights and wash to really bring out the color. Now i just need to do a little more highlight on the skin then do the teeth. The eyes I am going to do last. I think this will be the hardest part. Anyone got advice on how to do eyes really good? Hope you guys like this build so far.
