  1. I started my account in 2006 to talk about Warlord and I haven't been on in years so I'm sure a lot has changed. I have a ton of Warlord minis, mostly necro and darkspawn, still in the package. I know you can't sell them here but can you trade them? I haven't played Warlord in a long time but I'd still like to paint minis as a hobby and painting, say, an elf is way more fun than painting an army of skeletons. I recently bought 3 figures from the reaper store (Caerwynn- Elven Hero, Valloa- Female Elf Thief, Bailey Silverbell- Dwarf) just so I'd have something interesting to paint. But yeah, if it's acceptable to trade please let me know. I didn't see anything about that listed anywhere.
  2. Glueing and pinning depends on the faction. Reptus have to be pieced together simply because of their strange shapes. Other factions with mostly humanoid figures don't typically need as much assembly. Just as a rule of thumb, if it has wings or if it's on a base larger than "standard", you'll probably need to glue something. As far as Rage Chronicles go, it doesn't completely replace the rulebook. You need to buy the rulebook and RC simply amends the rules as necessary. None of the faction books are a required purchase because RC contains all of the information they do with the exception of fluff. Hope that helps!
  3. Okay, so I can field a Merc captain as long as I have a faction captain regardless of whether or not I have a faction warlord, right?
  4. I'm a bit confused with the way that was worded. A warlord doesn't rank higher than itself, so is a mercenary warlord still not allowed?
  5. I guess I do use a lot of archers... hah
  6. Quick tip: Vysa has the same cost as a warrior but is better statwise. Instead of filling up Vysa's troop with whatever units you are going to use, make two smaller troops instead. You'll get two initiation (activation?) cards instead of one AND get a better value for your 30 pts. Just keep in mind that you'll need to follow the chain of command if you make too many small Vysa troops.
  7. Sorry if this is reviving an old thread, but I haven't been very active and thought that I'd help a fellow darkspawn player out. I'm only familiar with the old sculpts so if there are any newer ones that I'm not aware of, you'll have to forgive me. If you are looking for a pure female army, there is one female out of the three variant warrior sculpts. You may have to buy that one particular sculpt by itself multiple times for a decent amount of warriors. You might also consider modifying Vysa and using that as a warrior or an archer, but make sure that it's obviously different from the Vysa models that you will most likely be using as sgts. Another thing you might want to be aware of... there are no female sculpts for archers (that I have seen at least), and the archers are one of the selling points of the army. 30" range is not something to be taken lightly. You might have to use elven archers and paint them blue. Paintenders are all female, but there are no female broken fodder... another popular tactic in the DS army. Hope that helps!
  8. I only play Darkspawn (& Demonic Conclave), but I have a fair amount of Necropolis minis in case someone else wants to play. I've never used a Necropolis army though. Strange, yeah? They're not exactly the most popular army but they're pure evil and I love them for it.
  9. Darkspawn are my primary army, so that's pretty much all I'll be listing. A non-spell casting Darkspawn warlord DS calvary low cost, non unique spell caster grunts / adepts (they would have to be pretty cheap because of the high cost of spells unless they had an SA that either reduced spell costs or granted them innate spells) more demon grunts! more flying grunts! an archer model with poison arrows dare I say... a CLERIC?! (they worship demons and dark gods, right? that should be a form of divine power )
  10. If they don't make changes now, it will be REALLY hard to make changes later because everything will be affected in a large way.
  11. Reaper does an excellent job of providing us with cool looking minis, but seeing / using the same sculpts tends to get boring after awhile. Fortunately for us, Reaper also makes many other fantasy minis that can be used as proxies quite nicely. I've compiled a list of some good candidates for proxification (call Webster, I've found a new word!) for your own personal amusement. I've only briefly skimmed the DHL 3100s but if anyone is interested, I'll edit this post and add others later. Keep in mind that if you plan on using a lot of proxies, things may become very confusing since all sense of character recognition is gone... so try and keep things at a minimum and be sure to tell your enemies and allies what everything is supposed to represent BEFORE the game starts. 12. I'd like to see stats for new minis so we can proxy and test units out BEFORE they need to be revised, reprinted, etc. It'll add a bit of diversity to some of the smaller armies.
  13. It's been a long, long, looooong time since I've posted / read anything here at Reaper. Work, living situation, life, etc... you know how it is. And to make a long story short, I don't have a whole lot of money to spend right now, unfortunately. I have all of the Dark Spawn models except the Incubus and Imp (which I will probably refer to at some point as "the new models"). What I normally do is just buy a handful of models, and whatever models I make use of is "good for me"; anything extra just collects dust. I can't afford to do that currently, so I ask of you fellow Dark Spawn players, how many Incubus and conversely, how many imps can I realistically field in a 750, 1000, 1500, and 2000 pt army? I'd love to get back into the swing of things, but that probably won't happen until I move out of Florida and into North Carolina, so we'll see how that turns out.
  14. Well, I can see both sides of the disagreement. Reaper does try hard and puts out quality material. Hell, the only time I've ever had a problem with a mini, it was fixed promptly and shipped free. But some of our factions are hurting.
  15. I think I remember a female warrior or something, but it doesn't really matter what the footsoldiers look like, right? You can only be so cool when everything else on the field is kicking your arse.
