  1. ERROR 404 ... So where is the information about SCALE????
  2. Is there a particular monster in the Pathfinder/D&D 'verse that is represented by the "Razormouth"? Thanks!
  3. Yeah that's a single painted mini exchange... I was kinda hoping for a box full of minis that I can take from and add to...
  4. Well, it's officially closer to December now... I AM SO IMPATIENT!!!!
  5. Forgot to add: Female Hill Giants Female Fire Giants Preferably to scale with the current "Males" and not in silly poses like that WAY off scale Yephima... Pretty please and thank you.
  6. Catfolk sprues Kitsune sprues Ogre & Giant sized weapon sprues Riding horses War horses Cat & Kit sprues are simply sculpts of cat & fox heads (maybe with or without different helms, wiz hats etc.) tails and perhaps feetpaws that people can convert existing minis into their fav characters. For example, instead of hoping Reaper will sculpt a full size mini of my character, I could convert an armored human paladin into a catfolk paladin. The giant weapons are simply that. Different weapons I can convert onto the Reaper range of ogres and giants. There just aren't any decent riding/ war horse minis out there. No riders necessary. Just horses with proper tack & barding. Thanks for listening!
  7. GF's box is leaving WA State for MattParody. ETA is Wed 8/16. USPS: 9505 5156 1983 7226 1620 83 Would have sent it sooner, but Post Office is closed on Sat/Sun.
  8. And I received it today! Wed. 9AUG17 OOOH! It's Hea-VAY!!
  9. "I'm Mad as Heck and I'm not going to take it anymore! [Quality]" = intent "...the ultimate slap into this 15+ year customer's face..." = attack "The quality of Reaper miniatures sculpts is going down the toilet." = flame "...some [sculpts] are outright ridiculous." = flame It seems pretty clear to me. Yes, you are right, it DOES seem pretty clear when you cut and paste things out of context and disregard all the positive things I have said as well... good job!
  10. That is fine that you disagree. However the quality of a mini encompasses many aspects: Proportion, detail, "realism", pose, construction material, casting process and even how much effort is put into removing flash before stuffing it into a package. As far as Merisiel is concerned, my only gripe is pose. I understand Reaper had nothing to do with this model in particular, but when people say it was based on "actual" pathfinder art, that is not completely true. Most of the Pathfinder minis are sculpted to look almost EXACTLY like the art. Why someone took the liberty to pose her so ridiculously when the art itself was far better, I will never know... I digress. The point I was making with Merisiel is that POSE is an important part of quality. It is an example of a detailed mini that that someone put a lot of time and effort into that is all but ruined with a goofy pose that does not do it justice. Pick your absolute favorite Reaper mini... now, would you still think it was that cool if it was posed as the poster child for the "Ministry of Silly Walks"??? Yes, I am a CAV player. I also love Sandra Garrity's work (not all, but most, and that's ok), but I also love Jason Wiebe's work (not all, but most, and that's ok), Gene Van Horne (not all, but most, and that's ok), as well as Julie Guthrie (not all, but most, and that's ok) and others. But my collection of Dark Heaven and Warlord minis FAR surpasses my CAV because I am a ravenous 3.5/ Pathfinder player. I understand that the BL, swag, etc. programs were perks, NOT rights. Am I sad when soemthing really cool goes away? Hell yes! Who wouldn't be? I NEVER demanded these programs continue, I just voiced my sadness that they were going, going and then gone. I am glad to hear something is in the works to return at some point. That gives me hope and hope is better than nothing at all. To Mr. Pugh: Thank you for listening, though it does come across as sarcastic and disingenuine in some ways and I am not sure who you are aiming it at. I will endeavor to come up with a few specific examples of what I am talking about "quality-wise" that is more than "I just don't like that mini". I would love to do so for your whole line, alas I am not paid to be quality control, but I will try to back up what I have said. AGAIN, I am not trying to just complain. I hope you recognize and appreciate that I temper what I say with positive commentary as well. If you want I will even post it in your new thread. To Anne: While I understand what you are getting at, telling me to go sculpt my own mini if I am not happy is childish. I have SEEN and PURCHASED most of the greatness that REAPER has created. I KNOW they can do BETTER than what I have seen of late. I know the economy sucks and small(er) companies like Reaper suffer greatly for it. I am ONLY asking for Reaper to not lower their standards. So, I am attempting to "work to change it", by expressing my opinion and being constructive about it. I will continure to be MORE constructive and specific as long as Reaper cares to hear me out. To Everyone Else: I am NOT ATTACKING your beloved Reaper for trolling sake or any other nefarious purpose. Please read my posts and UNDERSTAND the intent before replying. I LOVE REAPER MINIATURES! Do YOU not want something you LOVE to ALWAYS strive to be BETTER??? I do. I am saying what I say BECAUSE I care about Reaper. Look at how many posts I have made in my YEARS of being a BL. I do not flame, I do not troll and when I do have something to say, it is for a good damn reason.
