  1. Thank you I figured I'd do them all different colours because no doubt if I did them all the same I'd have to buy another set when I realised I wanted some in other colours too, haha. I knew I wanted a white wolf and a black wolf, but didn't want to have wonky numbers - so en masse variety ensued. This is the first time I've done cork rocks, so I'm glad you like them <3 Figured I'd use them to give a bit more context to the poses on these guys.
  2. I know I disappeared ages ago and all, but I'm kind of back =] I've still been painting, winter just got me into a bit of a funk about it (I don't have a proper setup, I paint on my couch, so sadly I can't set up a daylight lamp), but now that the days are lengthening again, I'm starting to get back into it. So I've ended up owning two lots of Fenrisian Wolves - the first pack, I started painting as elemental sparkle wolves, haha, but I've stalled a bit with them, so I grabbed a second pack and painted them up a bit more normally... So here they are. My apologies, my mini photography is a bit rusty now. A variety of Citadel paints and a couple of P3 paints, largely drybrushed on, all wolves primed black with Army Painter spray, and bases done with cork (rocks), and assorting Army Painter bits of foliage and stuff. Sand from the beach for dirt, etc =P
  3. Thanks =] I'll definitely keep at it - the differences between my first two dragons is huge evidence of practice makes perfect, haha, it's really quite alarming. Hopefully I make similar leaps with this, though somehow I'm dubious of that =P Thank you =]
  4. Such a beautiful piece :O I've been dallying over buying Narthrax, because I wasn't quite sure if I liked his head, and wasn't sure if I could successfully swap it out with another... Your paintjob makes me rather want him though =] tis gorgeous. The wings and reflected light are just.. Phwoar.
  5. I advise gentle brush strokes, minis respond better to that. Stabbing is for post-modern, deconstructuralist paintings Rofl xD A violent painter am I! @Edsterdoom Cheers =]
  6. NMM terrifies me, haha xD not even going there with that one, gonna stick to TMM and OSL for the time being of my 'try and learn to be better at' challenges. Perhaps I'll revisit him in a couple of days when I've got decent light and some hours to furrow my brow =] I'll try pushing his highlights a bit more, then leave him alone again for a bit. Thanks - icky blood is one of my favourite things to paint, haha. I'm sure this little guy would love to curse you, but he'd probably only manage your thumb or something. Rest of you would be fiiiiiine =]
  7. Haha, thank you =] I may go back and revisit the OSL on this guy when I'm in less of a painting funk tbf, but aye, I'm thinking more highlight, and then yet more highlight. In all forms of art, I'll be honest, I've always really struggled with tinting a light source very effectively, but erh. First attempts are first attempts for a reason =]
  8. I think it is a nice start. I can't handle OSL that well, tried it once. Good to see you are having fun with the minis from the box, I'm gonna take a couple more stabs at it on other minis methinks =]
  9. Thanks =] Now that the shiny newness of painting has worn off for me, I have been struggling a bit with just being... Into it. So figured trying something new might help me out a bit, give me back some enthusiasm. I've got a plethora of GW minis that I got in cheap job lots on eBay, so I think I'll try out new things on some of them, maybe try and improve my OSL a bit. Might defeat my apathy, haha.
  10. Thanks =] This is very true - I've got a half painted Nethyrmaul sitting in my bedroom at the moment, and while I wasn't planning on any OSL on him, I'm figuring he won't be a 'first' for anything other than putrid flesh, which is currently going quite well, haha. I've only been painting a few months, but it's terribly satisfying, getting to grips with new stuff ^^
  11. Thanks =] Fair enough, I was wary of going too heavy with it and just ending up with wierd blue slush all over his upper body, haha, so I was maybe a bit more hesitant than I should've been. Next time hopefully I'll be able to display a marked improvement =]
  12. Hey there *awkward wave* I finally got round to painting one of the minis that Drifter took out of the box on my behalf and I thought you guys might like to see him - http://forum.reapermini.com/index.php?/topic/65456-unknown-necromancer-first-attempt-at-osl/ *hides back in lurk mode*
  13. So I don't know who made this guy or anything I now know this guy is a cultist from the Cthulu Wars boxset - he's made of a yellow plastic of some variety which took primer just fine, but on the bits I'd missed with primer, hated my paints with a vengeance. As such, he was a bit odd to paint. He came out of the UK/EU Box of Goodwill =] So um, hope you like him, despite his quirks and extremely dodgy OSL. I've never tried it before and I found I'm super terrible at it, haha. As soon as I have an ID for this guy, I'll edit my topic a tad =] Paints are GW Citadel... -Abaddon Black -Dawnstone -Khorne Red -Standard Mechanicus Grey -Ushabti Bone -Blood for the Blood God -Temple Guard Blue -White Scar -Fenrisian Grey -Seraphim Sepia -Agrax Earthshade -Steel Legion Drab aaaand a lone P3 got in there, in the form of Cold Steel.
