  1. I have a question about the "Fear the Whip" Rule. When do I say that I use the tighter command radius? At the start of the battle, during set up? Can I change the command radius during battle? Arcane
  2. That humongous British one, or that less humongous German one? I think, I lack here some vocabulary, I don`t quite understand - but I`m working for the german part of the company. And I think, that Qwyksilver had a very good point about the translation. I find it very irritating with Warmachine - nice to have a german translation, but you have a mix of german and english data cards and you have to remember to sets of stats. If there will ever be a german translation of the rule book, we shall leave this question finally to the guys doing this. Arcane
  3. I would have said no, can someone please answer this question?
  4. Well, I think, now it is time for apologies ("why I cannot do this") I`m working for an often named big gaming company and it would be against my working contract, if I would engage so much in the spreading of warlord. But they can`t tell me not to play it Arcane
  5. Hello, as far as I understand, you can use Defensive Magic only with the Spells, where it is said. These are in the moment Bolt and Dispel. But Prince Danithal has Defensive Magic and Mage 1/4. Bolt is Lvl 2, Dispel Lvl 3. Does the SA make no sense for Prince Danithal or do I understand some of the rules wrong? Or does Danithal has the SA for later use with spells yet to come? Arcane
  6. Hi, first, I think, we should avoid the old GW problem of making ever bigger and nastier monsters (or characters, for that). I have no playing experience yet, but making stronger and stronger monsters (dragons, putting trolls on Krung Beasts etc.) would reduce the role of infantry troops. Personally I like, that warlord is pretty much cliche. Everything is familiar. Dwarves are how I remember them, Elves are the same old guys I know from roleplaying etc. For me, this is an advantage. You don`t have to make exotic or bizarre unfamiliar backgrounds to make a good tabletop game. Crusaders should definitely have some cavalry. Speaking of cavalry: Myself, willing to play overlords, think the onyx chevaliers aren´t so good (being solos, they don`t strike at the same type, have only one attack and cost 75 points). Without them, there is only one solo (unique), I can take. Perhaps a solitaire, a slave hunter/bounty hunter type would fit. And perhaps some adepts, slave herders or the warbrides as adepts would be nice.
  7. I thougt, the GMW and the Battle Totem wouldn`t stack? Arcane
  8. Hello, to spread the game, I think it would be good, if reaper is present on the Spiel Essen (this year is perhaps a little late for it), but perhaps reaper wants to consider it for next year? Next to Games Workshop, Privateer Press with Warmachine and Rackham with Confrontation is present every year and they make games with new player. And these are the bigger companys. There are a lot more companies there to present their games. Spiel Essen is a big toy fair, which is visited by shop owner and gamers alike. Other great gaming companies look to work together with a german Shop as a german distributor for their game. I-Kore with Funtastic Games, Rackham with Morgenwelt, for example. Perhaps this is a possibility to better spread the game directly on the german market. Ok, I`m just a gamer, hoping, that his game will spread and I don`t know anything about marketing, costs oder anything else. It is just an idea. we german player can perhaps ask one of the great german onlineshops, if they want to give warlord more room and perhaps advertise it more in their newsletters. For example dragonworld, drachenhöhle, feenwald, gwindi, crazy achmed, etc. If they have a good sortiment and advertise it, it will probably attract new gamers. And we will be able to get the minis better. But Dragonworld, Drachenhöhle and Battlefield Berlin already have a good sortiment. Arcane
  9. I`m a geman player, too. I have the book for two weeks now, and yes I`ve read it. But I haven`t played yet and to be honest, I don`t know how to find players to play against. If there is a possibility to spread warlord in Germany, I would find it great. Arcane
  10. Thank you Bryan, to be honest, I posted this text there, too, but I was afraid, that no overlord would answer my questions. But I was wrong, Qwyksilver (no overlord player) and Storminator gave me great advice and many tips. Arcane
  11. Thank you very much, Qwyksilver and Storminator. Qwyksilver for already having answered a couple of my questions in this forum und and Storminator for breaking his silence and giving a looong answer to me. I helped a lot, I think, I will soon spend too much money on table top minis - again! Thanks again, Arcane
  12. Thank, that is a great help. Hello, I`m thinking about playing overlords for the main reason, they have the coolest looking grunts around. Sadly, the overlord players are not willing to tell their secrets about tactics and composition. But, having not played yet, I`m not sure, what is special about the overlords. I think the grunts are pretty basic and worth their cost. They are good. I guess, one advantage of overlords is their great number of elite and that the leaders can take a lot of them (the warlord can take three, the non-unigue captain can take two). But what troops rock. Is the golem cool? Are the cavalry good (I`m wondering about the lonely attack for 75 points - is cavalry, first strike etc. it worth?). Which elites are cool? Ymrilix is metioned a lot. I like moraia (looking great) but Arik and Balthon are looking good, too. Which leader are cool? I don`t like Ashcrypt and Iks because of their looks and I like Corvus and Andras, just because they are looking good and have the same style as the grunts. If there is no Overlord player willing to tell his secrets about tactics and force compositions, can tell anybody else about his experiences with (effective) overlords? Thanks Arcane
