  1. Got the second Warhawk finished barring decals... waiting for the tactical decals from FPG. These two have been sledgehammers in two games; really like them!
  2. I’ve also tried contrast with CAVs and some CAV vehicles and like the effect. Two coats of Militarium green over a light grey base + sponge damage + edge highlights looks pretty good for the time put in!
  3. Little progress on mine. Nothing crazy but everyone at least has a base coat and is washed!
  4. Understand! Mostly it's just a chance to get some stuff done! :)
  5. If you make the understrength sections a "Specialist section" you'll have a legal list. Attack: 4x Commander II's Specialist: 2x Chieftains At the end of the day we are just promoting paint jobs to our big stomps (or tanks or infantry or aircraft!)
  6. If you can get several stands into a single combat you can overwhelm the CAV and damage it. Bonus points if it's CCV is horrible haha
  7. I'm going to run with two sections, one attack and one flight (attack.) Crusader 2x Warhawk's Spartan 2x Crossbows. The points are low enough I can swap in a Duelist, Halbard, or Warlord for the Crusader (I haven't seen these guys do much on the field for me or opponents so we'll see.) I'm spring boarding into a possible CAVCon 2020 tournament list that is still not completed. Still have to trade for an unpainted Crossbow but I have time on that front. I should be able to get everything base coated and washed today at work.
  8. Announcing a little Challenge: 2020 2,500 TV Painting Challenge! "Rules:" 1) Create a legal 2500 TV CAV force using whatever models you like. Just remember you need an attack/specialist section first, then something else. 2) Decide on a scheme. Your figures, your paints! 3) Get them painted. Seems self-explanatory? 4) Finish by February 13th for bragging rights No prize for this one! Start off 2020 with a bang and a skirmish scale, fully painted CAV force! Post your list here or on the Big Stompy Podcast's (@BigStompyPodcast) facebook post and don't forget to track your progress!! Lots of photos at different stages!
  9. I received mine from Jasper_the_2nd the other day! Great job and thanks!
  10. Finished mine on January 1st. Oops! I’ll have it on the mail Monday!
  11. For Templars, I'd say assemble two or three of your Warhawks as they'll be your troopers. One or two Crusaders and Duelist, one Centurion, three or four Spartans, and two or three Gladiator II's. if you want to lob rockets with CAVs, assemble all of your Sovereign III's! For Malvernis, assemble two or three Butchers as they'll be your troopers. All of the Haunts as they work well together or with other FCS units, one or two OBake's, and all the vehicles as their vehicles are fantastic! One or two Revenants, all four Shadows and you should be good to go!
  12. I think things are shipping today for US customers... but I'm not "there!"
  13. Something we'd discussed at CAVCon, but I wanted to make sure. Can aircraft engage other aircraft that are flying Nape of the Earth?
  14. Testers Acrylic Model Masters flat black with a brush or airbrush and Testors Acrylic Model Masters Grey primer via airbrush (too thin to brush with) I've avoided rattle cans for years as I've had horrible results :-/
  15. Pfft! I could offer them to you, but we already know the answer to THAT question don't we?
  16. Yup old metal Manticores! I have four of them!
  17. Been up for a few weeks but I forgot to post here! 6.5 will also be releasing tonight or tomorrow! In this episode we cover ECM, APA and a casual Templar unit called the Royal Blues. Episode 6.5 will cover our experiences at SoonerCon and a run down of the KS3 units you can get until June 30th! Enjoy! https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/bsp-episode-6/id1450270372?i=1000440560189 http://thebigstompypodacst.libsyn.com/bsp-episode-6?fbclid=IwAR0JrvjeYhSIcf3OGsSv01XHIAOR9Gh4irXE8lMO_vxN-F-4QPXykecsNNw
