I think what we are going to do is simply allow the customer to choose either wet or matte finish per object. That is probably the best overall solution, we will update the preview kickstarter to reflect this! We are also going to experiment with ordering bulk black plastic bases with the slight bevel in the top (like privateer press bases) and print inserts that we will set into the bevel. The savings of only printing the inserts should hopefully make up for the cost of the plastic bases? This wont happen in time for this kickstarter but its something we will be introducing in the near future, and when our retail site finally goes live it will be there as well. Whats your thoughts on taking this approach? We also have some new sculpts going up this weekend and should have pricing and stretch goals updated shortly as well! were looking on track for a kickstarter launch at the end of next week!! Very exciting for us :) Once again thanks everyone for your incredibly helpful comments and criticisms Kevin and the Forge Prints team!

So last night we printed off a few more models and applied the "wet" finish to them. Attached is some pictures of the jungle base, rive base, green tentacales, and crone. The left side in each picture is the wet treatment and the right side is the matte finish. Let me know what you think! Image1 Image2 Image3 Image4 Image5 Image6 Image7 Image8 Image9 Image10 Image11

Heh I guess we didn't do as good a job on the partial eaten / rotted mushroom look! Yes was actually 3 bites out of the mushroom one substantial and 2 increasingly smaller ones!! I'm in the process of printing a few more items and going to apply the wet finish to them. I'll update this thread tomorrow. I also am putting together some photos of the models next to some lizard men army. Please be kind in regards to the minis poor paint jobs they were my first :) Kevin and the Forge Prints guys and gals!

Now to be specific, the wet look would be all over the object not just on the leaves etc. I will get some samples for feedback.

Those will make an apperance from the first one as well! Still trying to feverishly add the rest of the product to the new effort! We are also going to go with the al a cart pricing structure we did with foundations 1. We are going to keep it as aggressive as we can, our goal is to get awareness out there and the product into as many hands as possible for feedback and general awareness. We will wory about turning any profit later on at retail after we have the formula for the offering truly locked down :) Using Kickstarter as a way of vetting out the concept and raising general awareness is invaluable to us! Thanks again, Kevin and the Forge Prints Team

Hi JCG! <waves> The texture is definitly an aspect of the color 3d printing process. One interesting thing to note is we went for the matt finish that really does make the sandstone finish very apparent. We can also finish it in another finishing process that almost gives the piece a slightly wet look. It intensifies the colors a bit and makes the sandstone finish not as apparent, but We assumed that the matt look was more desirable for the community. It might be interesting to experiment with both and get some customer feedback? If you shoot me an email directly if your interested, I can send you a few pieces with this other treatment and I would love the feedback on it. As I said originally we are sitting on the bleeding edge of this technology and are looking to help bring it to the gaming community with real interaction and advice from the community. We are I feel in the unique position that we have invested heavily into something on the bleeding edge and can push those boundaries where others may not take the financial gamble we have. But we feel without risk we can't all create something new and innovative, and would simply follow what has already been done :) Thanks for the feedback! Kevin and the Forge Prints Team

Thanks for all the feedback so far and thanks David for posting this! We will absollutely add some pictures with some of our painted mini' s from say games workshop next to the stuff we are creating. We hope to have that up by tomorrow. The final product with the tech we have in house is a sandstone type material, we started with the printer technology from 2009 and we have since purchased that latest gen 2015 technology and have experimented with all types of products. The advantages is you can print in full color, our printing process does not need any supports like consumer printers so you can create designs that are simply not possible on consumer printers and we are trying to take advantage of that fact. The output material is a real natural for collectible statues so we have just started to experiment in that space, I know a few of us have looked over the years for cool fantasy collectibles for our homes and offices and have not found what we wanted so hopefully if there are similar people out there we can fill that need :) All of the objective markers seem to work really really well with the printer, we are sizing them all at 40mm but we can simply scale them to 50mm or 30mm its a simple adjustment for us. I feel that the bases are also a great output from the printer. Characters we have printed as small as 30mm but with the material there is a chance of breaking unless the sculpt is designed without a lot of small connection points i.e. wrists but they print very well at 50mm as the smallest and look incredible in my opinion around 100mm We are thinking that creatures would be appropriate at that scale and could be an intersting offering from us. Once we have a sculpt complete we can print at any scale size very quickly. Can I get any feedback on what the largest and smallest size would be in the communities opinion for a creature? You can use the ones on the kickstarter preview as a reference creature type. And as was commented on above anything we create that is supposed to be stone, IE pillars, cave type items, buildings is a pure win since its actually stone :) Like David said we hope to have this live by the end of next week with more content and the feedback from this thread as well included. Thanks! Kevin and the Forge Prints Team.

We just launched our second Kickstarter Foundations! https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1613044699/foundations We took the feedback and what we learned from our first kickstarter, and created this 3d printing project with a simple straightforward pledging system. We also are providing a flat white unpainted option for those who would like to paint their own bases. We would love community feedback and strive to constantly improve our offering. This is a very quick two week Kickstarter with low funding goals! Thanks, Kevin and the Forge Prints team.

