Thank you so very much :) I can never seem to manage trees for some reason. This seem fairly easy, but I can't see them in my head.

Thanks Serenity :)

I can't get the photos to show up. Can anyone provide a recent link?

When I first came in after the change, the page didn't load properly at all. It was so bad, I actually stopped going in for a while. I'm really happy that it got fixed. I would like to make a small request if possible. I like to buy paints in kits. I want to get a starter kit for a young man that is just learning to paint, but I can't find the kits under "paints". Shouldn't the paint kits be under "paints". Or has Reaper stopped making them? Even the beginner sets that came with brushes and a mini seem to be lost. any suggestions?

Thank you Inarah. He's a lot more matte in person. I love him dearly. Of course, this has to do with my husband. When he forgets to shave, I've nicknamed him hedgehog. I've been obsessed with the little guys ever since :)

lol...yes, I can see how you'd like that one. I haven't actually built any vehicles yet, but I have a new box of one that I need to get started sometime soon. So many minis, so little time :)

Thanks for the advice :) I'll try a brush on sealer when I can find one. My local hobby shop seems to be out of it all the time. I spray in the bathroom with the fan on holding the can about 6 inches away. But you're right, the Armory is very unpredictable. The orks I sprayed next came out perfectly matte. Go figure.

Excellent painting. The figure itself...made me laugh. I love it! Gail

Very nice effects :) Well done! -
I agree. I love the deamon but both are excellent. Gail

I especially love the bust. If that was life sized, you'd really creep a lot of people out! Incredibly lifelike.

I keep waiting for his mouth to open and see a figure hanging out :)

Holy amazing work! Nice job! I love the base, the colours, the yellows...WOW! Gail

I kinda went a little crazy with the metallics on this one. I had to have him done for Christmas and the young man I was painting him for wanted lots of metallics. Regardless, I'm pretty proud of the way he turned out. I'm especially thrilled with his beard. My sealer, although it says matte, keeps coming out shiny. I have no idea how to stop it from doing that. It's the Armoury Matte Sealer. Any ideas? His coat is supposed to be a duster...needless to say...it doesn't look dusty when it's shiny.

This is my little hedgehog I took some time to paint. I had to take a break during his work for my work. Hope you like him :)

Absoluetly Wonderful! I love the textures and colours. You did a fantastic job on the wings too! Gail

Cotton balls? I can't wait to see that!

4 Tyranic War Space Marine Vets/ 40k WIP

Very nice work! My son is working on Marines, I'll be sending him this link :) -
Photoshop for the colours first....I like that idea. Sometimes I just sit and stare at a mini trying to see the colours in my mind. I love what you did with eyes! Really great. Gail
-
Really great work! I love your skin tones. I'm having trouble highlighting to this degree. I'm definately going to keep trying. Gail

okay, after some time off courtesy of ridiculous working hours, I've finally managed to finish my little hedgehog. His sword was my 2nd attempt at non-metalic metals. I like how he's turned out. I still can't manage to get my camera to capture him perfectly, but I'm still working on it. Hope you like him.

Agreed the gold needs to be a bit brighter. I haven't come close to mastering nmn yet, but there are lots of really great painters here to offer very useful info. I wanted to comment on the greens. Really fabulous shading and highlighting there. Good work.

I've had the same issues as you are with lighting. I've found, that if I hook up my camera through my computer I have much better control, not to mention clicking remotely. Next...Pick up something called a grey card. You use it first to teach your camera the proper white balance for the area you are photographing in. This will give truer tones to your photo. What kind of camera are you using?

How do people not touch a miniature while painting it?
feltisgirl replied to MonkeySloth's topic in Tips & Advice: Painting
I got given a whole bunch of older gw paints. I use sticky tack and one of those paint pots where the paint has dried out. I'm liking the idea of the pill bottles though, I'll have to keep my husband from throwing them out :) -
I'm feeling pretty lucky too. I've only glued my fingers a couple of times. I have a nice scar from opening a box with a box cutter...8 stitches. Watch out for superglue though. My dad had a tube explode on him, got him in the eyes. Had to have patches on both eyes for a couple of weeks until they got all the glue out. glueing your.....to your leg...definate winner.
