Wow! I love the skin tones on this. Gorgeous!

03429: Black Orc Archer, 03405: Black Orc Hero

I have to say that while I like the rest of the figures, the skin just doesn't work for me. They look... moldy? I'm not sure if there should be more green tone carrying up into the highlights, or less green in the shadows, but for me, the contrast is too great. <shrug> I love the armor and the shading on the under garments is lovely.

    My WIP, please lend advise

The basics are always good. Black & White, yellow, red, blue, green, purple and a couple of browns would be my choice for ten colors to start with. Pick a good mid-tone at the store for all your basic colors, and then play with them to see what happens. Having a million different bottles of paint is convenient, but it doesn't teach you how to tweak a color if you want it to be richer or faded or any other variation. With a basic set of ten colors you can ultimately create any shade and color you want. If you're afraid of wasting paint, then you can always experiment with the less expensive paints.

    Reaper's new Paint Pumping machine

Pretty darned cool. What does it take to flush the system to get ready for the next color? You have to get the old color out somehow!

New to this. Please advise!! [merged]

I'm assuming you want humanoid figures? If you want Dragons, then Reaper or Games Workshop would have some stuff that would fit your size criteria. For human figures the best bet is going to be the Anime shops like E2046 or Hobbyfan, or specialist casters. You could try chasing down a copy of Amazing Figure Magazine and see what's being advertised there. Usually a number of Conan or Red Sonja figures available. Another option would be pre-painted collectible figures that you could then repaint (hope you have an airbrush). Be aware that the cheapest anime figures are going to run you $30-50, and any of the cast in AFM are probably going to be $150+, and same with most of the pre-painted collectible figures. Scale 75 and Nuts Planet do a lot 75mm figures (~3") but again they're $35+ per figure. Andrea has a nice line of 54mm (2+") figures (again $35+/ea.). Hope that helps, and good luck!

Jasper takes on a PzKpfw IV H

If you Google Panzer IVH and look at the images, you'll see you have a LOT of options available to you! Depending on how obsessed you are about historical accuracy, you may want to do more research at the library. Pretty much anything is going to start with Dunkelgelb/Dark Yellow, and then either or or two camo colors on top of that. Definitely leave the side plates off until you're done, and it may actually make life easier to add the track units after painting as well. Leaving them off will make it a lot easier to paint and weather the top of the track runs. Air brushing is going to be the easiest way to achieve the feathered edges common to German camo, but similar results can be achieved with stippling. Whatever you choose - have fun!

    Gargantuan sized bases?

FWIW, Litko sells a wide variety of bases in a ton of different sizes and shapes up to 6.7" in diameter. Worth checking them out. I've used a ton of their 3mm thick wood bases for my Bolt Action armies.

    Department of Acquisitions

Bought a copy of the 1/10 "Portrait of a Young Tiefling" from Dark Sword. Thought about getting the 28mm version as well, but passed so I would stay within my budget. Imagine my surprise when I opened the box today and discovered they'd thrown in the 28mm figure as a bonus! Really made my day.

[SPLIT] Reaper's 25th Anniversary Promotion January

Yeah, he's bigger than I thought he was. I figured he was man sized, but he'd definitely get your attention if he loomed up in front of you. ;)

    9th Doctor & War Doctor

I suspect Heresy may have lost the license since I know Warlord Games now has one and is coming out with a line of figures to support a Dr. Who game. I look forward to seeing your work on these!

    Thessalhydra (Bones Hydra)

You can use the Reaper liners through your airbrush to prime as well. I did the DDS2 terrain using Grey liner cut about 2 parts liner to 1 part paint, sprayed nicely.... Thanks! I'll have to give that a try.

    Thessalhydra (Bones Hydra)

Cool! I want to use my airbrush on a lot of my bigger bones, but I've held off because I like to prime first and none of my usual primers want to bond with the bones, even after washing them off. What did you prime/basecoat with? I'd hate to put the work in and then have it rub off, or have it bead up on the bones while trying to spray! Your Hydra is coming along quite nicely!

    Disgusting, but I like it!

    Cash's Winter Workbench 2016

You can also use Gesso as a base coat to 'seal' the styrofoam, although that may be a bit thick depending on what you're trying to cover.

Twilight Howler (Fynn the Hunter by Red Panda Miniatures)

Wow! Love the color combination on this guy. Smooth blending, and lots of character. The figure is one I'll have to keep an eye out for, certainly wouldn't mind adding to my collection.
