  1. Clippers are... Very erh to me in general, in truth, I'd only use them for taking off big lumps like casting tabs, and even then, only on metals, coz they strike me as very harsh. That said, I have dodgy clippers, haha. I do have a couple of files that I trust myself with to a decent degree - mostly though, this mini's pretty clean. She's just got some odd bits on her which are I think a combination of casting tabs and possibly injection points or something. No jeweler's saw here though - I can't justify the price for how much I'd use it, as I lean strongly towards Bones, which I can chop about with pretty much anything, haha. I'll figure this one out somehow, hopefully ^^; Depending on what kind of hobby knife you have, you may be able to get saw blades to fit. X Acto Blade #15 should fit into the standard small handle... 8) George I've got a couple of regular stanleys that I rarely touch, and two snaps that I get on fairly well with. I suspect it's a no-go for me, but I'll figure something out =]

  3. My fresh blades are decent, tbf. But erh, just not a huge fan of heavy-duty knives =P Yush
  4. Soon! ^^ Your knife can go away. I dislike your knife. It's too heavy. I like my terrible knives better.
  5. Later =P when I'll also order one or two more. Cheers ^^; I've cleaned some Bones in the meantime, so I'm getting there... But erk xD cleaning dimly scares me. I still need to assemble and spray the Nightingale too.
  6. My thoughts exactly! I might try and tidy her up and stick bits of her together after work tomorrow evening, I'm not sure yet. I'm not hugely experienced (ie, not even remotely) with cleaning up and dealing with resin, so I'm rather wary of pushing forward too quickly with her. If not though, Drifter gets here on Tuesday, so an update then at the latest, I thinkest =P
  7. Aye, that's where I tracked her back to in the end. They have a rather lovely range, if a bit on the overly boob-y side sometimes, haha. I don't play Warhammer tabletop at all, I just thoroughly enjoy Dawn of War on my laptop, and I enjoy the style... So slowly, I'm trying to get together the handful of 40k minis that I love most =] This one might not be an official one, as it were, but it made me smile and I thought she'd be a worthy start to that collection.
  8. That's exactly what I was thinking. I've noticed some folks try to skirt the issue by saying the model is XXmm to the eyes, which isn't really helpful. Indeedee... It's odd, because the rest of that eBay seller was consistent, and ditto to the site I tracked her back to. Just a weird anomaly on this particular mini, it would seem. Thanks =] It's quite possible - I'll measure her when I've got her fully assembled. The site I managed to trace her and her ilk back to, however, does say 48mm scale. She came in from Ukraine, so I wonder if it's possibly something that's gotten last in translation (though the rest of the site is 28s, and they are listed as such... Erh, most mysterious). Makes her, for me, quite an expensive 28mm, but she would've been a very cheap 48mm, haha. IIRC, she's a Forgeworld model, therefore an expensive 28 mm model. :) I'm digging through Forgeworld now, just to double check her, and I can't actually locate her on their site, unless she's out of print. She seems a bit of an odd one. WarGameExclusive carry her (which I located when I noticed the name on the paypal transaction on eBay), and she seems to be theirs, at least at the moment. Erk, I'm terrible at this, haha. Ok, did you buy this from the Cadwallon site? Since you mention Ukraine? I have bought some great busts there from legendarion. They have original sculpts. BUT they also sell sculpts based on GW /Forgeworld and Confrontation miniatures./ artwork or "inspired" by those. My guess is, this is a Forgeworld style mini, but sculpted by the Cadwallon folks themselves. Also I spotted OOP Confrontation minis there, that can be bought of the shelve, som mabybe these are resculpted there. I have no idea if they own rights or anything. And yes they do have some awesome minis. I picked her up I think from an eBay outlet, perhaps. I've pulled up Cadwallon, but again, can't see her. Oddly, the seller was listed as being in Costa Rica, but she shipped in from Ukraine *shrug* I do not even know. I've just checked the site I tracked her back to, and all it says on the matter is; "All miniatures are legally casted with agreement of their sculptors. Among them were sculpted exclusive for us." Phrasing is a little odd, but again, could be put down to translation issues. I think she is possibly unique to the site/company I tracked her to, and she is one of their originals. They have an extremely interesting collection of female minis, all in GW style.

