  1. True 20, Savage Worlds...hmmm, maybe i'll poke around abit, and see whazzup... oh, i RECLAIMED my old tag at WotC and was able to get in the DnD Insider....err, they are beign cryptic on 4th ed content, but it sounds like they are heading on the same road they are now, with a few things to freshen up. also, i say the four classes thing won'rt last long: expect to see monks, barbarians, and bards released in a supplement you can buy to get thsoe classes... money scheme, if you ask me!! oh well, True roleplayers are non-conformist socialites! so, dont expect me to conform....
  2. I would have looked at the previews had WotC not DITCHED my account!!!! argh! i gotta be someone other than matsumoto!!! My $.02: if it as dumbed down as Saga Edition SWRPG, i'll wait my sweet damn time. if it actually improves the system, i'll go with it, but by no means jump in with both feet. Then again, i'm still looking for an Original DnD Rules Cyclopedia for less than 30 bucks! (that, or a complete set of original boxes for les than 40! good luck, matthew!) me? i'm still playing L5R RPG as my primary game system...we've followers here!
  3. a ton, actually. Foremost, i wish to be an Artist/Writer, so i do plenty of both. mostly i'm an Ink w/ Colors of some type illustrator, but i have begun the move to full digital... word up to my fellow artists. I'm very Academic...My absolute favorite topics of study are Aviation (esp. Military) and History (again, military focus), though psychology, current events/pol-sci, and earth-sciences are not far behind. Books. if i buy books, most likely they are reference or gaming....occasional fiction does occur. Full Gamer here! I RPG's, CCG's, Board, Video...i would like to do Alternate Reality gaming, but that would be a stretch to me I've done Amtgard/Dagohir/ Limited LARP/SCA...even been to one civil war re-enactment as an assistant behind the scenes... I've a ton of music and i love it...I've posted on the lines of taste before though, so in short i'll say Electronic and Orchestral Musics top my list...including world-culture music. Asian Samurai and Kung fu movies. who would have guessed? War and Historical epic Movies. I Hike. a lot. This city i live in is surrounded by a low mnt. range, and i've climbed/hiked every large peak in the vicinity. (small fry i don't play collector with) I scenic walk, so i can think n' generate ideas 'normal' social activities fill my slots as well. i date accepting women, go to movies with a posse, occasionally hit clubs or bars (not really my thing, but it's social) oh, and i 'fight' as well...technically. any game that increases my sim conflict experience is a good thing.....heck, i go paintballing with my brother tomorrow...
  4. like i thought, 'twas photo skill that gives murakumo his hard-to-crack shell! keep at it murakumo, you will soon discover the path....
  5. Whos' yo daddy, Whos' yo daddy??? *splock!* *HISSSS!!!* aaarrhhh!!!!
  6. there are all kinds of FLGS...and do they differ.... the unfriendlies are vastly different...our local champion, Escape Games, fell under when the legendary Walt Mecham sold it to some ***** self interested tool-head who used the dealership to max out his GW collection at wholesale. i was gonna throw 200 dolars of reaper orders his way (warlord had just gotten momentum), but he woudn't even front an attempt....the ****** ***** ****!! yeah. say the least, the hard part IM(NS)HO is finding the freindly. we miss you, Walt! My Bragging Rights: Blackstone Hobbies, Dixon TN. a very fine store, but made my mother hate what i loved. scars still remain...at least i got into historical wargamming early, despite the hippie queen's attempts... O-Zone Comics, Pocatello ID. gave a nod to RPG and Magic, but when L5R came out, i was hooked....gaming wasn't for them... Escape Games, Poca ID: the long running men-of-men's store. Walt was cool, but hired the roughest support. i remeber when i told some fools that GW paint jobs were representationaly inaccurate, and they asked me who i was to shoot down GW...(Beck, it's been 9 years, you had better have gotten good!) Vostro Passione Hobbies, Chubbuck ID: definitely a POS. the store did have the coolest manager who would open the store's backroom past hours for 8-to-4 am game romps! Dedros, you are still the man, too bad the store sucked.... A Street games, Idaho falls, ID: the present Imperial gamestore, albeit 54 miles away from me house! these guys have a healthy store...it will soon be longer running than Escapes.... Excalibur games, Idaho falls, ID A Street's closet-operation competition. they offer a discount, but it's cash only...*sigh* Empire Comics, Poca, ID: they run hero clix and magic...were it not for Anachronism and Halo Clix i would be just an occasional passing wind. John is very cool, and is slowly reaching local legend status and our brand newest!... Black Tower games, Blackfoot, ID: too new to tell, at least he looks like he's got direction.... i've been in the sticks too long....
