  1. Morning Jon,

I've noticed an issue in a quick scan of the Errata.  In the clarification- 'Using a Cruise Missile' and toward the end of the first paragraph looks like the description is missing the word 'more' before the word 'models' as the text reads -

...A player must also have one or models with the SA or Upgrade: FIST active on the game board...

(If this is the case then does this mean there will have to be an Errata to the Errata? or will there still just be the Errata?)  ::):

  2. If you go to the Hawk Wargames site and click on Downloads at the top of the home page you will find a wealth of 10mm printable Building and Road templates.  Just the right size for all things CAV! :-)

  3. On the subject of the reorder from China..., my shipment to the UK was short various units but I had one of the 'we know its short' slips in the box so no issue there. What concerns me is whether or not the completion shipment when its sent will have a zero customs value or not?  Having already paid £90+ of Customs Duty, VAT, (and the £8 'admin' fee charged by the... 'persons of dubious parentage'... at Parcelforce) for the main shipment I'm rather reluctant to be caught with repeat charges when the completion arrives because the shipment was split.  I've placed a comment about this on Kickstarter 3-4 weeks ago but no definitive response has been forthcoming.  Can you comment/clear this up?

As for the main topic here - Wave 2 -  I do have patience*

    * as long as it's given to me NOW!  ::D:

  4. it just dawned on me (though I'm sure other people have suggested this) but, it seems like CAV would be perfect to use the spin-wheel mechanism for representing the damage track (similar to the heroclicks base or other slew of board games)

or a see-through rubber band to slide around and track damage

hmm not sure i'm explaining it right.

    Waaaaaayyy ahead of you.

Pics of our solution soonâ„¢...   ::P:

  5. On another point with these Friday features, although I'm not so keen on the Dymo like titles on the stat cards, I'm really liking the artwork of the units themselves.

Kudos to whomsoever is involved in production/authorising production/producing them!

More please - soon as you can - no pressure - name the artist(s) so appropriate honours can be assigned - etc., etc., etc., :-)

  6. N Gauge buildings (Kato Dio Town) is one I use (when I can get them cheap enough).

DZC buildings Paper or Resin are perfect (the latter are really still made of gold however and will put significant holes in your wallet), there are also some options for nice flat-pack MDF 10m terrain buildings appearing on eBay, these often are found with complete and collapsed forms..

  7. For myself, I'm planning to use DZC Shaltari as Psyros, they're kind of close-ish to the look outlined in JOR1 - just need to create some kind of stats for them.

I also hope that CAVBOSS might have them in the back of his mind for future CAV antagonists.

  8.  The Despot hull is set to 44 mm when it goes to Bones. That's what you get come hell or high-water. I now return you to your regular programming.

PS No other figure has been scaled and wont till Im getting them ready for the plastic mold makers. Im not doing that till I know which ones I need to.

Awwwww, Now I've got to buy some more Tanks... :-)

Great CAVBOSS, I look forward to CAV:SO tanks more in scale with their counterpart walking mayhem machines.

  9.

I was just kidding around. Except for the implied fanboyism. I am totally a squealing fanboy.

    *squeals*

    *throws pants at JBR*

Am I the only one who finds this mildly disturbing?

Maybe, but I think the more disturbing question is whether JBR caught them...

  10. It's like seeing the Las Vegas Eiffel tower being used as a historical reference point when you know the real thing is over in Paris.

    Paris?   There's one in PARIS???

When the hell did that happen? ::D:

  11. PS.  I thought the Despot looked a bit small to be in scale in the comparison shot!  Thanks be the the design god that is Mr JBR, for putting that right.  (You may preen, flash dazzling smile, etc, etc :-) )

  12. I seem to remember expressing a view on aircraft sizing in another thread here (can't find it at the moment though) To re-iterate I proposed the new line do pretty much what the current metal line does in having two sizes,  True Scale for those who want them and a smaller scale for those that want 'two-packs' of aircraft and don't mind about the look.

Let's face it, even though CAV is a combined arms game, most of us will be larging it round the battlefield in...  what is the term used by Eric C Smith so eloquently?  Ah Yes; "BIG STOMPY ROBOTS", rather than flying machines.

My preference?  - True Scale - but that said, I do like the smaller scale stuff (though I think the current metal line is just a bit too small), as its small enough to fit with other manufacturers lines (like BT) but there are obvious economic issues involved in supporting two lines which would have to be considered.

  13. I'm going for another angle here.

Honestly Big is good - I like the 'keeping things in scale format' especially when models are close together as it's great for consistency but I must confess I remain keen on the smaller scale of some of the aircraft from the previous CAV incarnations and using them in situations when the craft are in modes that only get a brief look at the battlefield.  The Hedgehog and Ghast models are a good example of this. When in the air crossing the battlefield the small scale model is great, but coming to ground to 'do their business' or even just to be an objective on the play area, big scale is a winner.

How about doing what's been in place already and produce them at the 2 different scales and let gamers take their choice of how to play them?

  15. Yo Jon,

You know this is going to cause consternation of lovers/haters but it might be an idea to publish the list of what's gone since you're obviously going to get 'feedback' on this list so why not 'in for a penny, in for a pound*' maybe... ::D:

My 1p** worth.  I think the Emperor mentioned in previous posts (from a year or so ago) could be improved by one very simple strategic change - leave it alone!  Call the new design a Shogun or something.  Leave my Emperor's alone!

    * Pound - British - proper money - worth more than yours per unit, stiff upper lip, what-ho, etc, etc.  eh what?

** p - UK penny - still worth more than yours - also goes through pocket linings faster!
