  1. It was started in the OTR forum. The one in MA was in July. Central New England Paint Day This one is in Groton, CT; about a 45 minute drive from Saint Raphael's Hospital (the wife used to make that commute for a year). We've got half a dozen confirmed for this round, and a few other possibles. It would be great if you can make it.
  2. I must have lucked out with my wife. I did go the diamond route but there was none of the "it must be this big and cost XX dollars". Which was good for me as she hadn't a clue that I was proposing. I got her a nice princess cut stone in a simple setting. She had mentioned to me shortly after we started dating that she had trouble finding rings that that she could wear at work without ripping her gloves (she is a nurse). She still doesn't know what I payed for her ring. Whenever we get a new insurance policy I have to take the phone when we get the ring rider, she doesn't want to know what I payed.
  3. Actually the domains that are listed are all in the SRD for 3.X. That way Paizo can use them without copy right infringement. They created their own gods with the domains from the SRD (or so I read in the forums). Any DM can use whatever he/she wants from any of the other books, but Paizo can't publish anything from a non-SRD source in their own published material. As far as charecters go, I planning on running my elven warmage (multi classing to wizard at some point). That will handle the arcane/blaster role. Lorderl looks like he will be a combat oriented type. A healer and trap finder are among the standard roles left to be filled. Of course, more muscle is always a good thing. @Lorderl- I see you are listed as being in New Haven. Are you going to the Central New England Paint Day (Conneticut edition), October 20th, in Groton? I have my mini picked out for my character and will be working on it there.
  4. Ah, but in bootcamp it doesn't matter what you rate will be. Everyone is a seaman recuit, shortened to "seaman". My friend Tom Flood had a rough time. LOUD COMPANY COMMANDER VOICE "SEAMAN FLOOD! 8 COUNT BODY BUILDERS, SELF DESTRUCT, BEGIN!"
  5. Try LifeHacker. It's a site that reviews time/productivity software. I seem to recall there being a bunch of reviews of software for managing I-pod libraries. Just do a search on the site, keyword IPOD.
  6. Definitely the potato salad!!! Though I hope it doesn't turn into one of those types of "potato salad" parties that I've heard so much about... I have no idea what kind of party you are referring to, but I have a sneaking suspicion that I don't want to.
  7. I think the MA meet will be next year, iirc. Come to CT, anyway! There are those of us traveling from NH and ME! You have no excuse! Coming from Boston isn't a big deal. I made that drive every weekend when dating my wife. (Now driving up Mission Hill wherer her dorm was, that could get a little exciting ). The drive goes by pretty quick. 93S to 95S to painting good times. Or, try and catch a ride with someone passing through. If not, though, hope to see you next time.
  8. All right, here we go. 9. My choices (pending DM approval) in order: Elven Warmage(Complete Arcane)/Wizard (Working up to Ultimate Magus (Complete Mage)) Dwarven Cleric/Wizard (Working up to Runesmith (Races of Stone)/Mystic Thurge (DMG) or if we need more muscle Shoanti (shadde-quah) Barbarian At least that is what I'm looking at until my fevered brain comes up with something completely different (oooh, shiney) Scores and feats to follow.
  10. From what I understand, bring your brushes, paint and what ever minis you want to work on. Ladystorm will be bring the supples for a Paint and Take and will be sharing her paints. I don;t have any problems sharing what I have. As I live close by, I will be bring most of my painting desk (as it is in storage while I move, it is conveinently boxed up). As far as food, I'm not sure. I was thinking of asking She Who Must Be Obeyed (my wife), to whip up a cheese cake or lemon cake. Something to sustain the painting binges. I know that if I'm in a painting groove I will forget to eat if not reminded.
  11. Yes I do. But was it better than Thundar the Barbarian?
  12. One other thing for those who are looking to do something else while in this neck of the woods. The 20-21st is the last weekend of the CT Renisance Fair. The wife and I went last year and had a great time.
  13. I'm not gonna get close enough to tell fer sure.
  14. All of them are fabulous. My personal favorite out of this batch would have to be the female necromancer. The dress and the cloak are to be the main reasons for that. The patterns on the cloak alone. Please tell me that there is texture on the back of the cloak. Because if you painted the pebbled look, my brain may just melt.
  15. This is how New Englanders survive winter actually from what I've seen. Cram in as much as possible before the snow and cold hit so that you can spend the whole winter saying "Hey you remember back in October at the Connecticut Reaperfest when...?" There's also the whole, we've been plotting for how long? Or during the winter you cram as many people into a small space to keep warm..the "sheep huddle" principle. Though it would make it more difficult to paint.
  16. That would be the place. Figures that I would leave something out. Is it October yet?? Now I'm off to paint. Ceilings and walls rather than minis for now.
