  1. Good mix there... I actually meant to go through my collection and do this too last month, but got caught up in convention stuffs. Though, I would definitely have to add Type O Negative - Black No. 1. They even say "Happy Halloween" in the lyrics. Then again, their song Be My Druidess is good too. And silly me, let's not forget Hallow's Eve. You'll have to excuse me...I'm a fool for their cheesy gothy sound. I'll go sit back down now. Edit: Now that I think of it, Be My Druidess probably wouldn't be appropriate for all parties. It all depends upon the age group and genre of the crowd. ;)
  2. Hi again! I do believe I was the gal that hosted this particular Paint and Take. Good to see ya on the forums! I really liked this mini a lot and let me say that he painted it a lot faster than I ever could on any mini AND it turned out great. I wish I could do that.
  3. Well, Geek.kon came and went but not without being a smashing hit for a first year con. Attendance was expected to be around 400-600, yet it had 1000 walkins plus 600 pre-registered geeks show up, and that was just Saturday! The official head count topped out at 1800 for both days of the con. The local Madison station's coverage even made it to CNN on Sunday morning. Whoot! Thank you for anyone that showed up to my Warlord demo. Everyone seemed to have such a blast playing the game that it was more than a joy to teach it! If any new players stop by, just give me a buzz if you have any questions. I would be glad to help ya out. Here's a few shots of the setup before playing began. I was so busy all day, I never had time to take action shots
  4. Geek.Kon www.geekkon.net University of Wisconsin Humanities Building, 455 N. Park St. Madison, WI Room 2251 on Oct. 6th from 9 am to 12 pm and 1:30 pm to 10:00 pm Rumors have been escalating throughout Taltos of a desolate stretch of land where some say the very soil is cursed. A few stories say the region is haunted... others speak of foul magics... the worst suggest the area to be invested by the walking dead. Recently, an eyewitness report of a hunting party falling prey to lumbering undead made its way to Denelspire. Duke Gerard has asked a small group of Justicars to investigate this seemingly dark threat. As one of these Justicars, you must eliminate the evil that persists in this area before it's too late. Stop by Room 2251 on Oct 6th to try out a beginner's scenario of Warlord that will demonstrate the basic mechanics of the game while spreading spooky cheer in the spirit of Halloween. Feel free to PM me with any questions you may have. Hope to see you there!
  5. By the sounds of it, Spike, the map will not only be fixed but improved! The ability to jump to any location on the map to battle is very interesting and exciting. And if I'm reading correctly, it won't be a spontaneous jump...only allowed to move every few months. Perhaps this ability will be based on your number of points earned from previous battles? The more points you have, the farther you can travel? Color me intrigued. :) Thank you very much for working on this, Kit!!
  6. Thank you very much for taking the time to reply, Ed. Much appreciated. Zinzig: Hhmm, a DHL sign... *ponders* Don't tempt me ... I've gotta wrap up my Warlord gameboard for the coming convention. ;)
  7. I truly did not see anything wrong with making this for demos and advertisements. Getting the logo out there for BL members really shouldn't do any harm, I would think. I did contemplate keeping this to BL members only, but then thought it would probably be pushed out for being slightly "off-topic" ...of sorts. I haven't heard anything from Reaper on it yet, but if they ever wish the PDF to be gone, I would take it down in an instant, of course.
  8. Yeah, as kristof65 said the Foamies soft craft foam is harder to get in large sizes. I have seen some rolls listed in online craft stores, but since I already had tons of foamboard I went with that. The foamboard adds a nice rigidness to the sign. If made with Foamies, I'm sure it might need some type of backing to keep it up. Also, I wonder about warping of the Foamies since the large kind is on a roll. I've only purchased the smaller sheet sizes before, so I have no clue how it looks off of a roll. Edit: Silly me... I should probably give links to those online stores here, in case someone wants to give the Foamies a try: http://www.sunshinecrafts.com/dept_view.ph...ROLL&Page=1 http://www.stainedglassoriginals.com/kidsc...foamsheets.html I've never purchased anything from these stores, so I can't say how the service is. And you would probably still want to paint the sign since not all colors are available. :\
  9. Alright, here's the finished PDF. I put some tips on the front page that should help out. http://home.centurytel.net/chesme/Warlodsigntemp.pdf
  10. Thank you all for your replies! I'll put up the PDF tonight when I have more time. I know a lot of other BL members would like to have a nice big-ish sign for their displays, so I thought I would offer some help. I really wanted it to be a bit bigger, but sized it so it could fit on one common sheet of foamboard. I do have plans to do a general Reaper Miniatures one too for my Paint and Take, but time might not allow that to get done. Yep, just three layers of painted foamboard on top of each other. Simple, yet very effective. I'll right it up tonight with the PDF. :) Sorry to hear that ... though, perhaps that means you should buy it.
  11. I wanted to share a sign I made for my upcoming convention demo at Geek.kon in October. I made it with foamboard, cut with an Xacto knife and painted with apple barrel paints. If I remember correctly, this is 29 inches long. I do have a template I can share if anyone else is interested (and if Reaper doesn't mind), though it does take a lot of patience to cut this thing out. Bad picture, I know... I can take better ones tomorrow if anyone wants.
