    Valkeeri Leader-A by Hydra Miniatures

Flash! Aha! Very nice, in an NPC sort of way.

Ebay - it's just not fun anymore

Absolutely this. Unless you are talking about first edition Shakespeare folios then second-hand books are scarcely worth the cost of postage.

Getting to Know You -- Sept 2019

Pretty dull, for most of the time I was at sea, so just a steady amount of work. I suppose the high point would be NOT being on the ship that was detained by Iranians.
  8. OK, this morning I've posted the parcel off to Kuroneko, hope this goes well.

Hmm, feel very much in two minds over this. I sympathise with Beagle and everyone else who feels themselves to be priced out of a pocket-money hobby. But I also feel slightly inclined to say: "First World Problem". To me a lot of the pleasure of collecting is the process of searching, both on-line and in bricks-and-mortar places. So if anyone is asking silly prices I just continue the search. (And hope the greedy swine chokes!)

Demigoddesses Don't Wear Panties - Pic Heavy

All very good, especially like the understated marble base.
  13. Not sure if "Thank you" is the right thing to say, but glad that I was put right in this case. The remake of Rocky Horror has only one laugh-out-loud moment: Magenta bangs the gong and announces dinner. Columbia turns to the audience and quips: "I hope it's not Meatloaf again!"
  14. Has anyone watch the new version of "Rocky Horror Picture show"? Tim Curry is in that version too, this time as the Narrator. I think he turns in a deliberately DREADFUL performance, just to elf up the production as he could not be Frankenfurter.

Talk Like a Pirate Day 2019

"Hand over the keys to the safe Captain, or watch me chopping this mans fingers off." Sorry, I keep taking this seriously.
  16. Right, I shall change the order slightly to keep the mainland Europeans all together at the end of the round; Kuroneko Edsterdoom Minidungeonmaster Beagle Arkady Limeth Tosattearp Planning to post this on Saturday.
  17. These are cooking apples, which are pretty sharp tasting. The apples have been cored, peeled and sliced and then vacuum-packed with sugar. Next we shall freeze them until wanted for cooking. The sugar will gradually work into the apple pieces and both sweeten and preserve them, ready to be put straight into pies or whatever else we decide to cook.
  18. OK, here is my proposed order of delivery for the next round; Kuroneko Edsterdoom Minidungeonmaster Limeth Beagle Arkady Tosattearp I shall be keeping the weight at under 2 kg. If anyone has any objections to this please say so. I would like to post this next week and get things moving! Speak now or forever hold your peace!
  19. A busy but satisfying day yesterday. Collected our first crop of windfall apples and sugar-packed them: Finished drying out a batch of choritzos: Finished maturing the cheeses we started last time I was home; ...and finally made a big batch of sausage rolls:

  22. Like I say TGP, I just worry a bit. I hear you eating a lot of processed food, not a lot of fruit and veg and you say you have health issues. I don't like to sound like a mother hen, but, you know, do look after yourself and try to get a balanced diet.
  23. I am the last person in the world to claim to be a healthy eating fanatic, but TGP: judging by some of the things you have posted over the last couple of months I'm getting seriously worried about your diet.
  24. I've just finished re-reading an excellent history book titled "That Sweet Enemy", by Robert and Isabelle Tombs. It covers the relations between France and Britain between 1688 to 2003. And it centres itself on the perceptions and prejudices that the 2 countries hold about each other. So as well as covering the obvious things like diplomacy and battles the book discusses literature and the arts, finance, tourism, fashion, "culture" and just about anything else you can think of. But perhaps what is most amusing are the 2 authors. Mr and Mrs Tombs are a married couple, he is British and she is French. And it's plain that they don't always agree! Every so often throughout the book they write a sort of summary chapter, and take alternate paragraphs to put their own point of view, which usually includes implying that their partner is talking nonsense! I imagine their must have been some fairly terse times chez Tombs while this book was being written. Highly recommended, there is a LARGE chapter on the American War of Independence for those whose interest lie in that direction.
  25. Sorry about that Glitterwolf, but I realise that I forgot to include MiniDungeonMaster, so revised list: Minidungeonmaster Edsterdoom Beagle Kuroneko Limeth Arkady Tosattearp
