  6. Yea you may be off to a good start so far.. but you have 4 people played so far.. and they were some of your best.. I still have several to play.. and only one of my players have played thus far.. I like my chances so far.. so good luck with the 3 way tie.. for second as I will be the lone gnome at the top.. booya :) ::smooches and Huggles:: coming your way!! :) Thats alright I'll take my lose this week. I wasn't top seed last year either and I won the whole thing... bring on the playoffs!!!!
  7. You just want the #1 seed so you don't have to face me in the first round and I bounce you out on your keister like I did last week Sheesh I had to rest my players.... ya saw how my bench out scored your starters... have to have my team for the playoffs LOL
  8. Off to a good start this week.... I like that in the final week me and the gnomes are fighting for the overall #1 playoff spot... I'll take a 3 way tie with the wind and gnomes since if I win this week I'll be 1-0 against each of ya heads up
  9. Back to Back division championships!!!! ..... can I rest my fantasy players for the playoffs??? lol
  10. Thank god.. Eli gets hurt and my only backup it Quinn... I hope they start him at home this week.
  11. I disagree I am okay with the points thing, but when you start adding in restrictions it gets to be a pain. Keep it simple stupid... that is the best way to say it....(not that you are stubbgod) 1 point for every keeper if you keep them 2 years in a row then its 2 etc...
  12. The point is there isn't going to be any new players. The league is capped at 16 teams. I am totally cool with keep 8 players and then go from there. So 1/2 your team is going to be made of "Free Agents" and Rookies. This way if you do win the league your not stuck drafting 75% of your team at the back of the pack. This way if you are the worst team you get the first picks to rebuild grabbing this years hottest rookies and free agents.
  13. Before the season gets started I figured we could all agree on how it is going to work for next year... my vote keep 6 players and then do a standard NFL draft. Since we have 16 teams there won't be a supplemental draft. This way it is set in stone so we all know going into the season what we can look forward to at the end of the year.
  14. I've said snake style since day one...
  15. 2:30 is fine by me. My concerns over the draft have been stated so everyone knows my choice, standard FF draft just like last year.
  16. Styates... desicion on the draft style? are we keeping it the same as last year?
  17. I must have missed the boat on this one because I never remeber it being made official. In fact when Staytes PMed me about keepers he wasn't even sure that we had made a descion, so if the commision isn't sure I doubt it was a solid desicion. I would have loved to keep the majority of my team and add youth to it. Anyways.... We need to hammer out what we are going to do so we can get ready to have a fun season.
  18. I detest the normal draft style with only having 2 keepers. It completely penalizes teams that do well the year before if we do worst team gets first pick best team gets last pick. There are plently of teams that did worse then the winners did last year that have better keepers and then they get the best picks too? that makes no sense. On paper whoever picks first will have the best team whoever pick last will have the worst team doing it normal style. EXAMPLE using cbs's mock draft 1 Team 1 LaDainian Tomlinson 26.1 ppg Team 16 Jones-Drew, Maurice 14.2 ppg 2 Team 1 Palmer, Carson 19.8 ppg Team 16 Williams, Roy 10.8 ppg 3 Team 1 Jones, Thomas 11.7 ppg Team 16 McNabb, Donovan 15.2 ppg 4 Team 1 T.J. Houshmandzadeh 11.8 ppg Team 16 Barber, Marion III 11.2 ppg 5 Team 1 Ward, Hines 10.9 ppg Team 16 Edwards, Braylon 7.7 ppg Seriously you think these two teams are balanced? If you get the last pick then entire draft you have such a subpar team completly gives the advantage to Team 1. That is why 90% of fantasy drafts are snake. Either we keep the draft like it was last year and snake it, or do a random generator and your pick will change every round to keep things fair. Just my 2 cents Well to be honest I consider your logic to be flawed simply because there are players in your example that will not be available and trying to use average points per game as a comparison factor in fantasy football doesn't always work that well. Certainly though your logic makes sense but I'm looking at it from the perspective of an established FF league. In an established league your draft order (ignoring expansion teams) is determined by how well you did last season, so in this case the team with the first pick finished last and the team that won it all is picking last (16th spot), again we are ignoring expansion teams and assuming everyone played last season. So this is what a snake draft will look like from the perspective of the team picking in the #1 spot for the first 8 rounds: 1, 32, 33, 64, 65, 96, 97 and 128 Now from the standard draft perspective for 8 rounds: 1, 27, 33, 49, 65, 81, 