  1. I always forget to answer in this thread, I'm sorry. Firstly, thank all of you for your suggestions. The Wargames Atlantic Aztecs (and Conquistadors) are tooled and are looking good, but are also quite heavily animal-themed (which comes with the territory I guess). Those Lucid Eye Publications Maxzans are really good looking, but sadly metal (which I don't want for this project because of price and the added difficulty with chopping them apart). Got that newsletter, they are really cool. I mostly want to do the conversion bc I already own the Bones snakes and want to get some of my grey plastic into useful plastic ^^ Sadly, no resin printer in our immediate future. And the plastic prints are just not detailed enough to hold their own vs my other miniatures/the second halves of their conversion. But yes, there is a lot of great files out there for this theme! I got a bit sidetracked due to Christmas and Advent Calendar stress and will hopefully be able to do some tests in my winter holidays. Some lightly-clothed barbarians from Bones Coresets that had no chance to ever make it onto the table on their own will probably be chopped, maybe the snake half is enough to carry the aesthetic.
  2. Yes, almost exclusively. I did so when I still went to middle/highschool, then later when I went to college (it was great, in our last flat the tram station was literally right in front of the door) and now in our new home as well. We moved to the outskirts of a different city, but we still get to the railway in under 10 minutes and from there it is 20 minutes into the city center and pretty much everywhere we'd want to go. Honestly, I wouldn't want to deal with driving into either this city or the last one we lived, bc of traffic and parking. Grocery shopping we've almost always done on foot. The only times we'd need a car is to take the cats to the vet. I tried taking one of them once and it wasn't a pleasant experience for either of us.
  3. I got a 2nd Rocky. A friend is gonna get the first one when she goes in for surgery, since she loves to knit/plans to do that during recovery and he should look really cute throwing needles. Should at least keep unfriendly room mates in check.
  4. Nope, more flat, like a few coins stacked on each other. But yeah, I figured it might not be super common.
  5. Those seem lovely, but they are metal, right? Apparently Wargames Atlantic has some plastic Conquistadores and Aztecs in the pipeline, but no idea about their quality or release schedule.
  6. So, back in the good old Bones IV days I backed for two packs of Nagendra. For anyone not familiar with the Yuan-Ti snake people from D&D: Yuan-Ti are a society of people with different levels of snaky-ness. The highest ranking ones have the most snake features. One kind of Yuan-Ti (the abominations) are rather well represented with the Nagendra from Bones IV, but for my 2nd set I'd like to split each Nagendra and glue them to a human torso or human legs. The good news is, they come pre-split at the waist and I didn't glue them together yet. Bad news, they seem a bit thicker than usual humanoids, so this might limit conversion options. Has anyone here tried a similar conversion or has some hints on where to start looking? I'd prefer plastic and I can't do resin prints, so files are sadly out.
  7. Thank you for reminding me. I'll gonna get the ghost ship. I was very concerned about ordering it before seeing it in customers' hands, since it's such a large piece in translucent plastic and I couldn't really imagine it not seeming blobby around the connecting points. I quite like what I've seen so far and I'll try to paint it halfway, so it looks as if some planks have rotten away/broken off, revealing the glowy bits in their place. Fingers crossed it'll work out I guess.
  8. I mean, I wouldn't buy the Wizkids version (I really like Ma'al's aesthetic and will buy and paint her one day, I'm sure, just two boxes of KS stuff to get through first ....), but calculating supplies + working time 400$ seems ok. Not great, but ok? Buying Ma'al or printing a resin model and having it painted on comission is probably more expensive with the work hours involved. I'd like to know how they get those painted. I mean, to my knowledge there is no way to do this fully automated, so I guess they have some sort of workshop with a bunch of painters somewhere?
  9. I received my miniatures, but there was no bill or shipping manifest inside. I'll make sure I got the right ones through the website I guess. Has anyone here worked with decals for the Dwarven shields before? I've got a lot of those and no ambition to spend hours with each. The humans I got look fine next to the Bones V Townsfolk I painted, even a bit bigger than I expected, but the Dwarves are really tiny. My bf plays an Artificier Dwarf in my new campaign, and he chose a Kharadron Overlord from GW as his miniature. That guys torso is basically as big as a whole RBG Dwarf. We'll probably play it as is "iron man" suit just being ginormous around his more slender frame. I got an American candy in a clear wrapper that was really delicious, maybe someone here can help me identify it. No label, red bonbon/hard candy, tasted like cinnamon (?) and it was actually kinda spicy, less sweet.
  10. Has anyone seen pictures of the Crit Role Unpainted Wave 2? I've seen the names and I could preorder them in my gaming store, but no pictures so far.
  11. I'm so happy we're getting fey creatures. I have a giant, fey-formed hole in my collection and at least some of the weirder creatures to fill it now. Still hoping for a Reaper fey expansion in Bones VI, but maybe that chance also increased with the "Wild beyond the Witchlight". Bonus points for the female Ice Troll I never know I needed, and the female Ogre who will fit in with my Bones Hill Giants like her Wizkids brother does. And myconids ❤️ They just seem to have a lot of texture and look like they'll be a joy to paint.