  11. First of all, I have assumed neither. Nowhere have I stated either. Just to clarify, I did not make any "ALL" "ALWAYS" "EVERTHING" "REAPER SUCKS" statements. I made my own personal opinion clear in hopes that Reaper will listen to one of their longstanding and loyal customers. I actually feel they should want to listen to their customers. That is why I wrote. It is subjective because it is my opinion. Duh. I also do not expect Reaper to cater to only my tastes, I think it is great that they have always had such a wide selection. I just have noticed a decline in the quality of sculpts over the last few years to the point where I really don't like most of the character models anymore. The monsters, however, have always been great since Mr. Wiebe raised the bar so high in that arena. You cannot tell me straightfaced that the latest additions of CAV and Chrono minis have been made with the same level of quality that Reaper is KNOWN for. These are just examples. I do not want people to think that Merisiel, The Excelsior CAV and Professor Kraken are the only minis I have a problem with. I feel many (not all) releases as of late have not met the high standards I have come to expect from a company that has already proven they can do better. "D&D minis" from WotC have been and always will be utter crap compared with Reaper and I am seeing more and more of the styles of D&D minis creep into the Reaper line and it, frankly, scares me. This is my opinion. It is meant to be constructive and not flaming Reaper (I still love them). I feel like the parent who sees his child earning C's when they had been earning A+'s. I am not here to debate with Reaper zealots. I get it. Reaper can do no wrong in your eyes. That's fine. Good for you. However, since I feel differently, it is my duty to share my thoughts with Reaper because if I never said how I felt, they would never know. For what it's worth, I hope the folks at Reaper are not like GW and actually care about what I have to say.
  12. Ok... I get it, the economy sucks. Over the past sevaral years I have seen Reaper minis cancel, drop, discontinue or otherwise "downsize" so many of it's programs, incentives, perks, swag, games and now... the ultimate slap into this 15+ year customer's face... The quality of Reaper miniatures sculpts is going down the toilet. I have a copy of EVERY issue of Casketworks ever printed and I witnessed REAPER rise from mediocre to THE BEST in the MARKET for its quality of sculpts. Now, with a few exceptions, the minis are becoming less detailed and more generic. Even the poses are awkward or less dynamic, some (like the Merisiel mini, doing her King Tut dance) are outright ridiculous. I am sad to see such a decline in the quality of REAPER product. Some of your stuff is still great, but so much of your new stuff, especially the Chronoscope and latest CAV models are absolutely poor. Here is my hopes for an improved economy so REAPER can improve its overall product.
  13. Thought this was worth bumping as it is one of my favorite pieces of art. Also, dunno if this question has been addressed, but I must ask... when can we buy prints of our favorite TALIN ART!!!??? I have some money...and want to give it to Talin... but alas, an 8x10 or larger print of Sophie, Monique, Dark Maiden etc are nowhere to be found!! Help us, Obi-Wan Talin, you are our only hope!
