  1. I have been watching this one, just my limited perspective. I have recently run three kick starters for bases and accessories, now to be fair they were color 3d printed on our projet 660 so substantially more expensive materials. With the two successful kick starters that did fund and prices MUCH higher then these. I can tell you we lost close to 60% of the raised funds in expense to us. We expected to take a bit of a loss so this was not an issue for us in fulfillment. Luckily we have the cash flow from other businesses to absorb this and hopefully provided exceptional customer support to our backers! :) We are now exploring adding resin / plastic to our tool bag and started with pressure pots casting the resin, holy crap that will not scale for anything beyond some boutique offerings and have since invested in injection molding hardware and cad cam software. Even with having all hardware and software and labor in house if the tools / molds are not already developed with the deals he is trying to provide they will loose at a minimum 150% of the 25k they have raised to date, assuming the quality will be any higher then boutique hand cast pieces. He sounds incredibly sincere and I bet he will deliver to his backers from the little i can read into his posts, but i fear for what the impact on him personally might be making the fulfillment happen! I will throw in some support to him after posting this just because i know whats its like to be the little guy and trying to make something your passionate about :) My two cents! Kevin

Glad you like what we are putting together! We are very passionate about this, and know once people get our product into their hands they will realize this is not the 3D printing that most people are used to. I love all of the feedback and suggestions, we will be taking this feedback and using it in future offerings! We found that the small sized creatures from a production standpoint might not make as much sense versus what we would need to sell them for. The heroic size and collectible size they are perfect. We will be releasing all product in the near future in both smooth resin for painting and full color for straight to the game board scenarios. We have a production HD resin printer being installed in February and will be quickly working on that offering as well. All current sculpts in color can also be produced in this resin. We have a new line of accessories that could be very very interesting we have in the R&D lab right now that fit in the more functional space you are talking about. More to come on that soon :) As I said during our Foundations 1 Kickstarter we are going to be a very active member of the gaming community and you will be seeing what we hope is major interesting innovations merging 3D printing with gaming. I am personally funding this passion, and this gives us the ability to operate and create for the sake of truly making something unique and that I am passionate to share with others as opposed to making every decision based around dollars and cents. I feel in the end that is how something truly different and great will be developed. We are far far from being experts in any of this but I feel we are learning and making progress on a daily basis thanks to all of the wonderful feedback and support we are getting from our backers. Can't wait to share more with everyone in the new year! Have a safe and happy holiday. I don't know if anyone every says this so excuse me if it's cheesy :) but I want to give a huge thank you to reaper for running this forum and allowing creators to post their passion here. With out companies like Reaper a large amount of startup creators like us would never be able to have the chance to reach a larger scale audience and share their work. Kevin and the Forge Prints Team

Thanks for the reviews! Yes unfortunately David was one of the early shipments and got caught in our education around packaging! We have since totally revamped how we pack and ship the product. All backers who have broken product have either already received replacements or they are in que to get replacements within the next week or so. Sorry once again for the hassle! We are also trying out the increased dimensions on the tables and will hopefully get some feedback on those shortly as well! It's funny you are asking for the square bases. When we first started working on this a little over a year ago we had all square bases. We then revamped and went round :) in the near future we will add square designs back into the offering. Thanks again for the wonderful feedback and support! Kevin and the Forge Prints Team

Thanks for the great feedback dschumm! When our webstore goes live we have a forums setup and one section is for product suggestions so we will add all of yours and i can see us tackling these things :) As for the 75mm size that is simple for us to do, we have just limited it for now until we saw a demand. Our approach to bases is to created the color 3d inserts and setting them into standard plastic lipped bases. We can expand our plastic lipped bases to the 75mm size and then simply print to the new specifications with the existing 50mm designs. We will expand into this offering shortly, we just need to secure the plastic blanks so it may not make it into this kickstarter we only have a few days left on the clock. Thanks and hope to see you as a backer! Kevin and the Forge Prints Team

