  1. Fantastic piece, very impressive work.
  2. I added a couple of photos of my recent progress with the piece, I edited them in under the originals. He's getting there...
  3. Great color choices, espeicially on the anime heroine. Great work...
  4. Oh very nice, great work on the wings and the dragon's plates!
  5. @Kuro Cleanbrush thank you, I was really pleased with the wood effect.
  6. Absolutely;) Enjoy this piece, I know I did ;) ...
  7. Sure thing, there are other products on the market, such as ProCreate which is a bit more expensive but you get a lot more volume too for the price.
  8. @Silas Coggeshall Thank you, I was really pleased with how she came out. I wanted to ask, you know that there are two of these pieces for sale right? The $129 large resin statue and the smaller one around $10.00. The one I painted above is the smaller, metal one for $10.00. Just wanted to put that out there. Here's the link to the one I painted above.
  9. @Silia Coggeshall Thank you, I liked it too.
  10. IT has been really fun for me, it is well worth it. And the green stuff is only $8. You can easily get at least four or five minies out of that if you aren't too conservative about your mixing. Give it a go :) ...
  11. @Fitzeolas thanks for tip, I'll see it anyone out here carries Grumbacher products.
  12. @MonkeySloth Thank you, I'll have to look at Hobby Lobby when I get a chance. Sadly there isn't one, or any hobby stores, in my area. The best I have available to me is Walmart and Ace Hardware. The cost of living in a small community I'm afraid...
  13. @dks Yep, you were in the know on this one. Thank you for the compliments, I'm really glad I did get the color shapers. They have made a huge difference. I spent a good amount of time referencing how the muscles should look and I'm happy that it seems to have paid off. As for the wire on the hands, I'll have to remember that for next time. I've been adding the hands in separately, especially if the figure is holding something like a weapon. For my Jedi miniature I sculpted the hands on the saber and then connected them to the arms once they were cured. I had planned to do the same with this piece, in fact I sculpted his left hand on a separate weapon. I'll add that piece in with the next round of WIP images sometime this week. Thanks again for the comments :)...
  14. @Goblyn I'm glad the there red leather armor is coming across so well. I agree that a black cape might have played better off of the red. The cloak was actually green with washes of grey to bring the tone down. Thanks again...
  15. @evhorne969 exactly right, and a great way to identify him while still leaving him unknown to some. My hat off to you sir. Thanks for commenting...
  16. I misread your post, let me say that yes I did get my shapers and they have made incredible difference in smoothing and in adding additions without harsh lines. Thanks and sorry for misreading...
  17. @haldir Nope, not originally a comic character but did make several cross appearences here and there. @mjacobson Nope, thanks for the guesses though ;)...
  18. @Sanael Thank you for the tip. Sadly I don't have a hobby store near by, but the next time I'm near civilization I'll look for Testors products. The paints I use are Apple Barrel acrylics found at Walmart. The reds were Cardinal Crimson and Apple Red for the high lights. Thank you for the compliments as well...
  19. Wow, vibrant color! Great job on the blending, I can nearly feel the heat just looking at it. Good job...
  20. @TaleSpinner Not a bad guess. Not Conan, but I suppose the term barbarian could technically apply. Thanks for the comments about the blending, I figured out what was causing the yellow chunks in my earlier pieces and have managed to find a way to avoid them for the most part. As for the knees, I've gone back since these were taken and finished the lower half of the body, hopefully fixing the proportion issues. Thanks for commenting. @Runestone_Cowboy No, not John Carter. Closer genre though. Thanks for guessing...
  21. Here are a couple of WIP shots of a miniature I'm working on now. Can anyone guess who or what it is? Update: Here are some updated photos of the progress with this piece. Enjoy...
  22. @Fitzeolas Thank you, I was really working on getting more comfortable with washes on this piece so I'm glad she turned out well. You know, its funny, when I started working on her I didn't consider her to be an assasin. I always got more of a blade dancer, warrior feeling from her. That shine on her outter cloak is really glaring. Is there a generic product like dulcoat I can find at a hardware store or something else that would have the same effect? Thanks again ;)...
  23. You are welcome, I hope it helps. Congrats Derek on the status update and thanks for all the advice!
