  1. YES!!! That is perfect and exactly what I would need! Thank You.
  2. Warmachine. Protectorate of Menoth. Because I get excited about the idea of engulfing my enemies in the flames of self-righteous fury!!!
  3. I got this one recently, I cannot wait to get to it. Your work is really nice,, very well done!
  4. I love the shadowing you have done! Is that NMM or TMM? I literally cannot tell 100%
  5. I know I am going to my FLGS (which in my new town is just amazing! Nicest, friendliest, most welcoming game store I have ever been to) and am excited to see whats being offered.
  6. Wow that was a lot of feedback very quickly. I am glad to hear that so many of you just kinda wing it and use what is handy. I have this terrible habit of trying to have "the best" or "the perfect" of something when I start a new venture. To that end I often spend way more money than I should on things that probably won't be used for a while. Ideally I think I will be utilizing a mixture of minis, tokens and other proxies while I start this new campaign. I was checking out the cardboard pop outs that are available from Paizo and might invest in a set of those for a bit. I would ideally like to have minis for everything but I paint at a glacially slow pace and frankly I am too neurotic to do quick paint jobs on anything except maybe skeletons or other one tone minis. I definitely like the white board idea and the glass bead idea as well. This is some good info!
  7. As I have been painting mins, I have been more and more drawn to the idea of playing tabletop games with them. I have never actually played a D&D or Pathfinder Campaign with minis and I was just wondering if anyone around here can give me some advice on how to do this. Believe it or not, there are not many YouTube vids on the topic that are useful. The thing I am having the most issue with is the idea of using minis for every single encounter. Most of the games I have played and the few I have DM'd have been action oriented and I can't imagine having a mini for EVERY SINGLE encounter. Especially if there are multiple monsters. So as I develop a new campaign I am thinking that I might have minis for some of the more challenging encounters and kind just leave the lesser ones to the players imagination. I would still probably want to do as many as I could though but is seems somewhat silly to have to worry about setting up for a couple of level one skeletons. So what's your take? Do you find it better to use minis when gaming? If so, do you use them for every encounter? On a side note can anyone direct me to a good set of minis to represent human thugs/ruffians/brigands
  8. I don't think I have ever had any opinion about something changed by being persuaded. I am always willing to listen to someone and if they present a cogent, rational and intelligent counter-point to my beliefs/opinions I am willing to consider it but I base my opinions on my own experiences and (truly I don't mean to sound pompous when I say this) I am the smartest person I know so it's hard to be persuaded when I generally know more than the person arguing me. I am an Historian after all and we basically need to know everything I read some other responses to this question and will add the addendum that I generally avoid debating people about anything. In my experiences (and given my particular weltanschauung) I find that those who "debate" me aren't so much trying to change my opinion as they are lambasting me for having an opposing one. I am also a firm believer that, as someone else stated, I basically do not care what others think or do so long as it does not physically hurt people or infringe upon the rights of others to exist as they see fit. Basically, I won't tell you what to do or think and you don't tell me what to do or think...unless I wind up as the supreme ruler of the planet...then its Obey time all around.
  9. I don't have the mouslings but I think they would probably make the best contest. Simply because I think they'd be a really unique challenge for many painters.
  10. I just started mine a few days ago and have some base coating done. I would have done more but I was exhausted from the mini I painted just before as it was a trial and error experience that left me spent emotionally and artistically. Shameful anecdote, I picked out a mini to do for my recipient in keeping with their desires and then fell in love with it and couldn't come to terms with the thought of sending it off. It was just too awesome! I got another one for my recipient that is very nice that I think (hope) they will like but I suppose I should make a small general apology as my exchange partner kinda got screwed out of a really amazing mini! I promise the new one is really nice too and I will paint it to my best abilities but sorry...that first one is just...wow...I am so ashamed....
  11. I jumped into the hobby pretty hardcore and splurged on paints and I quickly made a wet pallet (because everyone here on the forums kept ranting about how it changed their lives) so I don't think my wet pallet "epiphany" was as revelatory as some others but I can attest that I only recently purchased a Kolinsky Sable brush and that changed my painting life forever. I have so many brushes I will never use again except for slopping on base coats and washes now because I can't even conceive of using anything but my KS brush ever again. I am ordering 2-3 more as a birthday gift to myself. That was a joyful moment probably on par with the wet pallet "experience" that I can honestly say is thanks to the forumites here that always deliver amazing advice!
  12. Thank you. It was a struggle to find the right levels of color that I was looking for. I mean A REAL struggle...this mini probably has an extra 4 layers of paint than it needs around the reds.
  13. I love the conversion...what sort of dwarf doesn't wield an axe?
  14. I really like the zebra pattern on the bow! Really nice work!
  15. Thank you, I was really careful to make sure the white worked as best as I could. I used Creamy Ivory as a base and then worked up from there with various shades of white to create better color depth. That scar was....un-fun.
  16. I did this as a "Test" in colors reminiscent of the Protectorate of Menoth from the game Warmachine. I am generally pleased with the outcome. It took WAY longer than I had anticipated but mostly because I was trying some new techniques and had several missteps. I tried lining for the first time and while you may not see it as much as I had hoped, there was a drastic change from the pre-lined result which I think really was helpful. I did something different with the base for the first time as well as I thought it was about time that I started making more effort to create a "complete package". This was a simple terrain dust but it was my first experiment and I am pleased with that as well. This was also not the best sculpt. Of all the Bones mini's I have purchased, this one had probably the most defects. Coupled with my ineptitude, the right side of his face became utterly destroyed in my attempts to clean and reshape. As a result, I decided to embrace this and gave him a serious facial scar which in my mind was inflicted upon him by a demoness wielding a fiery dagger after she attempted to seduce him into giving up his immortal soul and failing as his faith in the light is unshakable. Comments and critiques are very welcome.
  17. Love the heart tattoo. Makes me think she probably has some daddy issues...
  18. After consideration I feel somewhat dissatisfied with the results I was given. Is it REALLY that evil to desire to rule the world with and iron fist and bring about an unprecedented era of peace and prosperity through the application of extreme force and totalitarian ideology? Whats a couple-dozen public executions a day compared to a safe society? Is it really that bad that I am trying to unite the world under a hegemonic doctrine of ruthlessness and discipline in which my exceedingly superior self is the apex of perfection that every subjugated peasant would aspire to be like, yet never obtain? What''s so evil about crushing your enemies, seeing them driven before you and hearing the lamentation of their women?
  19. I don't know how I have never seen this thread before but it feels auspicious that I saw it today as my wife and I have determined that we are getting healthy now that we have finished the most of our move. I will post some stats when I start officially. I feel confident that everyone here will be helpful and nonjudgmental.
  20. That is some amazing work. Definitely not a monk though...unless he belongs to some sect that worships the gods of anger and rage. His inner enlightenment probably comes from embedding that axe in someones face.
  21. Decidedly Dastardly. Mostly Machiavellian with very healthy dose of narcissism and an above average level of psychopathy. I concur and approve!
