Reaper Bones 4: Enthusiasm and Commentary Thread

Interesting, this is my first reaper KS so it’s totally new to me this shipping page, I see Bristol is the most recent shipping destination is there a way to see other shipping destinations that have already been listed?

Getting to know you March 2019 brought to you by Glitterwolf

Coincidentally I’m at a theme park this weekend! We got to euro Disney yesterday and leave tomorrow- there’s a group of 7 of us here celebrating for a hen do! Before this I hadn’t been to a theme park in probably a couple of years. Zoos I don’t tend to go to- I think some try their hardest- and some don’t- but the enclosures are so frequently obviously designed for the people, not the animals- I don’t like it. Fairs- eh, take them or leave them— not fussed

Yeah I’ve had stuff from Oathsworn in those boxes before they’re great, I have similar boxes in a5 and a4 from work they’re super handy- I keep some of my painted minis in too. You can get them fairly cheap actually I recommend looking into it if you think you’d use them! I wonder if they’re doing another HiSS Kickstarter soon I love those models I’m painting lots lately

    Work Space Lighting

I have 3 LED clamp lights I bought from amazon I think but I’ve seen them other places too- they have 3 light colour settings, warm neutral and cool, and 10 brightness settings, which I always have set to max- I like the clamp ones as it means they don’t take up any footprint on my desk- one is clamped to the bookcase edge to the right of my desk and 2 are clamped to my paint rack edges- one on each side so ones in front of me and ones to my left- their necks do sag sometimes so I have to reposition them occasionally but not all the time- I position them so there’s no shadows on my desk which I like.

Cuttlefish Colors: A hobby paint line.

Yeah, like others I’m not really sure where the “massive savings” are here- unless the paint bottles are much larger? Also no disrespect to the creator but it seems like a pretty low effort campaign, and it’s doing really well- which is great for them- but I worry about these sorts of campaigns suffering from their own success.

Your Kickstarter list. How you doing?

Saga World Builder: Modular tiles for tabletop and D&D games Estimated delivery Oct 2017 Recently had communication on this and showing signs of one day at least delivering the tiles, I don't really care about lots of the stretch goals that they added like RPG rules and an app but nothing of those has been mentioned in a LONG time I think. Reaper Miniatures Bones 4: Mr. Bones EPIC Adventure! Estimated delivery Feb 2019 A bit late- not fussed yet. Strongholds & Streaming Estimated delivery Sep 2018 Digital rewards received, awaiting physical book and miniatures. The stream has started now and they're really getting into the swing of it- I'm enjoying it, it's definitely not like Critical Role as a D&D stream, much more like a regular game. Godtear Estimated delivery Apr 2019 Totally lost interest in this one, impulse pledge I regret. If it turns up I'll probably sell it or it'll go on a shelf never to be looked at. On schedule? Maybe? I don't know. Critical Role Estimated delivery Mar 2019 Delayed, not sure by how long yet, I'm really concerned by the latest production photos this product does not look good at all. Very disapointing, I hope they turn it around. Animal Adventures: Tales of Dungeons and Doggies Estimated delivery May 2019 On schedule I think? Really looking forward to getting this.

    R.I.P. Keith Flint ( Prodigy)

Very sad about this, I never met him but he’s local so lots of my work buddies and people I know did know him or met him at least. Sounds like he was a top guy.

Reaper Bones 4: Enthusiasm and Commentary Thread

At the time I didn't get them because I thought "Bah! I can't use these in D&D what's the point in getting them!" ... now I find myself staring longingly at them imagining how much fun they'd be to paint... add it to the post-fulfilment shopping list I'm slowly curating! What a coincidence, I too have 20 miniatures to paint!

    Unpainted Minis from Wizkids

I repositioned my Umberhulk in the same way as Bones, boiling hot water and bend then cold water. He was very hunched over -and still is- but not so much his mandibles are touching the floor, whereas before they were lower than his base! I have the Flying Ray on my painting desk at the moment as it's cool looking and piqued my interest (despite his horrible mold line across his teeth) but just realised there isn't an obvious equivalent in 5e (this is from the pathfinder line) that I could find anyway- any ideas on what the dnd version of this might be called or a stat block I could use in it's place?

The Day & Night at Tortuga Island, 75mm Resin Figures

Really gorgeous, I totally love these, but wont go in on the kickstarter as I smell IP problems.

Randomness XV: 'tis a silly place.

Oh wow that’s so sad I’m really sorry to hear that- I’m new to the forums and can only infer what happened to you from context and other posts I’ve seen mentioning your incident but that must have been really stressful for you after what you’ve been through- I hope it hasn’t brought back too many bad memories and you’re able to not be too affected by it.