  12. Check your other package. In my case, both packages had the exact same value (each half of the total order). My guess is they have to distribute that somewhat evenly, otherwise you could cheat and send orders in multiple packages, each just under the fees treshhold.
  13. Is there a way to suggest them adding the weapon sprues from Bones III? As far as I've gathered from twitch those also have issues with being packaged properly for retail. I'm kinda thinking about the GitD pirate ship these days. But I wouldn't want to keep it mostly clear and am hoping to see someone who mostly paints their GitD ship and just has the effect show through a little before I have to make the decision.
  14. Glad to hear. Now just give me those weapon sprues from Bones 3 Got my pirate ship today. Had a mild shock bc the post office lady wanted more fees than I paid for the ship, but they just halved the total declared value and put it on each package. All is fine, I'm ending up at 22% of my order. Can't complain about this at all, my main package got into customs on a saturday and out the same day (I didn't even know they worked on saturdays) and the ship was in 5 days.
  15. So far my only problem is two Sea Giants but no Eye Tyrant in the Darkest Depths expansion, and I'm mostly through. My boat should have arrived today but they didn't ring and just took it to the post office instead, where we'll be able to pick it up tomorrow. Bit annoying since I'll have to hurl it up the hill, but at least they delivered the heavier package.
  16. Got my stuff 30 min ago. Everything but the ship (supposedly, haven't checked yet). My package arrived with DHL after being sent out with Parcelforce (no idea who they are, maybe they operate only in the UK?). DHL changed their process since last I got something with fees on it from them. Instead of asking for cash at the door which was always a struggle they'll send you a bill later. Much better. Currently I'm waiting for my bf's meeting to finish so we can go into an extended lunch break and dig through it a bit.
  17. Yup that worked for me. Seems like there are more dwarves incoming. Tre just sculpts such character into his miniatures. It's really too bad he won't be continuing the line.
  18. Personally I like variety in my enemy miniatures, so I don't have e. g. 2 orcs who look the same. My orc crew from Bones fulfills this requirement though. Sprues from Wizkids sounded interesting, bc a lot of their enemys only come in 2 poses from that one pack they sell of them, and some of those enemies are trademarked and not easily replaced. The solo miniatures shown in the article posted above aren't even that customizable though. https://www.gamesradar.com/prismatic-paint-and-frameworks-revealed/ The torso main miniature stays the same, one can just change heads and put slightly different accessoires on. With the creatures it's similar: you won't make 2 vastly different Beholders or Trolls from 2 sprues. Looking at something like the Frostgrave sprues or older GW stuff (back when they weren't mono posed) it should be possible to make really different builds and not just variations on a theme. Again, I can kinda see someone being happy about their bard displaying the correct instrument or their wizard carrying a spellbook on their belt or whatever. But if you're willing to spend 15$ for your PC miniature you have so many gorgeous choices outside the plastic lines. And to me personally a artistically pleasing miniature with a good composition/flow/mood is more important than having the correct load out.
  19. Have any of you had luck contacting him about adding to orders? I tried via facebook on monday but so far, no answer. Suddenly everyone wants to play dwarves in my new group and he has some of the nicest ones, but a whole new package to Germany for 2-5 dwarves would be a bit silly.
  20. ufff to those prices. According to phdgames, where I usually look for preview pictures, it's 14,99$ for the individuals (at least I guess you can get 1 Miniature out of it with names like "human wizard male"), 24,99$ for bigger things like a drider or a troll, 39,99$ for a stone giant or a hill giant and, as written above, 49,99$ for the kobolds or orcs set. That's .... a lot more than I was looking on spending. I can imagine someone going for that if they really want their PC to have the correct loadout or something, similar to why people build characters on heroforge. But as a DM I was looking forward to finally getting some variety in their creatures for encounter building, which so far has been lacking from the range. Nope to those prices though. Edit: Especially with how official D&D modules (and these are official D&D miniatures and their releases somewhat follow the modules) are written and balanced for party sizes you usually need multiple of each creature. How do they imagine that going? Are we supposed to drop 100$ to outfit an orc encounter? There are multiple options out there to do that way cheaper. And it gets even more ridiculous with something like trolls, who you apparently just get one (and I assume spare parts) out of a box for 25$. Who is this marketed towards? So far the Wizkids releases were of fine quality but not exactly "pro painting competition" ready or anything.
  21. Love those sprues, hopefully they won't be too expensive. Depends on the wave a bit. Earlier ones were definetly worse. I have some miniatures I really like and that are more on par with Bones Black than Bones, but others are worse. I had some that barely got a face and others that are quite fun to paint. They also come preassembled and the gaps are quite bad sometimes and preprimed, which obscures details in some cases. As usual, larger figures with less fiddly detail work better. Ideally you'll look at them in a FLGS.
  22. My rapid delivery stuff is supposed to arrive today. Got sent with FedEx on Tuesday. I'm living in Germany so it didn't have to travel too far.
  23. The update saying UK/EU fulfillment is just 25% complete is just a bit of a bummer. They've been on it for 2 weeks now and are, apperantly, also not going by (strictly) wave order, as many wave 1 backers still wait while later waves have their stuff.
  24. My ship isn't here yet, but in the past I had good results with hairdryers + Bones. For cooling, maybe some halfway-molten baggies of ice would help?