97, 113 even if you go with the "take the best player available" style, the normal draft should give the worst team in the league a good change to improve his team. Now picking last is our Superbowl winner picking the first 8 rounds from the 16th spot: Snake: 16, 17, 48, 49, 80, 81, 112, 113 Regular: 16, 32, 48, 64, 80, 96, 112, 128 So in the snake draft he's going to do slightly better than in a normal draft. So in an established league I see the snake draft as penalizing the team that finished last and benefiting the team that finished 1st. I mentioned a lot earlier that I thought we weren't holding nearly enough players either. Not allowing more keepers effectively nullifies mid season trades and drafting for the future. I ran a 12 team league for 10 years using a standard draft for the subsequent seasons without any problems with teams keeping as many as 8 players and at least 6 different teams won our championship and only twice did a team repeat in consecutive years. I did have a system to simulate free agency that worked quite nicely though. I'll point out that I did finish high in the standings last season and I will be picking towards the back of the pack and a snake draft will benefit me. This is going to be a long draft too, everyone is going to have to stay on their toes, pay attention and keep it moving. I am definiately not trying to pick a fight here, being a new guy, but what does theyear before have anything to do with this year? Basically, you are saying that once someone "locks up" someone say like Ladanian, he can have him locked up every year until he decides to stop playing, or until he decides that LT isnt living up to snuff? How is that fair to new players? That just makes new players not want to join in. Now, I am all for having fun with it, so I am gonna live with it and move on, but still seems like all new players start with a foot in the mud. May not have to pick from the over aged, overpaid, but again, it also means that we dont even have a shot at Ladanian, Peyton Manning, etc... If there are 10 returning players, then that is like 20 players that I dont even get a chance at just because I didnt play last year? And actually, I love the idea of a random "initiative" draw each round. It works this way because we are trying to simulate, in our own fashion, what really happens with a football team during the regular season by playing games and the strategies deviced to create that team from the draft. In this case we are an existing league and have created a "well" of players that expansion teams can choice from before the draft. That's what the NFL does so that's what we elected to do when we decided that we would allow exiting teams to keep players. If this was "real" football you wouldn't have had a shot at those players either otherwise P Manning would be playing for the Texans. I believe that the expansion teams will get to select their two keepers from the players discarded (and there will be some quality material there) and then get slotted into the draft. The expansion teams could all be placed at the front of the draft which is also the way the NFL does it. I don't remember what was agreed upon. Frankly a random "initiative" draw would suck and bog down what is going to be a long draft anyway. Lets just keep 1/2 our teams have a short draft and call it a day I don't know what the solution is having 16 teams already waters down the choices alot anyways, only having 2 keepers makes the draft style more difficult to choose because everyone has a different idea of how it should be. I know my ppg and pick aren't what is going to happen it was just simulated using a national mock draft with 16 teams... it is all averages.
  19. That's why the later rounds are important, and like with every draft, there is some luck involved. Look at how Randy did, he picked Marquis Colston on a whim in like the 16th round for the sole reason that we were getting to the low tiers of picks, and well, he was a WR for the Saints, which Randy likes. Once you get past the tier 1 all star names, if you don't know the players, you're not going to do well. You don't win games by having one super star, but being able to draft well the entire way, and having a team that can continue to score points in the playoffs. One superstar gives a cushion, but it doesn't guarantee victory. You also don't want to pick players solely on ppg. Bye week, position, etc becomes crucial as well. I know some of it comes down to luck, injuries, etc. Hell I got Frank Gore in like the 9th round last year. I am saying that "on paper" Team 1 drafting 1st every round gives a major advantage on talent. If LT get hurt week 1 and is out the entire year, yes that is going to weaken whoever has him, things will happen. A couple people complain that a snake isn't fair, I'm just pointing out that a regular draft isn't even close to being fair, everything you stated about a snake draft being unfair holds true to a regular draft as well thats why most leagues snake draft it makes the talent distribution more even across all teams.