Here is a sneak peak at the mimic version of our treasure chest! I thought it was so cool I wanted to share the render :) I'll update with a printed photo shortly! Here is the 3d printed version of the mimic chest! We are using 25mm and 15mm for the standard sizes, whats your opinion on the two different sizes and which do you think is more appropriate? 2 new Dungeon Accessories in 1 day! Hope you like the Stone Book Case for your dungeons and adventures :) It fits perfectly in a 1inch tile floor square! Were down to just 9 days left! were sprinting to get as many cool new sculpts in before the buzzer as possible. introducing the new dwarven foothills range of bases and the stone altar. one of our backers pointed out that the bookshelf base would be a perfect altar :) If your on the fence about backing hopefully all the new sculpts will help you decide! Kevin and the Forge Prints Team For all of the fans of the lava bases out there here is an alternate design! Kevin and the Forge Prints Team! 4 days to go! We are going to try and sneak in at the buzzer one more base design (see render attached 3d printed version some time tomorrow!) and a mimic crate and a mimic barrel to go with our accessories! Kevin and the Forge Prints Team! Attached are a few pictures of our new mimic barrel and temple glyph base design. I hope you guys like it, a few days left to pledge! we need your support :) https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1613044699/foundations-2/posts/1432720 https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1613044699/foundations-2/posts/1432594 Kevin and the Forge Prints Team.

This will be going up on the Kickstarter shortly. Hopefully this will get a few more people off the fence and give us a shot :) Everyone who backs with at least a $20 pledge will get one of these stone portals for free! and it will be available to selection on the kickstarter for $8 if you want a matching pair to use as teleportation portals in your dungeon or adventure! I included one picture with my fingers to try and relay size a bit better. Let me know any feedback on this latest item and free giveaway concept! Thanks, Kevin and the Forge Prints Team. Attached is a photo of all of our base designs and a few extras with the new plastic insert approach. We believe this is a more polished looking product and will be rolling this out to the kickstarter and our webstore when it goes live. If you were an original backer and would like the old style to match your existing forge prints bases we can provide that as well. This will simply be the way we do bases going forward. Currently we have this in place for 30, 40, and 50mm we will be doing this for the 25mm designs shortly. We are waiting for our supply of 25mm plastic bases to arrive before we can print and photograph the new inserts. Let me know what you all think of this? We have a few weeks to go tell all your friends if you like what we are putting together! Thanks, Kevin and the Forge Prints Team. Updated kickstarter with information and new photography for our 3d printed + injection molded bases. Check them out! Kevin and the Forge Prints Team

Today we just unveiled a new sculpt of our Rock Worm poised to attack! its mouth is open wide and have a truly creepy vibe when holding it in your hands. Rock Worm Poised to Attack We also had a great news piece published by Tabletop Gaming News here! Attached are 2 photo's of our 50 mm arcane base in orange. This is the first test of one of our bases using the standard 50mm plastic base and setting the design as a 3dprinted insert. I think the end result is very nice, would love some feedback. By using the standard plastic injection molds in conjunction with the 3d printed insert we have managed to keep our cost almost identical. Zoomed Image1 Zoomed Image2 Normal Image3 Thanks! We have just updated the campaign to now offer many of the creatures in multiple sizes with reference pictures. We now offer not only the 75mm creature size but also a 50mm option. we have also included the new pricing for the 50mm option. Like everything else you can always choose flat white unpainted if you want to give it your own look and paint job!
  17. ForgePrints

    Foundations 2 by Forge Prints

That is correct you simply request unpainted if you would like flat white if you do not specify the color model will be assumed. Currently shipping it setup at 10 flat in US and 19 flat the rest of the world. I will check on Canada and let you know if that would be different. We are using usps for all shipments.

