They look like the "Edison" or something specialty lights to me. Really big in the craft-gift-store world for the past couple of years. Supposed to look retro and old fashioned. Think they skirt the incandescent light ban. But they could be LED. I don't recognize that layout style.

This style of LED came out a few years ago. Each of thos bars is an extra wide LED unit (or dozens of micro LEDs, could be either, and they produce the image of a long filament.  There's a more powerful version they use in replacements for the long halogen bulbs you find in work and commercial spotlights

    Coming right up....

Am I the only nerd here who recognizes those as plastic bulbs and an LED light set?  they wont break and even if they did they would still be illuminated.  (sorry, it was bugging me...) 😜

Great idea to do this like a festival dragon rather than a Monster Manual entry.  Very bright.

thanks for looking!  What can I say, I'm a child of the 70s.  oriental dragons are either festival colored or neon....  I chose to go with festival colors on this one.  He joins the dragon of the Sea (green/blue), air (white/blue/purple) and earth (Green/yellow).  All of them as close to neon as I can get them.  He's pretty tame in comparison...

    Good news everyone!

Well, that's encouraging! Already got her results from today's scans. Now, haven't heard back from the doc yet since it was 8pm when that dropped, so I'm going on my engineering hat interpretation of a radiologist report, but it appears that there's no signs of intrusion into the bones nor any spread to the lymphatic system. It also says that for a cancer, it doesn't look like one. Doesn't mean it isn't, but just doesn't look typical. I feel that's really a good sign. Have to see what the surgeons think!

That sounds like great news.  Good luck to her and I will keep you and her in my thoughts.

    Happy Cinco de Mayo!

Yes, I am aware that today actually celebrates the Mexican armies victory over France at the Battle of Puebla during the Franco-Mexican war and not Mexican Independence Day as many Americans erroneously believe.

    Enjoy your day!

    the other holiday for today:

May the 5th be with you!  everyone responsibly enjoy some spirited beverages!

  6. Nice!  I like the group.  Definitely and old school adventuring group off to raid a killer megadungeon somewhere!

The pole man and the wizard are my favorites!

Great mini to get back into it!  I like the sensible camouflage choice of desert brown outer wing and sky blue underwing.

Thanks!  I don't know what is in my worlds deserts but all of my blue dragons seem to need both ambush and protective camouflage!

The wings really are nice, but those scales are outstanding!

I appreciate the c9mpliment.  I was going to do just a fade from dark ti light bottom to top but the scales were so well defined and sharp I couldn't resist.  The dragon has three sets of blues, the scales are the ocean triad, the back and belly scales are the indigo triad and the wings are the sky triad.  I really like how the set came out.

Very nice. I like the bright scales in contrast with the desert base and wings.

Glad you're feeling well enough to paint and enjoy the hobby some.

It's nice to paint something though it's still taking me more time and I can't paint for as long as I used to.  Hopefully it will continue to get better!

Love the coloring - the touch of green on the face is a particularily nice touch. Great work on this dragon, inspiring!

Thanks, Im glad you like him,  I try to give all my dragons a flash of contrast, I like the effect and it seems more realistic

    lovely paint, so many blues

Sculpt is a little odd, who makes Ildraedis?

The Sculpt is from  the Bones 5 kickstarter but he doesn't have a number yet.  It's one of the 5 extra dragons.  I think he was supposed to be white but the base and scales screamed  BLUE so he became a blue desert dragon ::D:

    Great job on him!

Also, nice to see you painting again.::):

Thanks!  Good to be actually finishing something this year.  It's been a rough one and I'm hoping this is a sign that things are returning to normal!

  8. @Green Eyed Monster  I'm really hoping we don't have to got there again.  The rampent inflation was bad but i dont know if i can handle cheap polyester clothing all over again!  Setuously this inflation and repeated shortages is terrible on both a personal and professional level.  I really don't want to so the 80s job hop every 2 years to keep up with inflation!

@Inarah. Sorry to hear about the router it's a pain to diagnose and can be a pain to get your provider to recognize!  Hope everyone is well over there!

HOLY MOLY!  I thought I had a lot of those cases, but I'm an amateur compared to you. I've only got 20 of them.

You all have too much time and not enough space!  Most of my painted, nonmilitary figures are on display in glass ikea cabinets and my military stuff is in plano lure boxes.  My unpainted stuff is mainly in file cabinets... unmarked file cabinets.  I relt on my memory to find stuff ::D:

  10. Great job on the griffin!   I really like the eyes and the wing patter looks phenomenal on him.  I still have one of these In a box somewhere and may have to bring it out for a try.

The weight of the old minis can bring out the wrist braces in the best of us but I wouldn't gove.them.up.

    Thanks for sharing!

  11. interesting weather this morning....  A lightning strike hit the local power transformer and blew it to pieces.  the detonation was loud enough to shake the house from 2 blocks away.  Good morning Monday, nice to see you off to a good start!

Power was restored an hour ahead of predicted repair time so Kudos to the local repair crews!

Finished up meeting #9 for the day. Had 10 but that one was a double booked thing. Now with the tenth of an hour I have left in the day I may be able to do some work.

sympathies.  sounds like you had a day like mine.  I am just finishing my last meeting... hopefully sometime in the next hour.

the aggravation is gone...I leave the day with a whimper.

What you describe sounds a lot like winter depression is part of your problem

    Vitamin D might help.

On the pain front, know what you are going through and that it saps energy and interest in everything.

    Hang in there my friend.

Vitamin D is something I already take.   the lackluster interest in everything is mainly due to losing my last adrenal gland over the holidays and having to get using pills to compensate.  Its a learning experience.  I appreciate the concern an the sympathetic condition! Worst part for me is its pretty much voluntary:  the drugs I take to mitigate my cancer, cause a weird form of arthritis that attacks the tendons and muscles in various joints (usually just one or two each time but quite painful none the less.)

What is making your knees feel like they are on fire?  I join @Pegazus in commiseration; no it is not fair that a pair of joints will just betray you.

For the painting, maybe your inner chemist might have some interest sparked by trying to reverse engineer contrast paints or speed paints. I have heard rumours about acrylic medium+flow improver+water+ink … but in what proportions?

A variety of arthritis that attacks the tendons and ends of the muscles is my torch to bear.  Its a weird variety of arthritis that goes after the connective tissue between the joints and the muscles causing inflammation and the muscles to pull on the joints in funny ways.  It makes the joint ache and the muscles all around the joint very unhappy.  the worst part is the sad fact that the joints will fuse if they aren't exercised so in order to keep movement i have to keep moving the joint in the most painful direction. (I lost this battle with my neck, i am not going to lose again!)

On the positive side, I am literally living a quote from the Princess Bride:  "Life is Pain, anyone who tells you otherwise is trying to sell you something"  some of the drugs that keep me alive trigger flares of this condition.  but the alternative is a comfortable but very short lifespan! 😲

The inner chemist in me tends to shy away from playing with paint.  i have had a few experiments go badly and still more where i have made something interesting and then completely forgotten what I did.  neither of these is conducive to continuing....
