For years the forum was Reaper’s only social media and it was where the main bulk of Reaper’s customer base sought out information and socialised with each other. That is no longer the case and has not been for years. The forum, though still seen as valuable otherwise they would not pay to keep and maintain it, has only become less popular and it does not see much, if any, growth. Most accounts on here haven’t been logged into in years. Most new accounts end up either being spammers or people who visit once or twice and do not return. The main bulk of posts on the forum are made in the off topic section and for the most part have nothing to do with the hobby or Reaper. It does not, in any way, serve as an efficient or timely way to quickly get out important info to the main bulk of Reaper fans. That is not Reaper’s fault, that’s not the fault of anyone here either, it’s just the way that things have evolved. It is also the way that technology has evolved where other platforms provide a faster and more efficient way for information to be provided. That is how technology changes things and companies have to change with it. As much as some of y’all are not interested in going somewhere else, even more people are not interested in joining a forum. That’s just a fact that is supported by viewing the statistics across the social sites. It should be clear that Reaper is never going to hire a dedicated PR person that does nothing else. It is only a dead horse and beating it is pointless. Everyone at Reaper wears multiple hats, it has always been that way and I think it’s a pretty safe bet to say that it will always be that way. It is how Reaper operates. It is both a bad thing because all of their plates are constantly overly full and also a plus that the owners are not and have never been above going and doing the work wherever they’re needed. Beyond that, y’all want more information than any company ever gives anywhere. Please point out another company that will pull a stock list on a container that just came in just to tell one person if a restock of the item they’re interested in is on it. Please point out another company that would livestream them packing boxes simply because they know people are hyped up about receiving something. Please point out another company that makes as much of an effort to give out free daily education and resources, multiple venues where you can ask any question you want and have a chance to actually get it answered or shows as many previews and sneak peeks as Reaper does. Are they perfect? Absolutely not. But as much as y’all seem to think they don’t listen to criticism they absolutely do, you’re just not always going to get the answer that you want. But the complaint isn’t really that the information isn’t there, it’s that it isn’t presented in the places that some people would like them to be. It’s that you have to go somewhere else to find it instead of having it brought to you. It’s that it’s posted in the wrong thread or on a platform that you don’t personally like. On all of the other socials it is understood that you might have to go to where the information is posted and otherwise you might have to just ask someone. I don’t know why that causes such consternation here. Normally when there’s a cancellation of Reaper Live I go and sit in the chat for 20-30 minutes and put out a couple of notices in case people missed the announcement. I was not able to do that this last time because I got stuck in traffic. I’m sorry that I was not able to do that this time. I’m sorry that some people are upset that the stream was cancelled, but please be aware that the streams are never guaranteed. If you attended the daytime streams then you would know that despite the fact that I run the twitch during the day, I do not always know the status of the evening streams. That is because the daytime streams require coordination between myself and only one other person. It is easy for me to communicate with just Anne, Rhonda, Luca or Josh. However, the evening streams have to be coordinated with multiple parties and sometimes things just don’t work out and sometimes even I don’t find out until right before the stream was meant to go live. It’s just the nature of the beast and the one thing that I can guarantee you with complete certainty is that it’s not the last time it’s going to happen. So again, I suggest that if it is important to you to be absolutely certain that you get timely updates on stream cancellations, you should join the discord.

As a courtesy, I copy stream announcements to the forum. I post them in Randomness because that is where Serenity kindly posts the stream start times (and sometimes copies over notices before I make it here) and because the information is generally only relevant for a few hours at most and as Chaoswolf stated, it is where people commonly ask stream related questions. If you were not previously aware that I post updates there, I’m sorry, but you are aware now. If it is important to you to get updates when there are cancellations on the Reaper streams, then the appropriate action is for you to join the discord and sign up for the @STREAMING role. The discord streaming channel is the central hub for such announcements and has been for well over a year.

Hi friends; the creation of this thread was discussed and we came to the conclusion that because memes have always existed in the Randomness thread and continue to be posted there and now additionally here as well, there's no need to have a separate thread for them. The Randomness thread was created as a catch-all thread to corral such posts to have a centralized thread of silliness to make things easier on moderation staff. It has always been a place where anyone can feel free to make whatever random off topic posts they like, so long as it's within the rules. Occasionally, topics being broken out from Randomness are allowed because they are of a certain consistent topic that benefits from having a dedicated place for reference, for a very specific discussion and/or so that things can follow a consistent thread - the daily question threads, for instance. As memes are just funny pictures and don't follow a common theme, they belong in the Randomness thread. As such, I am locking this thread. Please continue posting memes, jokes, comics, musings, etc. in the Randomness thread where no one should feel discouraged from posting any random content that has always been welcome in the Randomness thread. This was brought up on the discord and I corrected it there so I want to correct it here as well - slapchop is NOT zenithal highlighting. Zenithal highlighting is priming in black, then picking a single direction for the lighting on the model to be coming from and hitting that with a white primer. This can be done via airbrush or spray can or even drybrushing. Slapchop is priming in black, then drybrushing ALL of the raised surfaces, no matter the direction of the light, with a grey paint to serve as an undercoating of midtone, followed by a drybrushing of white for the highlights, then painting with contrast paints or any other transparent colours. It's a method specifically designed for speedpainting armies as quickly as possible but still with a nice result. But it is not just about the priming, slapchop is the entire method - prime, then grey drybrush, then white drybrush, then transparent colour on top. Muddying the waters, some people have taken to combining the priming/grey drybrush steps with a zenithal prime to improve the final result (see Ninjon's Slapchop 2.0) Slapchop is not really anything new - the previous fad term for underpainting in black & white followed by transparent colour was "sketch style" and both are a new term for the centuries old classical painting technique called grisaille which is a monochromatic technique that can be used alone or as an underpainting followed by transparent mediums to add colour. No matter what these things are called, if they help someone with their painting, that's a great thing, but I think it's important to understand what terms refer to in their entirety.

I don't know exactly what was pulled, but I know that boxes for the UK were pulled on Monday at the same time that they built new ones to put up in the US store. Typically the shipping time to the UK store has been running 1-2 weeks, give or take. Sorry I don't have clearer info than this. I'd use your best judgement on whether you want to continue to hold a cart.

Camera equipment ETC. Some things that I know are on peoples minds: Bones 5.5 - since the second container arrived right before ReaperCon, we will start sending out the remaining bones 5.5 orders next week! ReaperCon swag boxes - We are currently building more and getting them setup to add more stock on Monday. Super washes — I have been informed that these will be coming out but not for some time individually or in a set, we wanted this to be a trial run and make some iteration’s if needed! So if you received the super washes from the Barrowgate box, test them out and let us know!