  14. Unit cohesion is pretty unnecessary IMO. Since the average table (4x6) is the limits to the battlefield, all units on the table are in a reasonable distance from one another. Unless the table sizes grow to 12X8 or more, I concur that it is a waste of printspace. =)
  15. Being a threat to the "big guns" has to be a reasonable threat. If by big guns, you mean the main gun on a Naginata tank, then I am all for it. If you mean they would be a threat to the "Biggest Guns," meaning those on a Thunderbird, then I would have to call "bullshot" as that would be ridiculously unbelievable. Infantry can be "Queens of the Battlefield"..... when there are hundreds (and sometimes thousands) of them attacking a common objective.... not when there are 5 of them with rocket launchers huddled together under a tree.
  16. I am not an idiot and that is not at all what I said or implied. A modern aircraft radar/computer/weapons system can constantly track multiple targets and requires the pilot to simply choose a target, select a weapon, fire the weapon and move on to the next target. SO a single plane can engage, say 5 for simplicity sake, other planes and have 5 missiles on their way to 5 separate targets in a matter of seconds. It only takes one hand to do ALL of this AND that hand is the same one on the flight stick (which has a button on it for "popping flares" too, Smarty). A CAV, especially with a dedicated WSO or "wizzo" computer (I cannot think of worse term) would be able to do all the above and more with greater efficiency and effectiveness. CAV's are not stationary gun platforms. They are designed to shoot on the move and do so with accuracy. People complain about those who complain about not being able to run shoot and run.....Tanks do it all the time, aircraft do it by nature, why should a futuristic state of the art piece of technology like a CAV be worse? If I were a CAV pilot, I would make every effort to shoot at my targets while getting my arse behind cover before they get a chance to shoot back.
  17. The game IS called C.A.V., after all, and since the primary unit in the game is the C.A.V. (or at least it should be) all other units should be secondary and support based IMHO. Infantry, all the way up through super-heavy-power-armored-Rach-Infantry, should be a serious threat to other infantry, APC's, Tanks and Aircraft. They should NOT, however, be anything more than a slight annoyance to something as big and powerful as a C.A.V. I do not want this game to turn into 40k where the anti-tank lascannon is mounted on vehicles and takes up a great amount of space with its "power cells" and whatnot and yet a single infantry model can carry the SAME weapon, miniaturized down, that does the SAME range and damage of the vehicle mounted weapon. It's like saying "My infantry carry the hand-held version of the Abrams tank main gun. Though smaller, portable and lighter, it has the same range and destructive capabilities as the tank itself......" LAME, lame, lame, lame, lame! The argument that furturistic technology has yielded smaller, lighter, deadlier weapons techology is swell, but on the same note it would yield better armor and defensive technology as well. You can try to argue it until you are blue in the face, but an infantry (even heavy) unit cannot carry into battle a weapon with the equivalence of a gauss gattling cannon. Bottom line, Infantry just should not be a threat to any but the LIGHTEST of CAV's and even then only if the infantry weapons were so numerous as to flood the light cav with anti-armor shots. But bazookas and panzerfausts can take out a tank..... True but only under VERY specific tactical circumstances. They were not able to just point and shoot anywhere at a tank and expect it to erupt into a ball of flame. Modern day "shoulder fired" anti-tank weapons are much more effective, but even then the best tanks in the world see these weapons as little more than annoyances with teh occasional lucky shot doing some palpable damage. This is an exception, NOT the rule. What would a javelin, dragon, T.O.W. do to a CAV? NOTHING!!!! Nothing but give the CAV pilot the location of enemy infantry. Think Empire Strikes Back, planet Hoth, Infantry and even Heavy infantry (turret/radar cannons) could not even SCRATCH the AT-AT walkers. "Their armor is too strong for our blasters!" Yes, Luke took one out single handed, but again, this was a rare EXCEPTION to the rule. So, in short, what I am arguing is that (heavy)Infantry should be equipped as anti-ARMOR or anti-TANK units, NOT NOT NOT as anti-CAV. Only with a REALLY lucky roll of the dice should ANY infantry unit hurt a CAV. Once more, this is just my opinion. As far as playability, all of the beta-version games I have played make infantry unrealistically powerful and effective against EVERYTHING on the battlefield. Why field CAVs when I could just field a mass of Heavy infantry bases and swarm everything my enemy puts down. Especially since the models are cheaper and easier to paint too.... (being smart-alecky, now) =) Just my thoughts. -Thumpernicus
