  1. We got ours and are very pleased with the sculpts. I just wish we had had enough money to buy (and to e to paint) all of their earlier sculpts as well.
  2. I am a big fan of slow zombies both in my gaming as well as in the various mediums of fiction. Not that fast zombies (ghouls/feral vampires/whatever) do not have a place… I like them too just for different reasons, for a different atmosphere in a game or movie. What do you think? Which do you prefer? Which game or rules best typifies relentless plodding doom rather than manic frenzy? You can read more of my thoughts on this topic on my blog… https://thegrumpygnome.home.blog/2022/01/07/walking-dead-world-beyond-really-irked-me-warning-rant-with-spoilers/ … but really here I am curious about your ideas on the gaming specifics of zombie post-apoc and how I might best get the gaming experience I want.
  3. My latest update for the curious… https://thegrumpygnome.home.blog/2022/01/02/and-so-it-begins/ TLDR: Wishing you all a brilliant 2022!
  4. Mrs. GG and I recently had a small problem with out Christas order. Reaper Customer Service did an excellent job of resolving it even during the holiday itself. Nicely done and much appreciated. It makes it much easier to recommend Reaper to others. Have a great 2022!
  5. I am all for more Reaper terrain. Sure other companies cover a lot of terrain options but Reaper can bring the visions of different artists to life doing things with more character than just another treasure chest or barrel. The excellent Brinewind terrain in the Bones 5 Kickstarter comes to mind. Sure there are barrels… but there is also so much more. I am so glad we backed Bones 5 and eagerly await Bones 6…. more boats please, especially “Eastern themed”! Discrepancies between HO gauge, N gauge, 1/48, 1/50, 1/56, 28mm, heroic 28mm, 32mm really are frustrating but I do not see a way around having to deal with that. I am constantly surprised by the inconsistent scale of Reaper figures but I tend to find a way to work with it.
  6. Thanks! I have had a good Christmas and you have as well. I checked my photos, they are all working for me so I am not sure what is broken or how to fix it, sorry.
  7. Thanks for the kind words folks, it is appreciated. My poor photography skills do no favors for the minis, they look much less glossy in person.
  8. These should make fine thugs for our Frostgrave games, lots of character in the sculpts.
  9. Later than usual but another update with lots of photos and news…. https://thegrumpygnome.home.blog/2021/12/24/better-late-than-never/ I would love to hear your feedback!
  10. Well that is really the trick, deciding what I want to do most. Getting the most “bang for my buck” is a big part of it and that means trying to be creative with genre and setting. I can not build and store and endless selection of terrain. I am pretty committed to Chain of Command as it scratches the platoon operations itch but otherwise I am pretty open to various options.
  11. Mrs. GG has been reluctant to volunteer for these games. Her interests are more pre-20th Century historical fantasy. However she has said that she will try to keep an open mind and if I pitch an interesting enough concept she may try it. However, at this stage I am figuring it will most likely be solo gaming for this project.
  12. I have just written a lengthy blog post asking the question… what new genre should I do now that I have won some auctions with some 20th Century miniatures and vehicles… https://thegrumpygnomehome.wordpress.com/wp-admin/post.php?post=4823&action=edit World War 2? Weird War 2? Atomicpunk/Dieselpunk Fallout? Worldwar (Alien Lizardfolk invasion) Something else?
  13. I really like the blue and white color theme you chose. Great work!
  14. It would be nice to be able to order it from the EU hub with the rest of our Christmas order but I guess that is not to be. Thanks for answering.
  15. It is still an interesting book, it would be nice to learn more about the Savage Coast. Does this only ship from the US? I can not find it on the EU site.
  16. Doh! I was clearly confused. Sorry!
  17. And there was much rejoicing! https://www.reapermini.com/search/25012 Edit: Is this available to ship to the EU from the UK or do I need to order it from the US webpage?
  18. Fair points both. It just frustrates the scale modeler in me. The engagement ranges look out of scale to my eye. And as you say, not just this game. Ranges helped ruin Bolt Action for me. And sadly, you will likely spend more time shooting at other humans than monsters if you play the main focus of The Silver Bayonet as currently written.
  19. So it has taken longer than I expected but I have finally written my first impressions of The Silver Bayonet and the miniatures from the pre-order. Bear in mind this is from reading the book and watching folks play on YouTube rather than playing a game myself, so take what I say with a pinch of salt. https://thegrumpygnome.home.blog/2021/11/30/the-silver-bayonet-first-impressions/ TLDR: The game needs more work, it feels unfinished at this point, but the miniatures are brilliant.
  20. Mrs. GG and I do not normally support STL campaigns as we do not have a 3d printer… yet. However we did back Printable Scenery‘s Hagglethorn Hollow as we love the design aesthetics of Johnny Fraser-Allan. So it looks like we will be backing Rise of the Halflings as well. Mrs. GG loves the Halfling forest architecture and I love the Wizardry Steampunk City architecture. We really need to get into 3d printing one day.
  21. Our latest update… this time focusing on a big game of Frostgrave using DF caverns and burrows…. https://thegrumpygnome.home.blog/2021/11/19/we-few-we-happy-few/
  22. Personally I would say get a late pledge in now. Turn around from pledge to delivery was only a couple of weeks. The next Rampart KS has been postponed until January and while you can often get stuff from earlier Kickstarter campaigns in their latest Kickstarter it is not always at as low a price.