  12. Once again, I am still working on it. So far, I am the only one that is working on all the articles and putting it up on the web. I did have one or two other people offer help, but they have sort of disappeared. I have a feeling they got busy with every day life, which is totally understandable. So, again, it's just me and writing articles is not one of my strongest points. I'm wrapping up the Beginner's Guide, after losing the first one in a deletion error from laptop to home PC. >_< But I do need some experienced players to get opinions and proof read it for clarity. Again, I'm asking anyone who might be interested in writing/proofreading to contact me or post here, but please only do so if you can truly commit some time to help. I don't always have every night free either, but I really do need committed help. As you can see, with just me working it is taking a while to get things done. It would be wonderful to get a few more people on board so I can get this stuck ball rolling. And truly, sometimes I just need other heads to bounce ideas off of to get me motivated to move faster.
  13. Welcome back to Warlord! Since you are coming back from a while ago, I would recommend starting out with a force of 500 or 750 points to get a hold of the newest game changes. The model count in an average 500 point game seems to be around 10-12 (varies per army build and faction, of course), so it's a small force that won't hit the pocket book too hard. I've seen a typical game run from 1000 to 1501 points, but truly, you can play at whatever point cost you and your opponent feel comfortable with. I personally play Reptus: first because of the awesome sculpts, then I found out I liked how they played. They are a decently hard hitting army with a good overall Defense Value, which means they stick around longer to be able to hit again. ;) That, and River Trolls rock. For more faction ideas, I would recommend taking a look at this forum thread: http://www.reapermini.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=27496 Hope this helps!
  14. I use a printer's drawer too and I love it. You can check out ebay right now and find a few listed that are pretty cheap ($10.00 - 25.00). I noticed that some antique shops really over price them, though.
  15. Lately, while I work I've been watching more dvd series vs. listening to music, which is very odd for me since I adore my cds. Yes, I heart music. I go in waves of what I want to hear, so now when I have had the time for music it has been: Oingo Boingo, Nick Cave, Frank Black (with and without The Catholics), Erasure, Mozart, Eleni Mandell, The Aquabats, Cake I don't own an mp3 player (other than my PC) so I usually listen to multiple cds of the same artist. I would like an mp3 player, but I know I would be very disappointed because I couldn't put my whole music collection on it. ;) "I have to choose!?! bleh"
  16. Has this been implemented yet? I'm sure the printed version has not made it to the final stages, but are the newly purchased rulebooks bundled with any type of the RC2007 doc?
  17. That is what I do, but it's with this: http://www.elmers.com/images/line_art/E1367_tmb_photo.jpg Elmer's Carpenter's Wood Glue Pen I looooooove this thing. It has a small detail point on one end and a flat, "spreading" point on the other. I would highly recommend picking it up, even if it's just to refill it with a heavier duty glue.
  18. Good news! They do that already, Fruggs. :) They are on the very last two pages of the cards: http://www.reapermini.com/store/customer/h...=91&page=20 *edit* Unless this was just added today, though I really remember seeing them before in the online store.
  19. Well, I'm not sure if I'm adding much to this but here's sort of a close up look at a replica of the King Kong armature http://www.sideshowtoy.com/cgi-bin/categor...?item=7181#jpgs Though not Harryhausen, it is by another stop-motion pioneer Willis O'Brien. It's pretty much all based on the same principal. Yes, it is a replica but it's fine tuned down to the tiniest detail to match the original (which, oddly enough, was rescued from a dumpster after filming the 1933 classic).
  20. I also I think it looks very good for a first attempt. Congrats! The one thing that really jumps out at me is you seem to have gotten a great hang of smoothing the greenstuff, which can be very difficult for beginners. I haven't done much more than this, but here are my first attempts from years back: This is really the FIRST first... it's based off of an NPC called "The Post" from the game Planescape: Torment. He's pretty much a zombie that is there to direct you to where you want to go (and people use him like a sign post, tacking on notes and adverts). These are of a dwarf character I played for a while. Unfortunately, I never finished him... I have since ripped him apart to see how easily greenstuff damages after curing.
  21. Well, look at that... celebrating independence for the US AND Reaper's anniversary! What a day... From the bottom of my hobby-heart: thanks for all the great times, Reaper. If I had realized it was the big 15th, I would have baked you a cake... or painted a pewter cake in the very least. I'll just have to settle for playing a dedicated round of Warlord. Here's to all of you!
  22. That's because it's not done yet, Spike. ;) I'm still working on filling up the sections but it's mostly just me, so it's going to take a while. Don't worry, I'll make it known exactly when the site actually gets a full launch.
  23. I felt my spider-sense tingling.. I hope the site will eventually cover some interesting and useful ground. But first, the basics have to go in... which are still being worked on. If anyone has any ideas or would like to see something specific on warlordgamer.com, don't hesitate to ask. I'm open to all suggestions.... just shoot me a PM.
