  1. Hi Reaper Peeps,

I would like to create a hoard of goblins for a project, but I would like to make it so there no exact duplicate goblins....  So I would like to modify each of the goblins slightly and I was wondering if anyone had any experience modifying bones USA models.  Does the hot water trick work on them?  I was thinking of using boiling water and ice water to change the pose a bit from most of them (Marineal's idea.  She is really a genius).  If anyone has experience or ideas I would love to hear them.  I don't want to reinvent the wheel if I don't have too.

World Wide Miniatures Day 2021 VIII

    World Wide Miniatures Day

    July 10ish 2021

    You know you want o…
    You know you have to

What:   World Wide Miniatures Day 2021 VIII

When:  July 10th(ish) – I say (ish) cuz it’s flexible.  If you can’t do it this day, do the next day, or the day after or the day before or the week before.  This event is designed to be fun and inclusive to everyone as much as possible.

Where:  Your place.  Be safe.  Stay home.  Use discord/twitch/zoom/hangouts or whatever else you like.  Feel free to add links to your chats below if you like.

What:  This is the fun part.  WWMD is a celebration of this hobby we love while enjoying sharing our obsessions with others who can truly understand.  Also to bring in new people to this wonderful and engrossing pastime.

How:  We celebrate it by doing anything related to the hobby.  Anything!  Some activities include:  Painting, cleaning, prepping, priming, purchasing, trading, reading about, watching videos, organizing, talking about, teaching classes, researching, playing games with miniatures, planning miniature games, building a gaming table, paint rack,  display case, basing miniatures, collecting basing materials, writing posts or articles, photographing miniatures, constructing sentences with the word miniature in them.  Really ANYTHING that can be connected back to this hobby.  Did I say anything?

Cost:  Just your sanity.  You are a miniature painter -- this is probably a freebee for you.

Motto: No rules.  No Prizes.  No regrets.

Why:  Really?  You have read this far and you are asking why?  The simple answer is – because we can and we should.

But really…. WHY:  Why not?  Oh yeah if you participate I will send you a poker chip commemorating the event.  So that’s pretty cool.  All you have to do is DM me with your address so I can send you one.

    Special Challenges

Marathon Challenge:  Can you do something miniatures related for 24 hours taking breaks only to eat and go to the bathroom?  This challenge is for you.  It is based on the honor system but it would be really cool to post pictures of your work in progress.

Half Marathon Challenge:  Same as the marathon only its 12 hours.

5K Challenge:  5 hours – you get the idea.

Local Game Store Challenge:  I added this one this year specifically because of COVID and the economic hit our local hobby stores have taken. This is a win win for everyone — we get to help out the local hobby stores who will help support the hobby and make it grow for all of us. I think this one is super important.

Charity Challenge:  It is back by popular demand— well it was popular with me anyway — the Charity Challenge. This one is simple.  Paint something – sell it – donate the money to charity.  I trust you – it’s the honor system.

The origins of World Wide Miniatures Day…

  3. Or does everyone one else want to download all the handout, bind them together in a book, and place it in their reference collection?

Thanks to everyone who make this even so great!  The peeps behind the scenes, the ones in front, the instructors, the ConGoers, and the people who kept the factory running.  And anyone else that I forgot or am not aware of because they kept everything working and running smoothly.

I loved these little norkers the first time I saw them.

@maxstylesand I decided to paint them for the duo challenge this month. I just couldn't decide which one to do, so I did the 4 of them! I'm gonna have to buy the mounted one too now!

Also, we couldn't decide if we should make them green or tangerine, so we decided.... Both! I was going for a dog-like distribution of colors. Hope y'all like them!

@Marineal for the record I was just joking but then she did it.  And hers were so cool that I had to copy her so I did mine like Goblin Juggalos.  I still need to finish the archers but I got the boar rider done....

  5. This is so cool  I'm glad people are interested.  Anyone have any special plans or goals in mind?  I think this year I will try to paint a miniature to represent the character in my DnD group.  Its a big group so there are 8 characters.  Whats that about 3 hours be fig?  I think I can do that....  Oh and I couldn't leave my favorite GM out in the cold so I had him pick one to paint for him.  Which brings the total to 9 so each one is just under 3 hours.  I'm hoping to have them all cleaned, prepped, and primed before the start.  Of course, I'm thinking of converting some of them but I haven't decided if that will happen before I start....

Can you slap together a lazy Susanne to mount him on?  He spins/turns to get painted. But you have an index mark to turn him back to an exact position so that the time lapse imaging always catches him from the same angle...he moves (spins) but does not appear to.

Cake decorators have spin mounted things for use when icing a cake. One of those maybe.

You can't see it the picture but he is sitting on a lazy Susan and she was not happy.

Absolutely yay!  You get to paint all day.  How cool is that?!?

You could donate your time teaching beginners how to paint. Its all good!

Combine this challenge with any of the others and get a special reward.

Complete any of the above challenges and pm me your address and I will send you a ribbon.  How cool is that?  I’m hoping cool enough to solve the all world’s problems… but I am helplessly optimistic.
