  1. Meant to post this yesterday, I was walking to work when I heard a distinctive noise and this flew right over me ( not my photo, unfortunately) A glorious spitfire! Flying in a tribute between hospitals to say thanks for their hard work in these terrible times. I really wish I'd brought my camera, but such is life, I guess. Also my sympathies to @Chaoswolf, hope your wife is feeling better soon.
  2. Have you tried Laughing Man Coffee? This advert makes me almost want to give it another try.... https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=dIdNOzVIPCI
  3. I'm pretty sure that the official sign of transitioning to adulthood is when your attitude to snow changes from "yay" to "oh noes"
  4. This one from a local steak/ burger place. Astonishingly it's vegan but it's the best vegan thing I've ever eaten. (Please note, I haven't gone completely over to the dark side, still just veggie)
  5. Orcas too! These guys aren't live at the moment, but they often live stream footage from their deep sea remote sub. I was watching it once and saw a six gilled shark like the one you painted recently https://m.youtube.com/c/EVNautilus/videos?disable_polymer=true&itct=CBIQ8JMBGAEiEwj_88CGqPDrAhUT5bQKHQtfC90%3D&disable_polymer=true
  6. Ooh, there's a kitten one! Thanks @Glitterwolf, all the chicks have fledged on my various bird of prey cams.
  7. Loki figured out a long time ago that what's on the tv isn't real, and as such offers no nutritional value for him. The only things he's seemed vaguely interested in was a documentary about Great White Sharks, 6 Underground and the original Lion King His brother is the total opposite, he'll settle down in the evening with the attitude of "Right, what are we watching tonight?". He'll also come running when he hears the voices of David Attenborough or(oddly) Ryan Reynolds. He was very confused by Detective Picachu though Well as they say, misery loves company. Sorry to hear that you guys have days like that as well though I think I have 3 different versions of that mini, but imho that is by far the best looking one I totally blame Angel Giraldez for my fascination with NMM, but I guess even he uses the airbrush for most of his work. I should just bite the bullet and try it that way. I think it's because I watch a lot of artists online who manage it so effortlessly. The really galling thing is that I actually managed it once- I was painting a stone weapon for a Hordes satyr and I accidentally made it look like glorious, shiny metal. Then, like an idiot, I painted over it because that wasn't the effect that I wanted Still annoyed about it to this day :(
  8. My camera must be a meanie, because it looked WORSE in the photo I don't know why I just can't get it to work, I go through this cycle of optimism/cautious hope/disappointment every single time I try the technique and it's getting seriously tiresome. I've got a decent sized Infinity Pan-O force waiting to me to finally figure it out. I'm seriously considering breaking out the airbrush, but that's kinda cheating Also I was wrong, turns out that you can mess up weathering. Ever have one of those hobby days where you'd have been better not touching the brushes at all? Sorry for venting, I'll end the post with some good news The Great British Bake Off is back next Tuesday!!!
  9. Ugh, I spent three hours last night trying to do NMM on a small part of a mini and I seriously thought that I'd nailed it. Looked at it this morning and realized that in actuality it was a badly blended, grainy piece of carp Into the isopropyl it goes..... Think I'll work on my Mystic Portal today, it's almost impossible to mess up weathering, right?
  10. I absolutely love this cover of Genesis's Land of Confusion. It sounds like the soundtrack to the most epic movie trailer EVER, as well as being the theme song of 2020 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=AFF7FKS9Exc (The original isn't too bad either, btw)
  11. Ask and ye shall receive https://m.youtube.com/results?search_query=lucifer+bloopers+season+1 Sorry your not enjoying it, it's one of my favorites My housemate thinks that it's much better if you view it as World of Darkness, with Will being a genuine empath and Hannibal being a real life Wendigo. Sounds odd but it kinda makes sense the further you get into the show. I decided to revisit my childhood and rewatch the A-team again. I used to watch reruns on tv when I was a kid and it's one of the few shows that I still love from that era. Yeah, it's hokey and ridiculous but sometimes you need a bit of nonsense in your life. Also, Mr T is still the coolest man alive
  12. My current plan is to keep them as statutes on the inactive side and give them the same weathering as the portal. I'm considering doing the glowing eyes on the active side, but I'm wary of messing up the finish on them if I get it wrong. I'd need to make the eyes blue, yellow or white so that it would stand out from the green. I also realize that I need to do something with the orbs that the Foo Lions are holding. I'm considering making them black with a mix of the 5 different dragon colours in the recesses. Mostly because I never go for the easy option, because where's the fun in that?
  13. Thank you everyone for all the kind words, I haven't had much painting time lately so here's the progress I've made in the last couple of weeks. First of all, I filled in the gap between the green and red glowing runes. This is as far as I'm probably going to go with it as it's supposed to draw the eye towards the portal, not be the focus of the piece. Which is a shame because I genuinely enjoyed painting them- I think I must be a glutton for punishment Apologies for the blurry photo. Emboldened by David Diamondstones Reapercon Twitch OSL class, I started work on the glowing eyes on the "dormant" side of the portal. I highlighted the eyes and surrounding areas with Pure White... ...then glazed/layered over the white with the colours of the respective dragon heads. I had to redo this step at one point because I mixed up the positions of the heads and red and blue were in the wrong place. Heres how it ended up. I need to do something subtle with the Foo Lions, but I'm not sure what at the moment. My plans for this week involve weathering the 'inactive' side of the portal. Something hidden away in a dungeon for so long is sure to have some native flora growing on it, right? Mosses and lichens don't need much light, so I took some photos of this wall today as inspiration. I'm hoping to get some hobby time tomorrow, so here's hoping I can get started on it. Thanks for reading my ramblings everybody. As always, all comments and criticism are appreciated.
  14. He/she/it looks awesome! I'm sure your players will love making friends with it
  15. Happy Birthday! Hope you have an awesome one!
  16. They look like something from the puffball family, we get a similar species around here. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Puffball I used to be a fauna/flora surveyor, which mean I have a lot of random info on such things. Mostly it's just enough to stay away from poisonous stuff
  17. Yup, that's the floofy wee brat in all her fuzzy glory
  18. Good luck! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!
