  1. Loading the deck works very well with Spy. Try adding in a cheap solo and buy the book of Tactics. That way you're more likely to go next. If your enemy has a several card advantage over you on initiative, it's much better to wait it out or to pass on your own turn. Make them go when they don't want to that way you can setup a charge. Or let the cards run low and try to get two turns in a row that way you can finish off a troop or something similar.
  2. I usually don't take familiars. Players here know the cost of keeping letting a spell caster live to long so usually they are dead before half the game is over. It does provide some ability to hold back the caster, but for me, it's not enough to pass up one more soldier. I am going to try and take them more often with large casters. Since large casters are easier to see and wound than the smaller ones they may benefit from them more.
  3. If you are talented in the 3d modeling of Medieval Characters, Fantasy Architecture, or Terrain and would like to help on a volunteer to low paying project that could have a decent pay off. Then PM me or email me at [email protected] I can't go into detail on the project other than letting you know it's fantasy based. Here is an idea of what we're looking for in character models: 110-600 polycount Bone Structures and Animations are a must. Level of Detail views will probably be needed, but this is not confirmed yet. If you're interested or know someone that might be, contact me with replies, PMs, or by email at [email protected]. Please include sample pieces of work and some ideas on what you want to work on. (We have a wide range of models we need completed so don't be shy with your suggestions)
  4. I've always thought of stealth as, "You cannot see me. Until I am 12 inches away." So we don't let them get hit by anything that requires a direct target or LoS. We do however let them stumble into AoE. It's part of the the whole, we know your general area, but can't get a lock on you as the target, mentality. Maybe we're playing it wrong, but I don't see how stealth would be different than any other model that you don't have LoS too.
  5. These pictures are horrible, but I'll post 'em up anyway. A little Nightmare Before Christmas scene that everyone should remember. I used 02992: Jack O'Lanterns & Pumpkins, a Warlord Skeleton with the weapons removed(can't find the model number), 03122: Tombstone (6), and a lot of green stuff to build the hill.
  6. I'm interested and if I make it down I'll help run some events. 5 hours drive should be worth it considering I missed all the major cons this year.
  7. Newer Edition Storm Giants: http://wizards.com/dnd/images/Monster_gallery/95.jpg Astral Giants: http://wizards.com/dnd/images/Art_ROTG/4.jpg Archons: http://wizards.com/dnd/images/Monster2_gallery/135.jpg http://wizards.com/dnd/images/Monster_gallery/29.jpg (Archons are medium sized, armored elementals)
  8. You must have missed the topic where the sculptor said that it wasn't intended as a mask, but can see how people see it that way now. I think the face is unsettling, but I absolutely love it! The strangely shaped eyes give it an unnatural and more monstrous look. I plan on painting her up as if it's her face, not a mask. Now Hurry and sculpt more Giants!! I need some Storm Giants and how about some Astryal Giants too.
  9. Different kind of metal and lower prices. http://www.reapermini.com/P65FAQ
  10. I said the same thing when I saw it. It looks like I'm stocking up on Dwarves soon.
  11. Many models should be able to move over the wall too. If it's small enough for a few archers to hide behind, it's also small enough for a horse to jump over or an Giant to step over.
  12. The game will soon have tiny blood stone gnomes to squish, giant werewolves to cleave in half, and frost giants to torch and slaughter. Why would you play anything else?
  13. In 4e giants have taken on much more elemental roles. They have also paired each type of giant with a Titan. I liked this idea so much, that I've based my campaign around it. Hill Giants/Earth Titan: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/Monster_gallery/94.jpg Fire Giant/ Fire Titan: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/Monster_gallery/93.jpg Frost Giant / Ice Titan: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/Monster2_gallery/39.jpg Stone Giant/ Titan: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/Monster2_gallery/35.jpg Storm Giant/ Titan: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/Monster_gallery/95.jpg Death Giant/Titan: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/Monster_gallery/92.jpg Edritch Giant/Titan: http://www.wizards.com/dnd/images/Monster2_gallery/80.jpg
  14. So those Cannibal Halflings from Baldur's Gate 2, in the Planar Sphere were from the Dark Sun settings? I know nothing about dark sun, can someone give me an idea of what kind of setting it is?
