  1. The hair on my bust I am working keeps slapping me around. I think I may have made some headway last night. Paint group tonight for a couple hours, so we will see!
  2. It's Folk Art, one of those cheap acrylic brands XD But it's got a really really nice dark grey-green tone to it. I've used it for algae covered surfaces, for stone, it's what i used to do Coraldrax's entire body before covering him up with algae XD I'm a big fan of the color If it works, it works. Brands are just labels. :D
  3. Mine are fairly "easy." 1. Paint more with a goal to try to paint a hour a day for a good portion of the week. 2. Get better at lining, eyes. 3. Continue to write regularly on my blog with 1x a post a week at least.
  4. They've already done all of that. Anyone who says they haven't fixed things hasn't been paying attention. They've made cleaner versions of the cards available for download from their site. They've hired someone from outside of the company to write a new rule book from scratch. It will be available for public review during the next KS so any concerns can be fixed before the KS ends, then it too will be available for download for free. Printed copies of the new rule book and cards will be available as a part of the second KS at cost. Well that is good, but I am still leary at the mess the first time around was. I will keep an eye on this.
  5. Ha. I now see what folks mean. Not a single shot of her face. I will have to get one.
  6. From what I have read on BGG, Myth really needs to get the game sorted out before they expand it. Messy rules, clarifications, and just plain needs development. And I have gotten this from many sources I trust. I was tempted, but the comments from my friends made me very glad I passed.
  7. Oh, don't think I have ever seen this mini. I like it.
  8. Thinking of you at this time. Fulfillment can wait methinks.
  9. True. Looking at the goal for funding makes me quite leary I admit. Seems quite low for miniature production.
  10. Quite all right Doug. I figured you were busy as I recalled you said you were off to something right after the con. I need to "practice" again with taking photos (and find my better lens for this--how does one lose an entire lens?)
  11. Some neat ideas here, but I think I will wait till I can pick them up at a local FLGs or OLGs.
  12. So very tempted indeed, but I am at ReaperCon to do ReaperCon. I can see Avengers II at home.
  13. Yep! Thanks. The exact feedback I heard about her, and I agree. I have tweaked her a bit already, but the contrast will stay the same. I actually thought her contrast was good, but I have heard from more than one source to push it more (don't you always), so you more pushing! I have also lined her a bit more, which has helped and varied the colors in the back plants. That helped a lot. I think it would help to recalibrate your internal sense of contrast. try painting a piece taht shades to black and highlights to white. Spend enough time on it and then compare that piece to your current work. It will look ridiculous but you'll see how in comparison your current work is a little flat. Think about the areas that can be darker, her cleavage and under her chin for example. make little adjustments and see how those impact the feel of the piece. I like to look at fine art to calibrate my sense of contrast. I mostly fail to replicate it but look at the theatrical lighting in this piece: See how dramatic the lighting is? the value scale goes from near black to near white. Now Caravaggio was a master of this so it is unfair to compare yourself to him but it is instructive as to what you can get away with and what would enhance your own work. Something to think about anyways. Yes. I know what you mean. Always push contrast they say, and I have to agree. The blues I was never "trluly" happy with. And they were one of those things--no matter how much work I did, it just never seemed to improve, so for the time I put the brush down. The red I like a bit more, but even last night I saw I could push the shadow a bit more, and the highlight a bit more on the knee.
  14. Ahh, I didn't notice they were out of focus. I will take some more shots later. Thanks.
  15. Yep! Thanks. The exact feedback I heard about her, and I agree. I have tweaked her a bit already, but the contrast will stay the same. 16. Here is my final entry for Ghengis Con single miniature. I have since tweaked her a bit based on comments from the judges (as much as I can with her on a base, and lining is just plain hard anyways). I a quite happy with her, but like all things, I see lots that can be done to make her better. However, I am happy. And it is nice to be in a place where you are pleased with your work. Here she as as she appeared at Ghengis Con 2015. I may post an updated photo later, but they are very subtle changes that I think would be hard to pick up via photo.
  17. I use a crophopper for scrapbooking, and various snap-tite containers for paints, tools. I tend to often paint more away from home then at home.
  18. Thanks! I am extremely happy with the leather. The hair is driving me nuts. I have painted grey dwarf hair before with great success but on something far smaller.
  19. I live in Colorado, and I haven't invested in snow tires. :D Always wondered if they made any difference.
  20. Excited here as well. I am going to my first con after hearing about it for years from all the local painters here. Big contingent from here goes a lot. I didn't expect to go this year, so now I have to work on an entry or two.
  21. Some progress. I tried the "salt" method chipping on the pauldrons, and I had moderate success. I don't love it, but I don't hate it. More has to do with the undercoating. The beard is frustrating me. I just can't get the depth I want on it yet. And there is a lot of it, and it is important. Really frustrating me right now. Might need to put him down a bit and work on something else for a bit.
  22. I am excited to get my 2 figures (Sophie and Dragons Don't Share 2), but I am in like Wave 3495. Or, 10.
