  1. Unfortunately that happens a lot with his stuff. He does some real pretty minis and then it is gone.
  2. If you can mount them somewhere secure you could use solder instead of metal. It will bend to the s-bend shape and hold in place as long as it is not supporting weight.
  3. Here is my finished tree of despair. The WIP photos can be found here: Build log It is painted with a mix of craft, GW, Reaper, and privateer paints. Finished with oils. Closeup of the Not Conan And Just becasue they are finished my living statues. They are magnatized for easy removal. I should have done dark metal with the oxidation but there you go. Plinths are painted using the toot here: Abaroths World Full WIP photos are found here: My Blog Hope you like.
  4. I did two applications of oils. The first came off a bit bright with just green and tan with some blues on the Not Conan for bruising. As you can see the green came up a bit green. I then toned it down with another application, this time of Burnt Umber. This will take a couple of days to set properly then I can seal and finish up the basing.
  5. You can use oil paint with white spirits (turpentine) to create fine washes and filters (read tints) for the base color. Here is an example on the base. The green tints are filtered over the dry brushed surface with the oil paint. It keeps the original color but tints it slightly. If you look up oil paints with fine scale modeling you will get a wealth of advice and techniques.
  6. I initially thought I would be posting this tomorrow due to light problems but I managed to get some clean shots. It is all ready for oils. Once the paint has had a couple of days to set I will start the oils. I will get some more photos posted then.
  7. Have not posted in yonks but since I have received my bones 4 shipment I decided to post my work on the tree of despair. After cleaning and puttying the gaps I pinned the vultures and not Conan in place. I then remove the ropes from not Conans wrists and added wound brass wires in their place. These were then linked to the knots at the bottom of the ropes on the ends of the branches. Other changes are changes in direction of some of the vultures heads. Other additions are skulls and bones from my bits box on the base along with sand for texture. Hope you like.
  8. Thank you so much. I had already placed an order so I could test this stuff out but had an oh ____ moment when I realized that I had not checked on whether it could be vulcanized or not. Thanks again. Snitchy sends.
  9. Sorry for bringing this one back from the dead but I am trying to get a simple question answered about this product and unfortunately my google-foo is weak. When you say "it sticks to vulcanized molds and needs additional handling" what do you mean? Does it stick to the mold after the vulcanization process? What additional handling does it need in this case? I have been at the internets for well over an hour trying to find out if it can be vulcanized. Any help is appreciated. Snitchy sends.
  10. Would I like an update? It would be nice, kind of like having a sunny day is nice. If I do not get one I will not loose sleep over it. Will this make me wary about purchasing from Reaper again? Not so much. I am much more concerned about a company that does not ship/contact the customer for a single purchase. 14,000 plus purchases is a bit different. A post a month is more than sufficient. Especially when posting that we sent out 100 today and only have X amount to go, takes time away from them packing up the shipments. Snitchy sends.
  11. Out of your ears and nose huh? What you don't understand is... You get those at 40 no matter what you do. Just like the back hair at 30. Snitchy sends.
  12. Have there been any updates as to where they are in the shipping process. Last I heard it was Vampire + small stuff. I have quickly checked the rest of this post and did not see anything. I know they are stopped for Reaper con but IwannaIwannaIwanna my bones. Snitchy sends.
  13. I understand your comments to a point. Many of the people who are starting into this hobby are not adults, they are kids. It takes them more time, money and effort to get a good base to start from. I would never discourage someone from using craft paints or what they have on hand to start and then move into the more expensive products. It is up to the individual and they can make the decision as to where they move from there. Encouraging someone to move out of a hobby is not the best way to foster more enthusiasm for that hobby. I started in 1982 with enamel model paints and moved on from there. If some aspires to paint better they will do what is necessary to attain that goal. Sorry your post about the expense of the hobby came off as a bit smarmy. My two cents. Snitchy sends.
  14. Hey.. I have a bit of road rash that you can rub some salt into to make me feel better about you getting your bones! Mine have not even shipped!! Chunter..Chunter......Chunter...... Glad you got your bones. I am just waiting patiently for the unknown Christmas date that I receive mine. Snitchy sends.
  15. or even thirty 1 HD rust monster hatchlings. Snitchy sends.
  16. So, before you ask again where exactly in the process Reaper is in shipping the orders, remember these few things: 1. Your Bones are coming. You will get them when you get them, and not a moment sooner. 2. You will get notified (probably, it seems) by email when your shipment has been sent. 3. Nothing you can say or do (short of picking up the parts of your pledge that can be picked up) will get you your Bones any faster. 4. Don't be the kid asking "are we there yet?". Soooooo....... Are my bones shipped yet?????? Snitchy sends
  17. Darn you.... Darn you to heck!!!! I am so jealous. Snitchy sends.
  18. Your lucky. I am going to have to bring the bones with me when I finally sell my house and move. I am glad I picked up two figure cases with my order. Snitchy sends. Good luck with the sale. We moved last June. The boxes in the background are my "still to be unpacked" basing materials.... Thanks for the well wishes but the sale is only part of it. I am waiting for my visa yet. Wife wanted to go back home to the UK and she has yet to find a job making enough money to apply. I am hoping her interview next week will net something good. Nice thing is that I will still be in the house when the Bones arrive. Snitchy sends.

  20. You could instant mold the face. That way you could find an acceptable face and head without wasting a figure or ordering special heads. My two cents. Snitchy sends.
  21. In the military we just put a spoon full of instant coffee on the tongue and downed a regular can of coke on top if it. it atomizes the coffee on the lining of the stomach and gives an instant caffeine boost. Snitchy sends.
  22. I know, I know it is all the rage. The only difference for me is that I have been following this guy for a while on the internets. He is the author of the 2150 things Mr. Welch is no longer allowed to do in a RPG. http://theglen.livejournal.com/16735.html He has come up with a card game that mimics experiences at a game or comic convention. It looks like a fun fifteen to twenty minutes to play. Over the years his list has given me more than one chuckle so I would like to personally see him succeed. http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1951623800/con2-the-wraith-of-con Snitchy sends
  23. I would consider the gas money from Arizona too. I figure eighteen hours there at 80mph. It is dooable. Snitchy sends.