March to New Hobby Hights!(March Hobby Goals)

I will be abroad for a few days this month but not too long, I'm going to EuroDisney on a hen do- it's not my cup of tea necessarily but I'm sure I'll have a good time as I like the group of girls going! This month for my hobby goals I would like to: 1) Receive Bones 4! Hopefully? Maybe? If they're shipping in March as it sounds like they're on track to do I suspect my parcel will arrive here in dear old blighty either the very end of March or the start of April- so here's hoping! 2a) Paint 15 miniatures! I did it in January and February (exceeded, even) so lets hope March stays on trend! I actually have a bunch of minis prepped already that are almost ready to start painting (a mix of reaper bones and wizkids unpainted) 2b) I would really like 5 of the miniatures I paint this month to be miniatures I can use for the WD:DH module I'll be running hopefully this month 3) Print off all needed maps for Chapter 1 of WD:DH 4) Complete list of needed miniatures for the whole module- shop accordingly? Personal goals 1) Get a new job? I was approached by the charity I volunteer for who asked me to apply for a full time paid role that's becoming available shortly, so hopefully I'll hear back on that this month! 2) Prepare for EuroDisney! Clothes shopping is definitely needed I've been told there will be several themes we need to dress for throughout the long weekend which at this time I have nothing suitable for!

Winter is here: February 2019 Goals

Good thing I checked on this because I forgot that part of my goal is the 5 minis for WD:DH, I havent been thinking about that and I prepped a bunch of models ready for painting today- none with the intention of using for this. I dont know what's wrong with me that whatever I want to paint is never what I need for a game! I'm also nowhere near finishing the book and had ALSO totally forgotten about the map part of this goal! JEEZ! I do have one map printed. Oh dear, not quite as much done this month as I had hoped.I did paint 16 miniatures... but less than 5 of them were for the module I'll be running! Well... I could probably use 5 of them... but it would be a stretch, not as I was intending! I finished reading WD:DH, but I didn't finish making the list of all the miniatures I would need nor did I print any additional maps! What a fail! I'll carry them over to next months goals thread and hopefully kick my bum into gear! I would really like to start running it this month (March) so wish me luck!

Department of Acquisitions and Enablement, the Second

A very typical Ali express experience here. I ordered several acrylic "display boxes", 20x10x10cm, to display/store some of my large size minis in, unfortunately they have arrived and are 14x8x7, making them unsuitable- so will have to return them- what a pain! They did arrive surprisingly quickly though and are of decent quality for the price paid (not a lot)

Getting to Know You, Feb 2019

oh wow this one just took me on a deep dive into the past, ages 12-14 I wrote a lot of poetry on dev art, some of which I have just re-read and confirm that it is truly the very definition of angst ridden teenage drivel, and should never have had to be read by anyone and I refuse to inflict it on anyone else again- unfortunately once things are on the internet... that's where they stay- but wow- this was particularly terrible, I feel cringey about it just reading it.

Greebo Pinkings - Cutiemals: Northern Clans

Those cats might be the best thing I’ve ever seen and I am heartbroken to have missed out! From what I can see they weren’t KS exclusive though? So I’ll just have to pick them up when they make it to Greebo’s website!

Raise your hand if it's snowing

Yesterday was the warmest February day on record- swung from the extreme of the severe weather warnings we were getting at the beginning of the month!

A terribly boring but useful acquisition arrived in the post this morning- a zip lock bag filled with zip lock bags! All ready for the incoming Bones IV to be decanted and sorted.

What do you use for long term file storage?

I have had the same job (and thus, email) since I was 18, initially I used it for loads of personal stuff but lately (for reasons that have nothing to do with the fact I also just bought a very nice new formal outfit and have been updating my cv) I’ve been unsubscribing/ updating personal emails that come to my work address to my actual personal email address- I very rarely get personal ones come in now.

Movies - Recently Watched or Plan to Watch Soon

We saw How To Train Your Dragon 3 the other day, unfortunately I've never really paid much attention to the franchise before- meaning I'd completely missed that there was a second film and thought this was the second one! It didnt really effect my enjoyment of it- obviously a kids film its designed to be potentially viewed independently if needed it just left me wondering where a few characters had come from! Last night we saw Happy Death Day 2 last night, which was a really fun film- with surprisingly a few almost tear jerking moments! I really enjoyed this film, I know it doesnt look like it's going to be a "classic" or well received from critics- but it's really fun and I'd absolutely recommend it if you're looking for something fun to watch! Tonight there's a screening of The Favourite which I missed when it opened so I'm glad to get a chance to go see this again!