  18. I cannot believe we are comparing combat piloting skills with eating big Macs and drinking latte's...... Computers are what do all the targeting. In the modern Apache helicopter, the gunner simply turns his head to target the enemy and slight movement of the index finger to fire. Multiple weapons systems firing on a single target should NOT be penalized at all. That is kind of ridiculous to suggest a futuristic combat controlling computer can't handle this. Even firing at multiple targets, the modern day F-14 tomcat can engage and fire at (if I remember correctly) 8-10 different targets..... ALL AT THE SAME TIME, WOW! All the pilot has to do is press the fire button and weapons systems do the rest. Penalizing firing at MULTIPLE targets during a run-n-gun might be more "game friendly" but it is still doing less than what ancient technology (Apaches and tomcats) can do. Having a WSO/wizzo is swell for combat vehicles that have complex targeting and weapons systems....that's why so many of "today's " combat vehicles are 2-seaters or even crews of 5+ people..... M-1A = Commander, Gunner, loader, driver AND they are only a fraction of the size or firepower of a C.A.V. I understand that no game can be truly realistic, that is not what I am asking for. It is just that you can only ask a player to suspend only so much of their disbelief before they say, "This game is now officially ridiculous." This has happened to more than one of my favorite "popular main stream tabletop games". I am simply trying to prevent this from happening to my latest favorite....CAV. -Thumpernicus Maximus
  19. Ok, so here is my take on this. From my personal experience as a Dragon Gunner in the Army, Infantry in cover and concealment (NOT just concealment) will happily take on an armored vehicle. If we were ever to be charged by an armored vehicle we might take one or two shots at closer range, but diving for cover to save ones own life is a VERY strong instinct. So, as far as "gaming reality" goes, let the infantry make a discipline check to stand their ground, if passed, let them make their full attack and if the Armor is still rollin' it should be able to pass over/through the infantry base with no further penalty. Infantry in the game of CAV are "usually" not dug-in with the ample cover and concealment needed to adequately protect them from armor attacks. However, they have better, futuristic personal body armor or "stealth suits" or whatever. Infantry are not meant to go toe to toe with armor. It is just not sensible. AT infantry are in essence "snipers" of armored vehicles. They sit and wait and ambush armored vehicles. The references made about urban areas being deathtraps to tanks is correct.....why? Not because infantry are so friggin' super troopers, but because urban areas are FULL of places to sit and wait and snipe at enemy armor. The thought of Infantry taking out aircraft, APC's, transports and other infantry is the purpose of Infantry. The thought of Infantry being a threat to the megaton-heavily armored warbeasts that are CAV's makes me sick. This is all based on the idea that infantry in proper cover and concealment are a threat. Infantry slogging across the field in the open are sitting ducks and should be trampled like cockroaches underfoot of a giant CAV. That's all I have to say about that. -Thumpernicus Maximus
  20. Friendly Neighborhood Art supply stores have super-ultra-itty-bitty- fine tipped ink drawing pens that are great for making pupils in even the smallest eye recesses. They do a great job with eyebrows too!
  21. I utilize my latest edition of Casketworks. I just use a highlighter pen and mark all the "names" of the figures I have and take it with me to the local store when I wanna buy more. This way I can even show the store which ones I want them to order for me and even have the stock numbers too!!! BOOYAH! :p Much less expensive than the Pocket PC, with no database to build either. That's just me.
  22. I will surely post pics on the Ren Faire's website when it's completed. I have a few months to get it done, so don't hold your collective breaths. :D I did not think about the unicorns.... but by cutting off the horns, doesn't that make me the Prime Evil of all evil? Don't I also kill a part of the universe or something too.... I just don't think I could handle that kind of responsibility.... Thanks for all the great ideas, everyone!!!