  7. dehydrated water! yes!!! can i bottle it and sell it to them in special vogue containers for 5$ a gallon??? like i said, genetic drift more likely than split evolution. hate to say it, but the THEORY of evolution needs at least one other theory to stand up solidly, as with any scientific theory or being with legs... y'know, human genetic modification has an interest of mine for a long time. can i be re-tooled to live longer? can i get fangs, or breathe in shallow water? can i auto-tan in blazing sun and go pasty in arctic environs? beign able to regrow lost fingers like lizards can tails would rock, as would dense muscle and a thicker hide... but all that doesn't come about from screwing into existence... that's eugenics. eugenics doesn't affect humans so much it can create superhumans...the best our good friends the nazi mad scientists would get is "tall, blonde, and has alot of body maintenence required so all that muscle doesn't fall slack..." hardly a superhuman. (besides, if i wanted to eugenize smart combat bad a$$es i'd go with Southern Africans, Spartans, and Islanders. Maybe add Norse if the Zulu types didn't already have the same traits...then you raise them in hardcore military academies with a wide and advanced curriculum. you can train someone to be smart, that isnt genetic, it's in the childhood and the society....)
  8. the sad thing is, i think this guy has some bouyancy... take into account alot of very moralistic and excessively intelligent folk actually tend to fall off the genetic map unless "properly motivated".... thus, count elitism by genetics out, unless way super rare... (unless a certain ethnicity decides to become a new master race....*shivers in fear*) take into account there are plenty of Men and Women wtih a solely hormonal disposition who will take all comers regardless, fine or easy.... take into account US and EU culture places emphasis on sex as an acquisitory collectible pleasure as opposed to an actuall breeingy process with responsibility and consequences, which, in reality, is regarded as a secondary or mature form of the pleasure function. then there are those awesome and rare individuals who are very picky yet also have refined taste...they are less likely to create the uber race as opposed to preserve their genetic purity. ...but they are rare indeed and are often touted as beign racist since they don't breed with just anybody.... in the next 1000-3000 years we'll most likely have the following: Asiatic Peoples Arabic peoples Hindu peoples Eastern European Indigenous African Indigenous American and European Troglodytes American and European purestrains. Hispanic Peoples (they get my vote if it comes down to breeding/racial war. sorry.) VERY SUPER RARE OLD SCHOOL PEOPLES, like natives or the maori *sigh* and i like the maori...very inspiring folk sad side commentary: (take this as it's said. i have plenty of friends in this category and mean no negative racial comment.) Some Native Americans are slowly turning into caucasians. though i know those who at least try to hold on to their heritage, genetic or otherwise, others have decided to merge genes with their former conquerors. i get thrown off by pale people with thin features callign themselves "native" y'know, before Unca' Sam introduced them to welfare-on-the-rez living, they were awesome Conan-like folk: robust without being goblins...i see the old photo's and paintign and i feel the loss of somethign unique sad that the last vestige is melting away i blame the older sexuality portrayal in the entertainment media. whitey is hottie. be a blonde slut and reproduce. argh!!! (didja know anorexia became a plague among samoan women after the introduction of MTV???) (it's true, look it up...) oh well, take it or leave it. i stand resolute...
  9. err, yeah. i think we need to see some camera skills here...but that's coming from a spawnling of a pro photographer.... take a bunch of different shots at different distances...see what range your camera likes to shoot at... use a neutral looking blue or grey background, though a darker color can be good if you use more than one light as far as backdrop, get creative. i used to use heavy colored art paper...now i use my CZ-75's box, as it has one helacool pattern on it that is both neutral grey and blue..with that kinda background, the focus point will be the miniature.... i also plan on re-structuring the box so it's the inside of a photo bay... yes! re-shoot, with all due purpose!!!