Very cool concept I never thought of that! What scale size should these "spell effect icons" be? I think this is something we will explore and perhaps merge into our accessories offering :) Thanks for the concepts if you have any more that you think would be cool and unique feel free to share them and perhaps we can make them reality! Thanks for the support amuller33! I am intrigued by Spell Effects. Can you give me an example of what you mean? We have a ton of accessories we have been developing so after we fulfill this one and get some initial feedback we will bring this to kickstarter when we feel its ready and any needed adjustments are made. We will also have an ecommerce store up in the next month or two. Thanks again for the support, Kevin and the Forge Prints Team

Great feedback arbiter10! I believe we are discovering and adjusting our positioning as each day passes. For instance this campaign versus our first campaign has a few key differences. We are offering the full color bases for those who would like to base models with high quality bases that might otherwise have simply stuck with the plain black plastic bases. We also are offering all of these bases in a solid white unpainted option. A simple coat of primer and they take miniature paints well! The bases have a very heavy premium feel to them since they are not made of plastic. We also have a full line of accessories that we are developing, for the foundations kickstarter we decided to try and keep it focused on bases afraid that mixing the bases with accessories like we did last time caused the project to look unfocused. We have also changed our model to a pick only what you need model. Every base and accessory can be purchased separately, no reason to get forced into buying more of a product then you want. We also have some very nice looking dungeon tile systems in development that are almost ready as well as full creatures that we will also be introducing. We are going to stick with the full color versions as well as the flat white paint yourself options for everything we do. We are a bunch of guys and girls that love gaming in all forms and love technology, I personally have been painting a warhammer lizard man army and some war machine models recently and wanted to blend in latest generation 3d printing technology to make something incredibly cool and unique. we have been blessed with the means to invest a substantial amount of capital into our passion and want to bring something new and unique to what we love! We have invested over $200,000 so far, and we are just trying to get product into the hands of everyone so we can get exposure and more wonderful feedback! Our $1,000 funding goal is not whats important to us its getting this into the hands of people like you and the great feedback and exposure that comes with that! I plan on being an active part of the community, and hopefully as this small kickstarter demonstrates value and thrive on everyones feedback! We are looking to build an offering that fills true want and need of our customers in creative and unique ways that have yet to be discovered! Thank you for helping us bring this vision to life :) Kevin and the Forge Prints Team!

We have not, but that is great feedback. Changing from round to square or hex may require a bit more time then the duration left on this kickstarter. We will attempt to get at least one done before the kickstarter is over, but will make sure to include those in future offerings. Is there a particular base you would like to see in either square or hex? We love a challenge and will try and get one in before the clock runs out! Kevin and the Forge Prints team.

Thanks for the feedback, I will update the kickstarter so that it is more clear. One of the great things with this being 3d printing is I can produce the bases at any exact size that is requested. The intention of the pricing relates to the amount of build material it takes to produce the bases. I have them set for 25mm 30mm 40mm and 50mm but if some one wanted say 32mm they could be created. I am also looking for suggestions on bases people would like to see, and I would be happy to have them added to our content catalog! dsmiles when you say a lipped variety are you referring to more of the privateer press style? Thanks for the feedback! Kevin and the Forge Print team.

Forge Prints HD Dungeon Accessories and Bases Kit 1

Thanks for the feedback ced1106! We are looking to have a top notch large selection of products across many lines! We are also looking to have some serious community interaction so that we can bring to life accessories(both board gaming and scenery ), creatures, and bases that are just not available to the community. Two of the areas where we invest substantial money is the technology and the content creation. As I mentioned before, we commission multiple artists to produce all of our 3d content. The Arcane bases that we are promoting we had created based off of a verbal description on style. It appears that the artist we are working with on that project took to much direction from google searches and is something we are addressing. There is no value in spending the investment we are making in new content creation to simply imitate product that is available in the market! As for any comments on quality I assure you all feedback we have gotten from people seeing and touching the live product have been just the opposite. We need to invest more in photography to truly represent the live pieces it sounds :) I would offer anyone on this thread to send me their contact information at info@forgeprints.com by tomorrow 7/9/2015 and I will send them a free sample of our products. I am confident that the quality is there. Thanks for all the feedback so far both positive and negative, this helps us make any needed adjustments before going live and I am sure will improve our offering to the community! Kevin

Forge Prints HD Dungeon Accessories and Bases Kit 1

Just saw this post, I am one of the founders behind forgeprints. We have learned a ton in this process, as some have said its a new cutting edge technology and were paving the way as we go! We have been able to get the manufacturing cost down even further and will be updating our pricing on our soon to be launched ecommerce site, I would love some feedback on what is viewed as acceptable for pricing? As for blatantly ripping anyone off I can assure you that is not our intention! We commission 3d artists to produce all of our content, we are looking to create a constant stream of new content that is unique and interesting. We have done quite a bit of market research and believe that Jungle themed and Bones themed bases are a staple and highly requested, I believe ours are unique and interesting. The arcane bases from the above mentioned company are something I will look into having adjusted, the similarities cross theme boundries in my opinion and defeat the purpose of having all original 3d content created! We also are about to release some Lava and River based theme's as well as road and flagstone themes. I was hoping for more feedback through the kickstarter site, but did not receive any so hopefully I can get some solid feedback from this thread! I am also concious of the forum rules here and not trying to sell anything just hoping for some constructive feedback! Thanks, Kevin