  15. It says "within 2 inches", so I always played that it the entire model has to be within 2". So giant models would have to be in B2B with the summoner. That could use some clarification though. My estimates were high for the daisy chain, but I was thinking of doing it with multiple troops. Activating everything as a single troop would land you a strong focused attack. Against a faction like the elves it can be twice as brutal. Alot of their models are glass cannons, taking them on in such a way would be fun for the darkspawn player. Some things to keep in mind when using the Summoning tactic, so other Darkspawn players can make use of it: Think about your initiative card count. Don't be afraid to put a few archer leaders out to boost your initiative card count, and then summon their soldiers into other troops. If you Daisy Chain your entire army, don't spread to far out. Make sure to get your support bonuses and go for the softer expensive models. Mages and Rogues make delicious snacks for demons. Make sure you have multiple Summoners and make sure they can take a hit. If you mess up on initiative and your enemy takes out your summoners before they summon, you can lose a game pretty quickly. Remember to use both of your actions once summoned.
  16. I really think that Reaper just needs to have some kind of contest so we can all get this out of our system. As sad as it is, I also will probably make some kind of dingle berry conversion.
  17. It sounds incredible, but on the table it just isn't all it's cracked up to be. When attempting to do it, you end up with a string of 8-12 models that end up doing nothing but summoning. Even with Imps that ends up being at least 120 points, usually closer to 200. The 2" summoning reach is more limiting than you would initially think. That missing 10% to 20% is huge when you're setting up to engage almost all of your army against almost all of their army. Since you jumped across the board, the opponent has easy access of your models, just as you had of his, except 100% of his army can reach you. It's a hard balance to describe, but it's clear as glass once you try it out. Now in scenario games, things get a little more interesting.
  18. I totally missed the... exit ramp... on the model. Wow. I want to get 9 of them. It's too bad they won't be in an army pack.
  19. Welcome to the forums, it's always good to see new people popping up on the forums. Let us know what faction your playing or how you got into the game.
  20. I want to see a bunch of figures done as part of the elemental Chaos. Genasi (preferably fire, storm, and air) Archons (especially storm)
  21. After the long wait, I'm so happy to see that the eye tyrant has a sculpt worth his Warlord status. Love it. The Arcane spell Barrage on this guy is a MUST. It is awesome watching him just carve holes into enemy lines from 12"s away. Toss on Flaming Arrows and this light up the enemy with fire. Love this figure and I'm glad I won't have to proxy anymore.
  22. Here is the rule: " If the summoned model is not a Solo model, it automatically joins the summoning model’s Troop, ignoring Troop Capacity." So yes, you can overload a models troop capacity through summoning. You can summon all of your other models that you have waiting off board to be summoned into a single leaders troop.
  23. Ah Sir Broderick. He rose quickly through the Justicar ranks, making it out of several battles by the skin of his teeth. His resilience was not ignored and was appointed to command. He once led the Justicars, but soon tossed his shield and sword aside for the warhammer that he now holds. Although the weapon grants him unique advantages, his quickness to toss aside the fighting of the holy justicars upset many. The Justicars refuse to listen to him and while he still holds his rank of Captain he has been limited in the quality of troops he is allowed to lead. Rumor has it that there is a Mounted Ivy Crown by the name of Vernone that several Justicars have followed into battle and returned with stories of great success. Whether this ivy crown seeks a place among the justicars or even the lion lancers is yet unknown.* *Not that any of this is true or official of course, it's just an example of how I view the situation.*
  24. I think you get to use anything reaper produces. So you should be able too.
  25. A succubus flew by the party, trying to get a magical weapon before them. She was there waiting to use it on them when they caught up. The ceiling was open, making it a perfect place for the flying model to make an escape and eventually turn into the BBEG for the party to seek out. What I didn't expect was for the player who I let play as a Minotaur to roll a natural 20 on a jump check. When I asked why, he said he wanted to try and grab the succubus. After slamming her to the ground she was turned into demonic mince meat. Silly large models jumping and grabbing my NPCs. Another memorable one was when they started hearing voices in an abandoned temple. Instead of searching the place and entering the deep catacombs to free the cursed ghosts, they got scared and left the place. After they took a smoke break, they came back in and told me they aren't leaving the temple yet. They began to blast it with everything they had, tearing it down into nothing but rubble and leaving the undead trapped underneath. I think one of them got a peek at my notes and told the others... so I got them back.... Instead of lost souls, I decided the temple was actually an ancient seal holding an ancient demon in limbo. When the place finally collapsed, the demon went free. I was just going to let it fly away, giving them a good scare, but they jumped in to surprise me again. The minotaur drank potions and they cast every buff spell that they could. The minotaur fly into the air, with the party joining him in the next round. I looked up some stats, and we traded blows for one round. After that the minotaur was plummeting towards the ground unconscious. Needless to say, they never looked at my notes again.