  18. Not for the Warmaster or CAVCon Tournamet!
  19. Haha! The name of the event in-universe was called Warmaster. I just report 'em as I get 'em! The point limit is 2500 with 500 in bonus TV for upgrades. You can only take two of any one unit, and only one unit in your force can be Bulky. You need at least four units and have a max of six. It's a super specialist squad so you can have CAV's, tanks, and fliers in the same list! A list might look like the one I talked about using in the Pod Caste: Starhawk VI (Veteran, Lieutenant) Falcon (NCO) Nightshade (Turbo) Talon (Turbo) Tsusikie II (Amped MRAC) Tsusikie II (Amped MRAC)

  24. So we had another game yesterday, Ritter vs Ritter. Possible CAVCon lists duking it out under the rules for that (at least that we know of so far!). Lists: MiniAddict and Son's Ritter Attack 2x Tigers SAbertooth Cougar Specialist 3x Mastadons Panther II Recon Catamount 2x Cougars Sabretooth My 5th Marienburg Dragoons Ritter Attack 2x Cataphracts Sabretooth Cougar Specialist 3x Silverbacks Cougar Recon Catamount 3x Puma's Turn One Turn one gets started with Mastadon poo flying all over the field, surpassing two of my Silverbacks, a few recon units, my attack units, and just being annoying. Shock (8) ain't no joke! That said, I went first and drilled the recon Sabretooth with some heavy Guided Missiles and put four damage on it if I remember correctly. The rest of the forces were just lobbying for position, aka moving forward. Turn Two My Silverbacks spend a CP to remove their State: Supressed and they then proceed to finish off the recon Sabertooth. I don't remember who else they picked on, but that was about it. My attack section suffered under their suppressed state and did a little damage to one of the Tigers and suffered a point in return to the non-CO Cataphract. Mastadons switched to picking on the recon elements (aka those that they can actually damage.) Turn Three Now we get into the highlights. Sorta. The Tigers split and one moves and picks on the closest Silverback doing two damage while the other goes to face down my attack section with the Sabretooth. My Silverbacks respond and drop that Tiger down to track 9 (seriously, don't sleep on heavy Guided Missiles!). The other tiger takes a point of damage for all my efforts with my attack squad. More Mastadon recon sniping and I was able to jam his Catamount for a couple turns in a row, denying it's APA2 and ECM2 for awhile. Turn Four Wow, this turn was pretty much the end of the game. The highlight though? When his Mastadon's do activate, one of them rolls a double one, so I get to chose it's strike point. I put it on the mauled Tiger and MiniAddict kills said Tiger with the damage roll. It was also the CO. Guess he'd pushed that Mastadon pilot too hard in PT or something! My attack section benefited from the CO and APA and combined fire on the other Tiger and took IT down to track 9. The rest is a blur. I know their remaining Sabretooth started snipping at recon units, helping the Mastadon's clear them out while the Tiger did two damage to the Catamount before being demolished. Turn Five Mop up operations start from here. The Tiger gets snipped by the Catamount to finish it off, while my Attack section puts some fire on the Catamount and cripples it. A Silverback wanders that direction and lobs some missiles for fun at the Sabertooth and nearly blows it away. The other two Silverbacks kill the two recon squad Cougars. I lost Puma's like crazy though and I believe this was their last turn. Turn Six Splitting fire, one Cataphract kills the Catamount, the CO kills the Panther, and the Sabertooth kills the attack squad Cougar. Just like that that whole flank disappears. The Silverback kills his Sabertooth and the destruction is total. The other two Silverbacks put four damage on his center Mastadon and while mastodons focus on my cougars and kill one eventually. Turn Seven-Eight Attack squad finishes off the Mastadon in the middle while the Silverbacks focus on the far right side Mastadon and do four or five damage. We call it after that. So, in conclusion, I still feel the Mastadons can't carry their weight at 1720's threat value under the CAVCon Tournament rules. They just don't do enough damage for the points. They are good at weeding out recon and low armor elements, but at the expense of the rest of the force. While guided missiles were "nerfed" after the first CAVCon, they are still pretty robust and strong. They aren't instant suppression like the Mastadon's AoE of doom, but at Shock (6) it can come up from time to time. I liked how my list operated though with the constant bombardment of my recon elements, lost out on some of the highlights I'd hoped to bring. APA2 came through in turns 3 and 4 and helped swing the numbers to really dispatching my opponents units!