  11. So via the medium of eBay, Drifter and I found an interesting bundle of 40k minis. One of those, I caved and bought, because I thought she was really interesting. Image - http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/ODAwWDgwMA==/z/t9YAAOSwPcVVrff2/$_57.JPG (Linked for bewbage) I picked up the Mechanic Female Adept Tech Priest (With Axe), because... What the hey. She was listed as 48mm, but I don't think that's quite right, though it's possible she's been measured differently. I dunno. She's certainly a little on the large side (and due to her sculpt, she is very tall), but I could probably give her axe to Sir Forescale and it wouldn't look out of place, so I'm inclined to say she's a large 28mm, with typos. However, she's beautifully detailed, if made of quite a number of parts and a bit confusing at first glance. Mine also has, I think, some fairly major casting tabs or something, which is confusing life considerably, as I'm not only terrible at assembly, I'm also a huge wuss. This is how she arrived: Another link =P Cautiously dryfitting her, and there's dearest Sir Forscale =] https://scontent-lhr3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xap1/v/t1.0-9/12108143_10153375597403451_8907435325946399657_n.jpg?oh=fe722099396f158f26cc26c01833a1f2&oe=568DA310 But erhh... She scares me, haha. I may end up waiting for Drifter to get here (as he's coming to stay next week), and then have help with getting her cleaned and put together properly.
  12. I've, over the last couple of months, built up a collection of Citadel paints, and I've done it in £20 increments, grabbing more paints as I need them. It's not been the cheapest way of doing it, perhaps, but I've found I've ended up with a nice little bundle which suit most of my needs at the moment. All my stuff is painted with the intention of using it at some point in tabletop, so I don't mix my own colours if I can help it, I just layer them on the mini. So far, it's worked pretty well for me. I planned my paints, initially, on paintjobs I knew I had upcoming - but one of the first things I wanted to get when I started building my set was Nuln Oil and Seraphim Sepia, as I'd done a little painting using Drifter's paints, and I'd found both of those extremely useful and versatile. Beyond those two? I dunno what my essentials are, really, other than perhaps my fleshtones (I have Kislev and Flayed One, though the former mixed with a Bone colour is also good), my Bone (I have two, started out with Menoth White Highlight, which is a P3 paint. I find Ubshati Bone is a bit too dark for off-white stuff, but Menoth washed in Sepia achieves a very similar colour for more brownish bone tones), and then Khorne Red, a nice mid-silver (Ironbreaker I think is Citadel's... Out of stock when I bought mine, so I picked up Cold Steel, which is by P3), a mid brown (Steel Legion Drab would be fine for this, I think), and then blue (ie, Caledor Sky). It all depends what you have lined up to paint though. I'm not familiar enough with Reaper's sets to advise on them directly.
  13. I'll be going as Vicar Amelia, from Bloodborne, haha xD just got so much to do that it's kind of... Oh lawd, it's just rather overwhelming at the moment. I've never built anything like her before and just... Oh good lawd xD My dragon familiar is a much more slow-burn project, to be done for next year at some point, so I can get him to as good a standard as I can. Best of luck with your Boba Fett helmet, and indeed the rest of your kit - I'm sure it'll look epic when you get round to it =]
  14. Awesome =] got any pictures of him? But aye, all of the unicorn minis to be honest... They're gorgeous. Just something more striking about them than the regular horses =] I'm actually really tempted to order the foals and maybe the alicorn when I next do an order.
  15. Thanks ^^ Heh, the other projects... I have London Comic Con at the end of the month and I've got some serious costuming to finish in, essentially, the next week. I'm really not sure how that's gonna go, but what do xD I'm painting glass eyes at the moment too, for a full size dragon familiar puppet >.< Quite why I start these things, I have no idea, they become so terribly daunting. Hopefully, I'll have Nethyrmaul finished in the next week or so though ^^ hoping to finish him off with basing when Drifter visits.
  16. So I've been trying to catch up on his wings a bit today, because the non-miniature projects I'm supposed to be working on are currently frightening me, so I'm burying my head in the sand and ignoring them for a bit. There's still a couple of bits of the wings that still need purpling, and then they'll get nuln'd =] The membranes are all in leadbelcher at the moment, and are being nuln'd to darken them right down, and I've now painted the majority of his protruding bones. He's definitely approaching completion though ^^
  17. Thanks Righto, h'okay... So work happened, and I was tired, so I haven't done any painting for a few days. However, tonight I resumed painting Nethyrmaul! And I finally got his head glued on, yaaay He's got lots of goo going on, and his chest is now a nicely leadbelcher'd up, and I've started adding in his purple bases for all the goop that needs to go there. I've also started making his general scales a little more fun. As I'm taking photos in terrible energy-saving bulb light, it's rather hard to see, but I'm oxidising his silvers I figured as he's all rotten, why not have his metals in similar states of wear? Photo with flash! Haha, my workstation is best. Dinner tray on the couch. And a teatowel. The rot on his neck needs gooping up some more, but I'm getting there with him though I really do need to carry on with his wings, erk.