  17. And the only other thing I can think of to cover is supplies. I'm sure everyone is going to bring their own. I know I sure will aand I've got no problem shareing. I just wanted to let you know the one thing the Citadel doesn't have the greatest selection of is paints. Pat has an ok selection of propaints, but the only MSPs are in the LTP kits, plus a few assorted bottles (flesh tones IIRC). He sells some of the Reaper Taklon brushes and some spray primer and sealer, and I think I remember seeing some Armory paints in there as well. It just soen't sell well enough down here (yet)for him to carry the complete lines. But he will special order anything for customers. As far as minis, he stocks all of the Dark Heaven Legends, a fair (but not complete) selection of Warlord, and some CAVs. He also has a ton of the other lines (Battletech, Heavy Gear, Ral Partha, Citadel, Legend of the 5 Rings, Enigma, Grenadier) and a bunch of other stuff that I can't remember. I do think that quite a bit is old and may not be in production anymore. And he has role playing, and more board games than you can shake a stick at. The downstairs has a bunch of "common use" games that have been left behing over the years. He won't sell them because they were bought and left by someone else (too bad cause the is a box of Dark Heaven Apocolypse that I have been coveting for a while) that can be used. As for playing Warlord, there is probably enough space to do that in addition to painting. I've got some figs and books, I have yet to play. I seem to have been more of a collector then painter/gamer lately. Hey, look I'm over a hundred posts now. That averages to about 25 a year. I must be a slow bloomer.
  18. Directions to the Citadel: From points north (easy but longer)- Take 95 South into CT. get off at Groton exit 86 (Rt 12/Sub Base). At bottom of exit turn left onto Rt 12/Long Hill Road. Go about a mile, the Citadel is on the right, just after the Japanese steak house. From points north (little more complicated but somewhat shorter)- Take 495 south, to exit 25 (290West/Worcester). Take 290West through Worcester (pronounced Woooster) until 290West turns into 395South. Continue along 395South to exit 79A(Rt2A/Mohegan Sun casino). Follow 2A past the casino and across the Thames river. At traffic light turn right onto Rt 12. Continue down Rt 12 taking in the senic sights such as Dow-Chemical plant, the New London Submarine Base (just ignore the fact that it's really in Groton), and cross under I95. Amile after the I95South on ramp you will see the Citadel on the right, just after the Japanese Steak House. From points south- Take 95N to exit 85(Thames St/Downtown Groton). Bear left on off ramp. Slight right at light onto Rt 12/Long Hill Road. Go about a mile, the Citadel is on the right, just after the Japanese steak house. I gave two methods from the North as it can be a pain getting to I95 as well as dealing with the traffic in Providence. If anyone needs more detailed directions, or is coming in from another direction the west, then let me know and I can personalize it for you. I tried mapquest from various places and the direction are pretty good. I mean, its not the way I would drive but it will get you there.
  19. Now all that is needed is directions. Those will have to wait as my lunch is at and end I must now force feed knowledge into sailor's skulls.
  20. funny that they would call it the "Elite Array" as this equals the standard 25 point pool, perhaps its used so for its overall balanced stats Actually, I think is is supposed to be the same. There was something about it just being a quick way generating ability scores for those who don't have time or the basic math skills for the normal point buy.
  21. It all counts. Munchkin is as good of a gateway drug game as any other. I just talked to Pat. When I asked him about Oct 20 and if it was available, he said "That far in advance?". He seemed surprised by the lead time we were devoting. We are good for the whole weekend. The store hours are Sat. 11-6 and Sun 1-5. If people want more time he has been known extend the hours. Back the the local magic heyday, I have gone in on Saturday and not left the game room until Sunday afternoon. And for those that want something else to do while in the area, aide from the aforementioned casino's, within a 20 minute drive is the largest used book store I have ever seen. The Book Barn in Niantic, is a two story barn full of books. How many books? Well enough that they had to build half a dozen out builings and open a store on Main St. to hold them all. I have spent many happy days purusing the stacks.
  22. I am walking out the door after this post to set it up with Pat during my lunch. As far as dinner and a beer, what food do you desire? My personal local favorite is Paul's Pasta, a little hole in the wall pasta joint that makes their own pasta just before they throw it in the pot. Fancy? No. Cheap? Yes. Delicious? You betcha! Or there are steak, seafood, all you can eat buffets (casino's two within 20 minutes). As far as painting both days, I was thinking of Saturday, but I could stretch it into a weekend deal. I'll check that the space is available. I can also post a sign up on the board to pull in any other local painters that don't frequent these boards. It will give us a chance to infect, er convert, I mean show the superiority of the Reaper's product. Yeah, that's it, that's the ticket.
  23. I'll be glad to make the arrangements with the owner Pat. I talked to him when the first time came up and he had no issues then. Should I go ahead and tell him the weekend of the 20-21? Probably the Saturday. I'll get the hours that the store is open. As far as those wanting to make a stay of it, my new house has a largefinished down stairs and I have several comfy air matresses. So if someone wanted to spend money on mini instead of go to a hotel, I could put you up for the night. This offer of course has to be subject to my wife feeling that we are sufficently moved in enough so that she would not be embarased at having company for the night.
  24. That's what Emergency Pants are for... Is it sad that I know that's a Sluggy reference? Awesome work Froggy. I still don't see how you manage toturn out so much at one time. No, it is sad that I know that it is a Sluggy reference and that I was forced to troll through the archives and read that set of strips.
  25. Very nice. I like the fact that you used green for the color of its hide, most of the examples I have seen are brownish. As for the name, it must be related to the Black Beast of Aaarrrrrggggghhhhh!!!! (I tried to avoid the Monty Python reference but my willpower has never been one of my stronger charecteristics)