  14. H'okay, update time =D I'm back from Comic Con and stuff, and I've finally picked up my paintbrushes again for minis, as opposed to for bits of costuming. Finally started painting my Mechanicus, and she is fiddly as all hell. In hindsight, I shouldn't have fully assembled her, but nevermind. Link coz bewbage https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/12072634_10153410017828451_5969724290300893071_n.jpg?oh=916106d7b4ef88c73c316bcab546be77&oe=56CF0765 To start with, silvers going on her metals in general, and some nice pasty flesh. Link coz chesticles: https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-9/12065532_10153410017773451_2898657061195869455_n.jpg?oh=2db17533bd26f358517b6d4ef07d97f9&oe=56BDCCA1 And of course, a nice red hood. She's oddly stressful to paint because she's just so stupidly fiddly and I'm rather worried about breaking her. Erk.
  15. Thank you Thanks <3 That is a nice mini - I might pick her up at some point, though I'll likely use her for a different character (ie, more reminiscent of Warcraft's Worgen, etc), rather than for Caelan's lycanthrophic form. With my weres, my preference is hugely inclined to the "almost just a wolf" line of design, far more suited to running on all fours, etc, than anything else. I like more humanoid wolves, ie anthros, from a design perspective, provided they're not too chunky and stuff, but just not for my werewolves. Thanks for the find though <3
  16. Thank you Cheers <3 =] Thanks Caelan actually started out a lot paler, but I ran into issues with the white to pale blue shifts and her shadows, which just... Got weird, for some reason. I ended up just painting her over a lot and ended up with a lot more blue coverage, but then she was uber pastel *facepalm* And then she met my blue glaze, haha. She ended up in quite a different place compared to where I envisioned when I started her. =]
  17. Thanks I was kinda daunted by basing to begin with, but it was infinitely less painful than I thought it would be, haha. Thanks Thank you =] Actually quite enjoyed basing, once I got to the grass tufts and all =] just waiting for the ink on the sand and stuff to dry that was on the tedious side. Haha, thank you <3
  18. Thanks The warg remains one of my favourite minis, haha, it's a rather lovely thing =] Thank you =]
  19. So I painted up this little lady a month or two ago now, and I've had some fights with her... But now she's based and I've decided what the hell, I'm done with her. Now this is my paladin from my pathfinder group =] she's a half-drow pally with a serious justice thing going on, and also, she's a werewolf, because why not =] Now, she's got an overly huge halberd on her, because my conversions were a bit dodgier in the beginning with regards to scale. I'll probably replace her at some point, because I'm not 100% on her for my character in truth, but what do. For the time being, she's fun enough =] As a werewolf though, I of course needed to get her a werewolf mini! I'm not really into the more humanoid wolf/man type werewolves though, as I tend to find them too muscly and stuff... So I grabbed a Bones Warg instead for her. This was in the fact the very first mini I ever painted, under Drifter's guidance and she's only just gotten based, hence she's not shown up before. So there's Caelan the Pally, in both her lovely forms Now... Paints. Arghh, it's been a while, and right now I'm at Drifter's, so I can't actually access my stack of paints to double check them, so here goes... Kristianna is painted with... GW: Nuln Oil Seraphim Sepia Khorne Red The Blue Glaze that I can't remember the name of right now Fenrisian Grey Auric Armour Leadbelcher White Scar Pallid Wych Flesh or Flayed One Flesh, I honestly can't remember Drakenhof Nightshade And she's got some P3 too: Cold Steel Bloodtracker Brown Umbral Umber The Warg, on the other hand, is painted with... GW: Standard Mechanicus Grey Khorne Red Abaddon Black Nuln Oil White Scar ... I think. I dunno, I'll be honest, it was months ago and it was Drifter's paints ^^; But yush, there we go. A post from me, while I'm away xD but yay, I've learned to base things a bit now, so hopefully everything in future will be more nicely finished These two have Army Painter tufts and turf on them, and sand taken from the beach at Drifter's (because the sand on my beach is kinda icky). Also, bonus fun fact: We found the Raging Heroes Kickstarter for TGG2 today. I just blew £93 on it *facepalm* Ahhh well... What do, eh?
  20. Thanks <3 Ebonwrath's a lovely dragon, I've actually got him sitting a couple of feet to my left, though he's not quite finished. He was the first dragon I decided to try and paint. I'm sure you'll do a great job when you get round to him though I'll go back to mine one day and finish him off, haha.
  21. I'm making mighty slow progress on Nethyrmaul's wings, so to break up the tedium of painting the 'fingers', I've started on Ingrid and my Minotaur =] The wings are definitely getting there, it's just not terribly exciting. However, once the 'fingers' are done, and i've got a bit more nuln on the membranes to darken them a bit further, I should be able to glue them in place The talons I'll paint once they're on, coz they're a bit awkward at the moment. Otherwise, the only thing preventing me from finishing up my assembly, is the bits of tail I haven't quite finished up yet. Anyway, minotaur! Decided to paint this chappy up as an albino, or at least that was the plan. Not really sure how well it's going right now, I think I need to dim his skin right back down, coz it's way too tan right now. Ingrid I am much happier with =] After much aggro, I managed to get her arm off too, because she was just far too awkward to paint with it glued on. That'll get stuck back on relatively soon too ^^ So yup, slowly making progress through the hoard... Slowly. Currently drying out used teabags too, for basing purposes =]
  22. This warg is one of my favourite minis, possibly because it was the first I ever painted, haha =] He's lovely - great job =]
