  1. I had a dream last night that the class schedule came out. There were several cooking classes being offered
  2. I've found ReaperCon to be very family-friendly. The first year I took my daughter, she was just under one year old. My husband wandered around the Con with her while I took classes and it worked out perfectly. Last year was a little tougher, because she didn't want to be held much, and we had to bail before the painting competition medals were handed out because she had a meltdown the night before. I imagine this year to be tougher still, as she's almost three and we now have a 4-month-old, too. Leaving the 3-year-old with Nanna is one option we're considering! Be sure to check out Reaper at CafePress. There's not much that's cuter than a toddler in a Reaper shirt:
  3. Welcome! You're going to love it here! Hope to see some of your minis soon
  4. How 'bout a class covering how to properly and effectively use inks?
  5. I've coveted AB's mixer for a long time (and now I covet yours). Congratulations!

    Ferrari Sophie

Very clever (and a nice paint job, too)!

    Jolie Scribe

Very nice! The hair and skin on Olivia are particularly well done.
  8. Mine is to be more active on this board, get to know everyone a little better, and be able to put more faces to names at ReaperCon
  9. This is a perfect example of why I was so excited to get a seat in your "Painting Faces" class at ReaperCon last year. Brilliant!
  10. That's not a dumb question! I use MiniNatur grass from Scenic Express. It comes in little clumps and is available in different sizes and colors.
  11. This is my first mini since my 4 month pregnancy hiatus. I painted him as a Christmas gift for my brother-in-law, who is a fan of the Alatriste novels by Arturo Pérez-Reverte. My husband (who sometimes lurks around here as "Taliesin") did the conversion using a GW Aragorn and the hat and sword from Reaper's Olivia Musketeer (#03012). I'm not sure where the pistol came from, but I'm fairly certain it's from a Reaper mini. I chose the color palette based on Viggo Mortensen's portrayal of Alatriste (which is also why the Aragorn mini worked nicely).
  12. Let me throw a "thank you" in here, too, to everyone who voted for me & to Reaper for having the contest. This is always a fun one! I'd also like to say that Jay's "Taking Candy from a Baby" was my favorite entry. That was really clever!
  13. I won't be able to make November's meeting, but I'm definitely going to try to make it once things calm down a bit at home. Great idea!
  14. I'm with you there. I don't participate and I don't want my daughters to grow up thinking that Thanksgiving is just a lead in to Christmas sales. I also don't want them to expect me to wait in line before dawn for whatever toy is popular that year - that ain't gonna happen.
  15. They are cuties!! Here's my little viking, Lórien, and her new sister, Morgan:
  16. Nothing new from me, but I've never entered this one in a competition. She has a mask, thus making her Halloweenish "Moon Over Bourbon Street" - Sophie the Succubus leaving the Halloween ball.
  17. My latest miniature...Morgan Magdalena, born 10/09/09
  18. I thought the exact same thing after seeing Blair Witch in the theater, but I actually liked it a lot better after some time had passed and I viewed it at home. Still didn't live up to the hype, but I didn't think it was so horrible after all. My biggest disappointment was Bram Stoker's Dracula. There was so much potential there: Francis Ford Coppola, Gary Oldman, Anthony Hopkins...but, they turned it into a love story and threw Keanu Reeves and Winona Ryder into the mix. Maybe if they hadn't called it "Bram Stoker's Dracula", it wouldn't have bugged me so much. Stoker's Dracula was an evil fiend, not a romantic.

    Hello

Welcome! You've picked a great place to come for critiques and advice. The people here offer honest, constructive criticism without being completely brutal. There are also many great tutorial articles that I think you'll find very beneficial
  20. Lovely! Would you be willing to share your recipe for her skin color?
  21. As you should be! I always admire the subtleness of your work. The freehand, the expressiveness, the color palette... everything just works so nicely together. I have to admit I'm a bit jealous of sculptor/painters. I've been searching for just the right mini for an RPG character, and haven't had much luck. Must be nice to create exactly what you need
  22. I'm with you. My sister and I had all the Charlie's Angels dolls & Charlie's Angels lunch boxes. A sad day, indeed.

Her skin tone is really, really nice. Well done!
