I had to have a D&C in April. Learning about the loss was horrible, although I'm doing ok now. I hope all your tests go well. Even though I just miscarried in April here we are in The beginning of October and I'm pregnant again. Hope this one sticks better than the last one. ;) Good luck!

ok. Thanks!

Color sequence? I started by base coating it black, then I used citadel color's red gore, and highlighted it up to a little white mixed in with pro paint's salamander orange. I hope that is what you meant... ^^;

This is the ranger that came with the lion mini I painted a while back. Her eyes are a bit messed up... But she came out pretty well other than that. The picture is not the greatest, but I returned this mini and the lion to their proper owner before I realized the picture was bad. :( At least you can get the gist of what I did to her.

Here we have one of the kids from the townsfolk: Children package. I'll be painting all of them to look like my children. This is the first one I completed. He didn't take me very long. This looks like our littlest child, Natsuo. His right eye is slightly messed up, but other than that I'm pretty happy with how he came out.

Well, I finally got pictures of the stuff that I've done lately. For starters I'll put up the lady from the townsfolk III package that I got. I had a lot of fun painting her. I can't find my dull coat, and so I had to use the shiny stuff that came with the painting kit I had gotten. So please forgive the shininess.

thank you for the compliments! Red is my favorite color, so unless the mini is for someone else, I tend to use the color a lot in painting.

Hahah, it does look like a long haired cat that was shaved! How funny! Yeah, the nose was something that I wasn't sure what to do with... Thank you for all the comments!

Thank you for the comments!

Yeah, most people here will tell you to stay as far away as possible from drybrushing. I personally use it as sparingly as possible. In the end it turned out really well.

I like her. Especially the base and the hair. Good job!

Ah yes. It is from the 03401: Aeris, Female Elf Ranger and Panther. I'll be painting the ranger next. Only she'll be a druid. Thanks for finding it for me! And of course, thank you for the comments!

Here we have the final one of the ones I've painted recently. I'm not as happy with her, honestly. She just didn't seem to want to cooperate, no matter what I was doing. It's a mini that represents my husband's character in our gaming campaign, so I wanted it to come out really well, but her face ended up bumpy and her clothes didn't highlight like I wanted it to. She'll probably take a swim in paint thinner in the future. For now, though, I'm done.

So, I couldn't find the mini in the reaper figure finder. I'm not even sure if it is a reaper or not. Someone in my gaming group wanted me to paint this as a lion, so that's what I tried to do. c&c welcome.

So, it's been forever since I've posted here. It's been about a year since I've even picked up a paintbrush. Life has been hectic. But, after we moved and got settled down I finally was able to find some time to paint again. I've done three minis in the last couple of weeks, and here's the first one I painted. I like how she turned out. Once I get some basing stuff I'll do more with her base, but for now I consider her done. c&c welcome.

Thank you for the comments. Yeah, the blue is a tiny bit flat. And there are parts on the NMM that aren't blended as well as I would have liked. And looking at the photo it does seem the shrubbery around his feet is a bit much. If my bro feels the same way he can always take the branches around his feet off. As far as the colors go, I wasn't able to take the pictures the way I like to. I had to use my mother-in-law's non macro camera with lighting from regular yellow light bulbs, instead of the real bulbs that have brighter, truer light. But, oh well. At least you can see the gist of the figure.

This was a wedding present for my brother that lives in Florida. It's only a month late, too. Comments welcome. I know there are parts that could have been blended better, but I had to rush on it slightly, so I couldn't be a perfectionist like I wanted to be. Oh well. And I think the white speck on the front of his blue cloth was lint. Did I mention I was feeling rushed?

Overall I think he's pretty good. I especially like the eyes and the freehand on the shield.

Thank you for all your compliments. I forgot to mention, though I don't know why this is, that the highlights on the model are actually brighter in person. For some reason the camera didn't catch the highlights like I wish it would have. Of course, trying to post anything when you've been up way later than you're used to probably isn't a good idea for remembering to put details in text. ^^; Oh well.

Here is the Angel that I just got done painting. She's the first of (hopefully) a long line of minis I'll be selling. Her dress annoyed the crud out of me. But overall I think she turned out well. A whole lot better than the last version I painted of her last year at about this time. Anyway, comments and crit welcome. Thanks for looking!

I did do a search, and nothing popped up that I could follow easily. The link you gave me was a big help. I'd seen that before but didn't know how or where to search for it. and thank you, Katie for the advice. Hopefully the mini I'm painting actually turns out decent, since she's one I'm planning to sell. Thanks again!

Ok. I thought I was doing an ok job on the mini I am painting, then my husband comes along and tells me that it looks like black and red stripes, and that the highlights aren't bright enough. I told him I don't want it to end up looking orange or pink, since it's supposed to be red. My question: How do you paint red? I need step by step. From basecoating and shadows to the brightest highlight. Thanks!
-
Thanks for the tip on the magnifying glass. I think for now it's more of an issue on keeping my hands steady, honestly. And as for the highlights on the raven... I guess it looks better in person, but the highlights are actually supposed to be red, because the sorceress that has this raven as a familiar is a fire sorceress, so I figured I'd go with a different color highlight than the usual. I was going for fantasy type realistic, not real life realistic. Now that I'm a better painter, though, I'd probably go back and put a lighter red highlight on top of the other highlights to make the red pop. Note that this was posted in January.

I really like this. I didn't notice any discrepancies in the NMM, and I really like the highlighting you did. I think it's funny, though, the I dunno what near the girl's head (it's in the upper left hand side of the stone circle in the top pic) looks amazingly similar to a hot dog. you know, just in case the cultists get hungry during their saiance. Anyway, great job!
