  1. FedEx has GPS on its trucks. Their exact wording was that they “couldn’t confirm delivery,” suggesting they may have sent it to the wrong place (or at least had no proof their truck was actually at my house when delivery supposedly happen). If so, I imagine they would have to pay out. But their contract was with CMON, not me. My point was merely that CMON has the option to pursue that remedy, whereas I do not. In any case, CMON chose the carrier and elected not to require a signature. As between myself and CMON, any error made by the carrier (whether induced by CMON’s instructions or not) is on CMON, not me. Whether FedEx took the box to the wrong place or merely dropped it on an urban doorstep without notifying the residents it was there in any way (how hard would it really have been to mash the box into the doorbell?), the mistake is imputed to the party who hired FedEx. And none of the legal issues detracts from the fact that this is extremely poor customer service, and not the sort of company that merits business when there are far more great minis out there than any of us could ever paint anyway (and more games than any of us could ever play).
  2. Unfortunately, they say only the shipper can file such a claim in this case since the package never reached me. If it had arrived damaged, that would be a different story. I pointed out to CMON that only they could get compensation from FedEx, but it didn’t change their refusal to make me whole at all.
  3. Well, I’m done with CMON. My package was either stolen off my doorstep in the ten minutes between alleged delivery and when I got an email from FedEx (which I happened to be signed up for) or was delivered to the wrong location and lost. If the driver did drop it on the right doorstep, he did nothing to notify us so we could bring it inside. After confirming with FedEx that the package was truly lost, I submitted a claim to CMON. Their official position is that, because the package was marked delivered (supposedly somewhere in my general proximity), the loss is entirely mine and they will do nothing. I didn’t really expect a replacement, given most of this stuff is out of print. I did think they would do right by a customer who had invested heavily in a dozen of their kickstarters and their retail products. File this under the old adage about knowing who you are doing business with. I was skeptical about their business moving forward, given their stock delisting and inability to satisfy their auditors they qualify as a going concern (presumably because they have fallen into the robbing Peter to pay Paul method of KS financing and are risking a death spiral if anything goes far wrong). Add to that the fact that this is their stance on what is a standard risk of the type of business they do (competent companies plan for this type of loss), and it seems foolish to trust them with your money, even if you haven’t yet been personally stung. Caveat emptor indeed.
  4. Guy apparently mortgaged his house to make sure MBP 1.5 could be fully delivered after it ran into problems. KS is littered with projects where the creators faced the same situation and instead let the entire project fall apart (often while pretending for years afterward that some miracle would eventually happen and they would deliver). Guess I’m still going to feel it is unfortunate his vision doesn’t seem to be working out for him when he put that much on the line to get here.
  5. Sad to see how this one is going. In theory, a company that doesn’t renege on its KS obligations even when things get tough (as with MBP 1.5) and that is honest about how much funding it takes a project to succeed on its own without creating a multiple-KS pyramid scheme is the sort of company that should be rewarded. Especially when the quality of its products is quite high. But in this case, they seem to have mistaken the desires of their core audience (board gamers) without successfully appealing to a new audience (wargamers). And there are indications that, if this one fails to fund, they may have to fold after delivering their last Batman KS (product currently on the water). So just unfortunate all around.
  6. Ugh. At this for 37 minutes now, and have not gotten it to go through yet. Wave 10, here I come.
  7. For the lucky ones who get a bag, could someone confirm what Reaper figures are in them (besides the Sophie and Mousling)? That way folks can avoid duplicates. Thanks!
  8. B&B is an insta-back for me, and there aren’t many of those (Reaper is probably the only other). These sculpts make painting easy (or as easy as it can be), and the folks running the company are lovely (and extremely punctual). Definitely have a soft spot for that toad.
  9. Hmmm... What theme would possibly involve Amazons and owl sculptures? Perhaps if we try hard enough, wisdom will come... Some sacrificial bulls probably wouldn’t hurt either.
  10. I am guessing that is per figure for the pledge price plus shipping for a full pledge (so if there were 10 figures, a pledge plus shipping would be $66.90). At least that is the info they had on their last KS as i recall (and then decreased it as stretch goals were added).
  11. Looks like July 24th for these. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/tombguardians/305078254?ref=cwnqeh&token=ded10eaf
  12. It is a very fine looking stable and would go quite well with the very fine looking cottages and windmill sitting on my table waiting for some paint (a condition in which they are, sadly, far from alone). I need somewhere for my Burrows and Badgers figures to commit adorable fluffy murder after all.
  13. Looks like this one is live now. And modular. https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ttw-altburg-stable/tabletop-worlds-altburg-stable-32mm-resin-cast-terrain
  14. Thanks for the info! And strong work on the painting. Good to know they look ok alongside Reaper. Obviously 28mm means different things to different companies. Are there any specific figures besides the conquistadors that you really like? And any thoughts on the game system?
  15. Glitterwolf (or anyone else), Considering upgrading. How have you found the quality on these vs (day) Reaper. And have they been on time (at least in KS terms)? They seem a little disorganized. Thanks! ian
