  1. Zink - yeah, I'm a 'paper guy' myself! On the FB group there are several people who play with their kids. Hope you enjoy it.
  2. One of the biggest differences is the inclusion of skills. So in most games, there are skills rolls that either effect how the table is set-up, or how you interact with the table during the game. Worth watching the GMG video if you are interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gPikm35IKNM The Print on Demand version is now available for those that are interested.
  3. There is going to be a video play through tomorrow from Guerilla Miniatures Games, which will give you lots of details. Until then - each player plays a ranger and it can handle up to four players. Each player has a number of companions based on the number of players (1 player will have up to 7 companions, if 4 players, they have a max of 1 each). For the most part I've tried to keep the monsters pretty generic. For mission 1 (2 scenarios) you'll need zombies, giant rats, and giant spiders (or any proxies that make you happy). Mission 2 (3 scenarios) mostly features gnolls (although orcs will work fine). The first 3 missions (so 8 scenarios) have nothing to 'spoil'. The final mission, with a potential 9 scenarios does. So if you want to give a try, play the first three missions solo, but save the big one for the group.
  4. Hey guys, Need a new excuse to use some of those great reaper bones minis? Then this might be of interest. Now available on RPG Now [Moderator removed commerce link.]
  5. Many thanks - black-lining is as close as I can claim to a 'style' of painting.
  6. I had so much fun painting up this guy, that I just had to create stats so I could use him in Frostgrave. https://therenaissancetroll.blogspot.com/2018/11/eye-demons-in-frostgrave.html
  7. Good looking paint job, I love the little random snow effects.
  8. No doubt about it, you know how to set up a Frostgrave table!
  9. If you get something organised, make sure to contact Osprey Games, they have a few freebies they send out for organised play.
  10. This one is for you guys - rules for Arachno Assassins in Frostgrave: http://therenaissancetroll.blogspot.co.uk/2016/07/arachno-assassins-in-frostgrave.html
  11. Sorry, I missed the other question about group activation. This may have to do with the slight confusion between group and normal activation. In normal activation a wizard can activate himself and up to three soldiers. These figures then activate one at a time. In this situation, a figure with one activation may take any action it wishes. Group activation is a special case where all figures must move as their first action, they they all perform their second actions one at a time. In that situation, a figure with one action must move, if it wishes to be part of the Group Activation. For those that don't have anyone to play with - might I suggest picking up the Dark Alchemy ebook: http://amzn.to/29lAF2k This includes three solo scenarios!
  12. It is the one year anniversary of Frostgrave! In celebration, I have written a 'State of Play' report and am holding a contest on my blog. Stop on by for a chance to win! http://bit.ly/29ILR4U Chris, good thinking with those poker chips! It probably makes the initiative spells more useful as well.
  13. Yup, it's amazing what leaving one little detail out of a spell description can do....ooops....
  14. Hey guys, I've assembled a complete list of everything I have written for Frostgrave, both for anyone who might be interested, and so I don't forget! You can view it here: https://therenaissancetroll.blogspot.co.uk/p/frostgrave.html
  15. Hey guys - Osprey are aware that there was a binding problem with some of the copies from one of the early print runs, and they have been replacing those bad copies. Just send a photograph of the book damage to [email protected] and they will sort you out.
  16. Frostgrave author here. Basically, someone asked does the push spell only push someone around on the horizontal plane, or will it also push them up if the casting wizard is underneath. The answer is the later, it can push someone into the air if the angle is right and nothing gets in the way. There was a second question of if someone is pushed off a height above the ground will they fall immediately and then continued to be pushed, or do you do the whole push and then fall. The answer again is the later. In both cases this is playing the rule exactly as written. For whatever reason, people got heated about the topic. It's all a bit of a storm in a teacup really. If you don't like the rules as written just house rule it. Frostgrave was designed to be fun - not watertight. There is an official errata on the Osprey site, you can find it here: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bwx8Os21jzeXNGJfMzE0cmpZOUE/view I try to keep it updated as best I can.
  17. Generally I'm pretty happy for everyone to make 'stuff' to support Frostgrave as long as it is being given away for free. For something like the app, I doubt it will include much that hasn't been posted up for general usage already, but it would be good to see.
  18. It's probably one of the greatest challenges a rule-writer faces - coming up with new interesting material that doesn't break the game! Thankfully, there is a lot of room to expand Frostgrave in depth of theme, and giving players more options that don't effect power levels to greatly. That said, everyone makes the occasional mistake!
  19. I'm almost certain that they included that new soldier type solely for Oswald. I can neither confirm nor deny this. However, I always loved that figure.
  20. Osprey doesn't 'own' any of the wargames it publishes, at least to date. Force on Force was, and is, owned by Ambush Alley. Osprey just acted as the publisher. Dan Mersey owns Lion Rampant and Dragon Rampant (both really good if you want low-rules, small army games), Frostgrave is owned by myself, but certainly Osprey have contributed a huge amount to making it the beautiful product it is!
  21. Great looking piece! I love the way the cork walls can be crumbled into perfect rubble.
  22. Frostgrave - Charity Scenario. (http://bit.ly/1EHbmQQ) Hello everyone. First off, I just want to thank everyone for supporting my game, it's been wonderful to see all of the figures and terrain people have painted or made and to read all of the battle reports and backstories people have posted. It has long been a dream of mine to somehow combine my love of fantasy gaming with doing a bit of good in the real world. Like many, I have been struck by the plight of the Syrian refugees, and wanted to do something to help. So, I've done what I seem to do best at the moment, I wrote a new scenario for Frostgrave. I have posted this scenario on my blog for everyone to enjoy. I am just asking that anyone who plays this scenario or adds it to their Frostgrave collection to please donate £1 to Save the Children. I have set up a MyDonate page with a link from my blog. I'm hoping to raise £500. Thanks again everyone, and enjoy your adventures in Frostgrave.
