  1. Good job. I like what you did on the inside of the cloak.
  2. Thank you! I'm 46 years old. I don't even imagine painting without these... As for brushes I use Raphael 8404 and Winsor & Newton Series 7 brushes size 1 and smaller. Truth be told, the leaves aren't really that tiny and even the mini itself isn't really that small. You'd be surprised at the size.
  3. I like it. The orange is perfect.
  4. Loth is correct. Hit it with gloss then go back to matte. I've done this model before. It's not an easy one. You did a really great job.
  5. Thanks! It was kind of a gamble.
  6. I've just started painting yellow. It's not something I'm good at but I had to try and master it. My advice to anyone trying out a difficult colour, DON'T pick a challenging mini as your test subject. That is what I did here and it wasn't easy in the slightest. This was a very difficult model for me to work on. If you really want to try out a difficult colour, do it on an old GW Space Marine. Everyone has at least one of those laying around or a friend who does. A friend who will lend it to you with the expectation of never getting it back. So yeah. Learn from old Uncle AEdge and save you
  7. I hear you. I'm not a fan of weapons like this. Reminds me too much of Klingon style weapons. Not really easy to figure out how to paint. I just winged it.
  8. It's easier than you think. I just used the Dusky Skin Triad. I like it much better than the actual Dark Elf Skin Triad (too purplish for my tastes). Try it out. You'll like it.
  9. It's rare that I paint a mini and end up with a result that is mostly satisfying. This is one of those times. I've painted this model a number of times so I guess I can chalk it up to having had practice. I last painted this up as the typical surface elf and the plan was to do so again. Thankfully at the very last second I opted for a Dark Elf/ Drow skin tone. You have to love the sneering look on his face. You just want to punch it or stab it... twice.
  10. Questions comments and critique are welcome...
  11. I like your colour choices. Really great work here.
  12. A very fun and simple mini to paint. I also took it as an opportunity to paint some blue. Not something a do very often.
  13. He looks more appropriate as a rogue. Well done.
  14. You know I actually started to do that. I thinned down some Vallejo Game Colour Terracotta and applied it in a few spots. Unfortunately the camera doesn't show it very well. I'll be a little more liberal with it next time...
  15. No complaints from me today. I like how this turned out. There are a few minor things that I would do differently in hindsight, but all in all I'm satisfied. This really started out as more of a test piece. Up until now I hadn't really made much use of the Reaper Golden Skin Triad for actual skin. I've used them individually on things like leather boots and even then it was sparingly. I still prefer more of a ruddy skin tone for painting human caucasians but this turned out alright. I'll do it again.
  16. A very cool mini. The stone look is convincing. I'm betting this would look great with a regular barbaric paint job as well. If you can find another one I'd consider it.
  17. I like her. Her hair colour in particular. I've painted many a mini with blond hair but never a platinum blond. You have inspired me to do so.
  18. Thank you all for the kind words and the feedback. So after reading the comments and doing my own analysis. I have found that yes I do indeed complain too much about my painted minis. I'll work on that... After reading the comments about the mini and my own analysis. I've realized a few things. 1. There isn't enough of a focal point. It should possibly be the face but as it has been pointed out, the hair blends with the cloak. The mini has no "pop" 2. My palette may have been a little too limited perhaps. It needed something else. More. 3. I tried to make it look a bit frosty b
  19. King Jurgen Heyerdal. I'm a little disappointed in how this came out. It's one of the first Reaper minis that I owned but never got around to painting until now. I'm not sure where it went wrong. Maybe nothing is wrong with it and I just complain to much. What do you think?
  20. This was painted several years ago. I always thought painting darker skin would be easier. It wasn't. Taking a photo of this was a pain. Even after several coats of matte sealer, the mini still had a bit of glare. I tried diffusing my lamps and even made a makeshift light box. Even adjusting the ISO setting didn't work. This was the best that I could get.