  10. Duh! i knew he was the sarge, i meant what i said in gestalt... nagendra are nagendra, they can do an extra point of damage, and force an extra tough save...they are good, but i like more choppy-choppy....
  11. Corvus Belli is imported from spain. i have actually not checked their 15's out, but their fantasy figures are on the higher end of the scale...or just scan the infinity prices... love to spend the cash....
  12. GAN-HOR ARE IN THA HOWZ!!!! hey, check out the previews...we get a new flying reptus!!! BwaHahahahahahaah!!! he looks good, will haveta pick up those...as they are quite better than i expected.
  13. japanese samurai armies have a very similar army unity easy-shot: all the ashigaru were given at the very least matching sashimono...though in the sengoku period giving every last man a matching uniform was not at all uncommon. samurai are unlike euro knights in that they chose to mix muted and bright colors for maximum effect, and usually had some idea of continuity with their army while maintaining uniqueness. for example, Honda Tadakatsu wore deep indigo to match his lord's indigo and blue, but he also used a lot of red lacing and gold trim, whereas Tokugawa use a lighter blue and grey... samurai armies thus tend to have ashigaru that look similar if not uniform. with somewhat matching samurai, and a lord of the army who can dress as he pleases... what gets fun is when muliple lords fight under a single greater lord's banner...now there you have a color bananza. painting such an army can be both greatly satisfying, and also a verified PITA.
  14. hey...cool to see some actual faces! you guys keep up the paintingness, mebbe we'll get to see some of the results in show off... fortune favor you all...
  15. i came up with the concept of units: you get 2 actions, as in a normal game, applicable to a hero model, vehicle, monster, or a unit. unit is a number or "troop" style models plus a leader type (my example: 9 Clone Troopers with a Clone Seargeant) also, heavy units (such as a trio of droideka or 4-pack of sith adepts) must have lesser units in the army to balance them out.... in this way, when a unit acts, it can do things a real unit could...like shoot up a jedi hero
  16. basing style also known as : standard historical basing. thanks for posting the technique, saint! BTW very cool mongol caphratcoi...most gamers think light bowmen a'horse when they think Mongols...but the Khans did have their heavy hammers.... those are also replica paint jobs if i do recall...are they a specific unit?
  17. Ironworker, good show!!! let me say i've become an online buyer becasue the average idaho city is a drollpit of economic fallout..the only economy we have here is rich people buying property and keeping construction folk in business! the art community in pocatello is infested by hippie-types, and the rest of Idaho by naturalists who could do better as wildlife photographers (something i could do in a split!...should i wish) our only game store is in Idaho falls, 48 miles over fields from my present position, the only other one beign a small-time store in Rupert (which i don't even know where to find...where's me map?...) (BTW: A Street, you rock out!!!! hang in there!!!) the average town in this state is less than 1k in population and usually filled with rednecks or religiousites. gaming is a hard road here. especially since the shoshone casino uses that term for gambling. ergh! in Pocatello, the most liberal city, gaming is pretty trendy, as you can find gamers, but find someone who wants to play something other than 40k, DnD, or magic. or heroclix, ahem.... i've converted 4 or so to L5R...at least that is a start no one will do CAV...as anyone with taste for mechs pulls out classic BT. (or new mechwarrior clix.ergh!) Warlord has dropped to me, Ugluk, and his son. and guess how those battles play out? lemme say that gaming diversity in the US is determined by desire of population to do so... i like samurai and air combat, and historicals you like pulp and sci-fi... unless you're demographically positioned, it's gonna be tough to find 8 others who are.... Side Comments: Reaper isn't soulless, they are niche. but i will say i have definitely gone from being a reaperite to being mercenary..in the name of diversity mind you, not profits... hell, to put it straight, GW (yes i say this) isn't souless, but the soul it has is closer to a demon than a lovable human being... On the attitude of gamers and Companies: In my honest opinion, Americans Suck . we could have done something with ourselves after the cultural revolution of the 50's/60's as opposed to being typically ADD, Whiny, Lazy, and generally selfish. I've also discovered that despite the obvious "what you see on TV is not real" tons of us believe the mixed media message drivel...some even try to live like that, and end up with a life of chaos we could use a return to family names meaning something, or honorable achievements, or community and brotherhood without propaganda..actually caring for those we live with...those kind of folk get on the news in this country...the 98% rest of us watch cable and porn... let us be not decadent romans, but the ones that inspire thought and pride... America needs to find it's soul again...and feed it well... this is a good topic...