  18. I just downright applaud you for this one, good sir. This mini is GROSSLY INCANDESCENT! You've made me want to paint up more Souls-esque minis now, haha. \o/ =D *throws sunlight medals*
  19. Thanks Thank you <3 I took a bit of a break from him today, but tomorrow I'll try and get back on with him. The wings are currently lagging behind in progress a bit, so I may get stuck into them a bit more, bring them more up inline with the rest of his torso. Once I finally figure out what to do with his chestplates too, I can finally stick his head on properly
  20. I'm painting Nethyrmaul at the moment, and I had a thought... Nethyrmaul the Living! He's a really cool shape, and it'd be neat to have a version of him that doesn't have big gaping holes in him, etc.
  21. Cheers Had a bit of a confidence wobble with this guy, but managed to get some more paint on him today, though I started late, so I quickly lost the light. However, I did manage to get most of his visible bones painted, and I started making his gooey bits look gooey =D So this is where he's at now, though his head isn't actually glued together - just assembled quickly for photos. I put Nuln Oil over my Xereus Purple, to pick out shadows and stuff again, and then I went to town with my Blood for the Blood God his spines, however, are painted in Naggaroth Night instead, to give a bit more variety to his gooeyness. His bones/face spikes are all painted in Ushabti Bone, the washed in Drakenhof Nightshade to cool them down a bit and bring them back inline with the silvers. Still not 100% on what I'm doing with his chest though... Perhaps a blueish grey with a little bit of dark silver on it?
  22. Thank you No photos today, been adding another coat to his putrid flesh and stuff, so nothing too exciting. Hopefully I'll have his head near enough done and therefore ready to glue together and perhaps even on tomorrow though =]
  23. I've started another skeleton, but that's not got much interesting progress on it yet, so no point sharing. But Nethyrmaul's got his proper colours starting now! My Nethyrmaul's gonna be silver =] and his rotten flesh is currently getting painted nice and purple. His head isn't stuck on (only his tongue is stuck into his bottom jaw) because I want to keep him as easy to paint as possible, so I just popped him together briefly for the sake of a couple of photos. His tail is stuck on too though, mind. His wings, not pictured here, are also getting their first tastes of purple for his rotten flesh, and the membranes are getting painted in GW Leadbelcher, though they'll be darkened down substantially. His neck/chest plates I'm not 100% on yet, I'm still trying to work out what to do with them. Same with his spines/spikes/horns and, to a lesser extent, his claws. So far, he's been quite fun to paint.
  24. This, hugely =] I periodically get into a bit of a funk with my minis, but then I realise I'm sat there comparing my like... 12th mini to a huge competition winner that took like 200 hours to paint or something crazy. I'm painting my 17/18th mini at the moment, bearing in mind that not everything that's come before this one is finished ;D, and I'm painting Nethyrmaul. I got really excited when I finally got my hands on him, but then had a huge faltering of confidence, worrying that I couldn't give him the paintjob he deserved - but now that I've just launched into painting him, I'm quite enjoying working on him, even though it's early days yet =] Just have fun with painting and don't worry too much about how they turn out, it's all part of the process
  25. It has literally just ticked over into the 28th... And Nethyrmaul's paint has begun! I've touched in the few small bits that apparently just intended to resist my spray priming for eternity by hand, and I've started lobbing base colours onto him. For me, this means a nice purple base on the inside of his mouth and on his tongue, and some grey drybrushing all over his scales with a nice big fat brush. Awkwardly enough, I actually forgot to glue his hindleg into his torso, so that's just sitting there atm, held entirely by the glue holding it into the rock, haha. Lotsa GW Mechanicus Standard Grey there. Gonna be rubbing some Dawnstone and stuff on his terrain, and then once that's basically done, I'll pop his tail in. Didn't want to put his tail on super early, as I figured painting the terrain under it would be aggro. Purple is GW Naggaroth Night =] His fitting issues I have mostly solved by aggressively shearing off parts of his pegs, coz I do think some were perhaps on the long side. S'all good now ^^