We made our goal in the first 2 hours of going live! Thank you all for the incredible support. We are going to attempt to add a few more very cool goodies in during the campaign in addition to the stretch goals so keep your eye out! I would love any suggestions for items / creatures/ or bases you would like to see and we will try and do some real time creation for this campaign as well. Thanks again, Kevin and the Forge Prints Team!

Thanks dsmiles! Yes anything we offer we can also produce in flat white simply request this in the pledge form provided at the end. We will updated the pricing menu to reflect the flat white choice in addition to the two different finishes. There is no change in cost for any of the finishes we are keeping it flat. We are also looking into pledge managers to hopefully make this a bit easier. I will update the pricing menu with 50MM prices for objective markers. I need a bit of time to have the material cost analyzed so we can provide the most competitive price possible for the step up in size. Expect to see that updated tomorrow. Hopefully its all been buttoned up properly but we pulled the trigger and foundations 2 is now live!! We have a few images we need to swap out but that will happen with constant updates during the duration of the kickstarter! We are looking for any and all feedback during the kickstarter and we will try to incorporate what we can! We are putting up 2 last models tomorrow along with the price menu. After that is complete we will submit to Kickstarter for approval. One of the models is the rock worm. Honestly I feel it may be our best and by far creepiest model yet! It will be in 40 millimeter objective marker size as well as a 5 inch tall heroic boss monster / collectible statue size! I can't wait for feedback on that one. We also are putting up a mimic version of the wizard table. When they are live I will update this thread! Thanks Kevin and the Forge Prints team! Attached is the Rock Worm link. This model is available as a small creature / objective marker with a 40MM base size or as a heroic boss / collectible standing 5 inches tall! I would love any feedback, we are finalizing up the last details today and will be live shortly! Thanks again for all of the feedback and review. Kevin and the Forge Prints Team

Price Menu will be uploaded shortly. We are tweaking and trying to get the prices as low as possible for this kickstarter so we can get as much exposure as we can! We can easily produce 120mm, do you want a single unpainted one? I don't think we will have time to make it a formal offering right now but can produce it as a one off for you :) JCG will be happy the Dwarven Keg has been added! Trying to get 2 more models up before friday as well, and a ton more in use photos! Thanks, Kevin and the Forge Prints Team.

We have been experimenting with all sorts of finishing techniques amuller33, but all good questions! When we first get the pieces off of the printer they are the most "fragile" the material that comes out is like a really strong colored chalk basically we do have to brush the pieces well to get rid of any loose powder, the worse job we do in cleaning the model the more "white" effect you get like you see in some of the pictures. you can sand the model at this point to smooth it out before you apply the finishing chemicals. after that point we can either then finish it with a matte finish as you have seen to date or we can do the "wet" finish that i recently started to show. After the model is left to sit for a bit it is literally a stone statue or base or marker. It has all the characteristics of stone and can be worked on much more aggressively. for the uncolored models like dsmiles has it would probably not be a big deal to sand them down since he is going to paint on it anyway. For the full color pieces the color is actually fused in the stone itself for about a millimeter or two thick shell into the stone. If you chisled the crone in half you would see the middle of the statue is pure white and the color is infused about a mm or two into the stone. The technology we use is not like the old 3d color printing that is simply inkjet ink laid down over the powder its actual color "binder" that is blended to make the colors this provides substantially better color in the end. So if you sanded a piece after it was finished there is a bit of "color" in the model and you probably would not sand deeper then the color shell but it may give it a scuffed look? We will continue to experiment with it and if you experiment with any of the product we sent you from the original foundations let us know your results. We also added a few updates to the preview kickstarter including a new giant collectible that will also be a creature model. They are WIP photo's and will be updated shortly. We had a sculpt issue we need to correct but its 95% Thanks! Kevin and the Forge Prints Team! Just updated some more content on the preview including some in use photo's to show relative scale size for some of the items. Will have the rest of the items, pricing, and stretch goals updated shortly so were good for friday. Thanks for all the great feedback so far! Kevin and the Forge Prints Team
