Wow!  That's looking lovely so far!  The whites are great.  Is the visor supposed to represent a tinted effect on the visor, or a reflection of the surroundings?  From this shot I'm going with colored/tinted visor...

Thanks!  Im wanting it to look like polarized black visor with a strong reflection. I think i need to build up and smooth out the transitions a bit.

  2. Hello Reaper friends!

I was wondering if any of you could help me find any Conquistador models Reaper may have?  Or anything that will pass for or is somewhat similar to Conquistadors?

They will be part of a diorama and will mostly be converted into casualties so they don't need to be perfect.  Metal or Bones doesn't matter.

I really like the painted runes on his shield. Yes. It's a painted mini, but the runes are faded, and look like he, or some clan shaman, painted them on for protection, or success in battle, or bravado idk I don't read runes. It's a lovely touch that helps tell this guy's story. Beautiful piece.

Yeah thats exactly what I was going for!

Starting from the top clockwise they mean: energy, protection, health, and courage.

Disclaimer: I got the runes translations from a poster being sold on Etsy so.... who knows

    • My Herena is cast in two different colors of resin, one white and one off-white. It kind of looks like GK resin, but doesn't smell like it. While all of the details appear to have cast just fine, the connections are all sorts of bad.  I'll shoot them a PM, but once she's trimmed and pinned it looks like the parts will go together just fine.  It's more that I shouldn't have to be doing said prep work in the first place.

This is what happened to me with both Herena and Ylva.  I sent them an email as well but I got the feeling they are going to do nothing about it.  Honestly, I probably won't ever deal with putting them together because some pieces are so bad.  They still haven't got me all my stuff from Eternal War so I expect nothing to happen

For what it's worth I did like the wet palette

  5. Mine arrived.  A couple of the models came in grey resin and they are awesome.

However Herena and Ylva both came in a cream/white resin and have ZERO keys or key holes.  There are places with huge gaps.  I emailed them and they responded with:

" I asked about this particular issue with the models in general. The casting company stated that they removed connectors from the models due to them causing connection issues through warping."

I wasn't sure what that meant so I asked if they would be replaced or not and I reminded them I am still waiting on stuff from their Eternal War campaign and they responded with:

"I will put you down on the list and let you know."

So I still don't know if they will replace anything.

Couple examples of what I received.

  6. So here is the final paint setup (the paints in the clear were there before this is just a picture of the whole setup)

    Here's the drawer finished

And with some of the foam board I had left I made a small shelf for my airbrush bottles to sit on my painting booth

  7. Rack has been installed and there is oh so much room to grow.  Although I do have about 35 paints coming in

And my brain won't let me get back to painting till I'm done with this small paint desk upgrade so I'm working on the drawer real quick.

Started by cutting a piece of foam board to fit the bottom of the drawer and then cut the side pieces and glued it all together

Now just need to figure out the layout I want and will cut and glue foam board as needed.  I may need to find some other tools to go in here.  It's crazy that when you organize stuff you have so much more room.  Or maybe I'll just get these tools a home and then leave the rest blank so I have space for new tools.

(Foam dividers are just laid in place while I figure out the layout)

  8. Old rack and new rack painted and drying

It's pretty breezy out so I'm hoping they dry and not stinky by the time I'm off work so that I can get them put up and get to painting.

The tool drawer might have to wait a couple days as I need to get to work on the Archvillian piece I want to get done for their competition

  9. All the tube have been glued into place.  I had originally thought I would be adding about 100 slots but like I said I didn't do much calculating and 100 slots is just how I decided it would work out.  I ended up with 162 ::D:

Will probably wait for the weather to dry out a bit here and then spray paint it black.  I'll also probably repaint my old one as the only spray paint I had when I built it was some textured patio furniture spray paint.

  10. Well that took a long time!  The chop saw i had last time was a lot faster than by hand but it wasn't that bad doing it by hand.  Now just have to find something to watch on Netflix and start hot gluing the tubes on.

Guess I'm not getting any painting done tonight.

  11. Cut the foam board down to 4 pieces to the size I need but since the foam board was a little thin I glued two pieces back to back and made two sets of those.

Then I started cutting the pvc pipe.  I started with one 10' pipe and three 2' pipes.

After cutting the 10' I did a test to see how many more tubes I needed to cut.  At this point I realized I either calculated wrong or I never actually calculated how many tubes I would get out of one pipe

.  Either way I was going to be way short on tube and seeing as how I want to be able to not just have room for the paints I ordered but also have room beyond that I decided to go get more pvc and not just cut down the foam

So on my way to the depot of home supplies I glued the two sets of foam together.  So now it is about an inch thick.  Glued with Titebond so it should hold.

  12. I bought some more paint the other day and after doing so I realized my paint rack is full and I know whatever paint I put in a drawer goes there to die and never be used again.

So time to expand my storage.

Sculpting and cutting tools drawer is getting an upgrade as well.

Should be a fairly quick project.  I know this isn't a painting WIP but paint related and will maybe give others some ideas.

  13. So the Rob Dean box has arrived at it's new home.

I made my picks but I will have to figure what to pack up later.

First i chose the SUPER spooky chibis

Then these two guys with swords and knives.  I'm not sure where they are from

Then I grabbed a sprue with a couple weapons and shields and some bases.  I also got a Dark Sword fallen angel.  I'm not the biggest fan of metal but have always wanted to try a Dark Sword model and I love the subject matter.

Oh and I also took a small handful of paint mixers.

Final form of Printed Obession Puppet Master

I really like the Baron Samedi looking puppet master and voodoo priestess!

I think the bust is cool but I think would be LOT better if it had the voodoo doll puppets.  Looks a bit odd without them
