  1. I've lived in the Dallas/Ft Worth metroplex most of my life (minus 7 years while away at college), so I'm a bit of a homer. I really love the area and probably would not live anywhere else long term. You must have a car. Everything is very far apart and public transportation is mostly non-existent. People from here talk about Dallas/Ft Worth, but the two cities are 30 miles apart. I live in Mansfield (a suburb southeast of Fort Worth) and my parents live in Plano (a suburb north of Dallas). It takes me just over an hour drive to visit them. If you have kids and are interested in looking into the quality of the School/District, go to www.txschools.gov. It's a recently created site by TEA (Texas Education Agency) that is actually really useful and user friendly for looking up academic performance data on schools.
  2. Thanks for the kind words everyone. Played Zombicide Black Plague with my wife for the first time. It was a great day, and now I have some new minis to paint up.
  3. Wow, that is a really awesome mini. Nice effect on the horns. Thank you for sharing.
  4. I really love the progress you're making, and the wooden arm looks awesome! It may just be me, but I don't like the off-center placement on the plinth. Would a sloped-front plinth give you enough space for the arms? Something like this?
  5. I really enjoyed this. The central eye is fantastic, and the fake eyelashes really take this piece over the top.
  6. Really nice conversion. I picked up a Shadow Demon in bones with the intention of doing a similar conversion into a Nothic.
  7. I, too, would love a base vegetation class. I've taken a couple basing classes from Michael Proctor. Both were great, and he offered a little bit of vegetation knowledge during this most recent one, but I would love to get a bit more in depth on this subject.
  8. Really nice. The shields steal the show on these.
  9. I'm pretty sure I'm registered for a couple classes. At least, I paid for a couple. Wow, the Growtix interface is terrible. It was not easy finding the area to purchase "pre-registered" classes. I also can't find an easy-to-view schedule of classes paid for/registered. It's especially hard for classes offered on multiple days since the only thing I can find is a list of class names (but not dates and times).
  10. Really nice. I really like the highlights/shadows on the right side of the face. The left side, not as much. It could be the sculpt that forced your hand a bit, though. The straight-on shot shows some asymmetry.
  11. Wow, that's amazing. I thought that first pic was concept art until I noticed your little ninja painter in the corner. The lava base is superbly executed.
  12. Looks really good! I'm a fan.
  13. Thank you for the leads and references. This is exactly what I was looking for.
  14. At Reapercon I purchased my first resin bust. I did this to try something new, and also on the recommendation from Michael Proctor in his Crazy Colors class. He advised his students to try painting a non-human bust, so I went with Scale75's Napoleork. The problem is I don't know anything about busts. Mostly, where do I acquire plinths, and how do I attach the bust to said plinth? Any and all assistance, guidance, and/or direction is appreciated.
  15. Wow! That is amazing. Such vibrant colors!
  16. Really cool. I think the effect is more successful on the back, as opposed to the front. It may just be the sculpt lends itself to it more, though. I really like the flames on the shoulder pad and the battle scars.
  17. Your flats are always amazing. I hope you finish this in time to see in person at ReaperCon.
  18. Great looking ship. I'm sad to hear about Renaissance being no more. They made some fantastic looking stuff.
  19. Happy Birthday! I really appreciate everything you've taught me at ReaperCon over the years.