  18. On Dixon: yeah, i went back and looked at their (mostly concept art) gallery of samurai...ick. i guess i was fresh outta clan war and still needing mini's...but, yeah, i'm glad i've never bought one. though i will say their armor design is pretty on-target, though the men look like dough-men or mud elemental human wannabees. On TAG: y'know, given this i will allow a second opinion to be generated...though if they wanna do gempei, i'd love to see them pull off some charcaters...a Yosh|tsune and Benkei blister would be very cool...as would a taira clan cohort pack and a maku with Yoritomo... I, besides my fantasy L5R games, am a Sengoku Jidai gamer....that period is just way too damn much fun!!!! On Fukageshi: if anythign, japanese armor was individualized... i do beleive there was one helmet exapmle from the Mongol invasion period with fukageshi almost as big as the helm itself....but in sengoku Jidai, there actually was a "pattern" for "standard samurai armor", which given the non-industrialized and localized consructuion was sure to have details changable. on this, fukageshi were about 'cupped hand size' (depending on the hand) and usually kept to a 45 degree parabola, flush with base of helm-rim, and were oft extensions from the neck covering as opposed to seperate internal mounted pieces. Typing all this makes me realize i forgot half my nihon armor terms. back to school, matsu'....
  19. TAG? ok, i say samurai specifically...the make some hot other mini's... note: i'm speakign Sengoku Jidai armor here...if this is Gempei armor, many of the technical details can be discounted as far as armor goes... 1) the armor looks too blockish and flat. samurai armor has square segments, but anyone who's seen the stuff up close notices how everythign has a gentle curve and sometimes a lip...the TAG looks to me like they wear really cheap armor. 2)heads are a tad large, i say...even though they are supposed to be short asian guys. 3) helmets of the kabuto variety should look like some kinda metal ballcap with chopped visor...these guys wear rice bowls, no visor. likewise, what hapened to the fukageshi? they are suppoosed to flare between a 5-20 degree angle, and connect flush with the helm. these are a tad un-flush, and are flat in angle. Ok, i must say, scrolling through while double screening: their Sohei are f'in' HOT!!! very good sculpts there! 4)their peasant raincapes could use some body and fluff...they look like tatami.... 5) naginata look like long nagamaki. small deal there... i will give you this...they aren't bad miniatures... and i haven't looked at Dixon in ages, so my opinion of them may be aged with time...but i'd say i have a better deal with most other companies. Perry for absolutely sure knocks their socks off....
  20. yeah, i checked and here now come either completed deals or the late excuses!!! i was just wondering, as it is way past summer here in the north...we've snowed...twice!!! that, and i now live in dah ghetto! do your best, and ignore this rapscallion's complaints, all a ya!
  21. i buy the standard UPS style imitation wrap from the local Meyers, and then reinfoirce that with spare mini-blister foam. simple, and it works... if anythign , pay attention to the BOX!!! make sure it won't die upon contact with a hard surface after a 10 ft drop!!! luck w/ shipping...
  22. CAV paintjobs..i am actually glad to see these, for resasons metaphysically satisfying.... Funny you painted Nomads. As far as using 40k for Sci-fi...good show. The color scheme is simple, and effective. as i've said on GW, they can really make mini's, but i have'ta spit at the rules. good show both ways...and good luck in your games!
  23. "happy birthday to you! I know its a zoo, but you are the quikmeister, so have a good b-day too!!!!" "and many more!!!..."
  24. That'd be wargames foundry, i think...or is the whole blister yellow....i've forgotten? Dixon's heads are a bit to large, though they do have good sculpts for the price. all in all they are pretty OK TAG sucks like a...well, lemme just say that i don't like TAG and will not buy their product...until they upgrade their sculpting. To all of you , Thanks!!!
  25. YESSS!!!!!!! damon, you are the man! you deserve a high five! Now i know the scales... BTW, that kingsford looks not bad...never heard of them...are they still around, and how east to acquire are they?
