  1. Thank you Iridil, all the lining was actually sculpted into the model! Edit-Oops, sorry, I was thinking of the actual robe, all that detail, the little moons, jewels, and lines all came with the mini!
  2. Good morning Reaperniks! So I've had this mini painted already about a week, but here in Omaha, it's been mostly kind of cloudy and rainy, so wasn't able to get a decent picture until this morning. This is Merlyon the Sorcerer, formerly of Thunderbolt Mountain and now being released by Ral Partha Legacy. Pretty fun figure to paint, and it's more akin to that 25 mm of yore: I still have a few more from this range I want to get around to painting. This one also had the eyeholes poked into the eyes, but they worked out this time pretty simply. Eyeholes in the owl too! Anyhoos, please enjoy responsibly!
  3. Call me simple, but I just thought they’re in the air, so between them and the ground is sky, so I figured some sort of sky blue would be a pretty good color!
  4. Thanks Metalchaos, sorry it took so long to respond, just noticed your comment!
  5. Thanks, I really love these sculpts,I’d love to see Tom Meier do more of these some day! No idea what that is, but I’m going to say yes?
  6. If you choose to believe the US-centric concept that every law-abiding fairy has the right to defend herself, it ceases to be so disturbing.
  7. Thank you Glitterwolf! Eeks, valid point now that I look at it. I wonder if the jewel at the end of his wand, if I made it green or blue, would dispel that image that I can’t now get out of my head.
  8. Thanks Iridil, I dont' know if that's the actual paint or the way the picture came out on my cell phone. I'm going to try later to take different pictures with my normal camera.
  9. The unicorn has such huge eyes, they were a joy to paint. A superior painter could do so much with them, I really could only give them a pupil, color and a white dot.
  10. Yeah, he’s really just a tunic, cape and belt. He has shoes and his wand and that’s it. The ones in the same blister pack are just about as simple.
  11. And hello again, my Reaper brethren and sistern, Another mini I finished just this afternoon, a Ral Partha Mage with Wand, sculpted by Dennis Mize back in the late seventies or early eighties. He came from the Children of the Night range, and his blister pack was originally called Shadow Elves or something like that, but nowadays at Iron Wind Metals, he's just known as Mage with Wand. I was going to use my normal camera to take these pictures, but my battery died and I didn't have any left at home, so took this one again too with my iPhone. he came out okay, not sure if too much contrast? Unlike the Unicorn I just posted, this one is only two photos, a front and a back. The only thing I'm not sure if I'm that happy with is his wand. The little jewel on top I was thinking of reddish-orange, but it may have turned out too much like the chestnut brown of the holding part of the wand. Anyhoos, this was a relatively simple mini to paint, not a lot of dingley danglies, which makes for a pretty quick job. In this blister pack he's got a female and two other male shadow elves. I'm almost kind of inspired to paint the rest of them as well. I've already painted the female three times, but the other two males haven't done yet. We'll see how inspired I get and if I throw them in my queue. Being they were called Shadow Elves, I thought of a drow vibe and one of the versions of the chick I actually did paint as a drow. Alas, we'll see what I end up doing, so many miniatures and only 30-40 years to live.
  12. So hello all you Reaperphonics! So finished this one recently. I'd done the other Flying Pink Unicorn, and wanted a slightly different version of pink, so here's what I came up with. This one, like the other fairy ballerinas, was sculpted by Tom Meier inspired by a design from his daughter with his company Thunderbolt Mountain Miniatures and now sold by Ral Partha Legacy. Lots of different pictures because it's mini with basically lots angles, not just front and back, hope not too many photos: They are the last of my ballerina fairies that I had from Ral Partha Legacy, going to have to now move on to something different I guess, maybe some Reaper Bones.....
  13. Beautiful job, far better to see this on a big screen than just on the Instagram feed!
  14. Thank you much Iridil! I wanted Morgan to have dark and more foreboding colors and the Lady in Waiting I just wanted some nice lively more “natural” colors, which oddly then ended up between autumn and summer maybe?
  15. Hello all you Reaperoloques, anxiously waiting for your Kickstarter boxes to arrive at your doors! I got my notice and hopefully I'll be seeing a big, beautiful box of plastic joy this Wednesday! But in the meantime, just plugging away painting... So I just finished these two Thunderbolt Mountain minis, and if you recall last time, I took y last photos with my new iPhone. I considered doing this again with these two minis, but took photos with my camera and then with the iPhone, and the iPhone photos were too brash or stark, so I'm using the camera photos instead. First Morgan le Fay: and then the Lady in Waiting: Both of these are available again for sale on Ral Partha Legacy's site, and actually they both come in the foot and mounted versions, but way back when, when I bought these, I didn't get the mounted versions, just their standing forms. Enjoyed doing both of them very much. The only odd thing again were they had those eyes with recesses for the irises, which I don't really like, but at least in this case worked out I think okay. I actually did a base walnut brown cover for the eyes and then when I went over them in white, the recesses remained unpainted and brown, so they turned out okay. I think for the future though, with more of these recessed eyeballs I'll actually paint the color in that section and then go over them again with white. Another thing to mention is these are true 25 mm figures, when that used to mean something, so these are very small. Anyhoos, hope you enjoy and these can momentarily distract you whilst you wait for your boxes to arrive! Happy Independence Day for those gringos that celebrate it, and Happy Sunday for those that don't!
  16. Yeah, thank you very much! I actually really wanted the town folks and your photos show that they look pretty good, I’m just hoping that everybody shows up with noses and good details!
